I don't think you were pretty decent at the start but as another boxer who stands at 5'7 and my sparring partners often are taller than me, I would do more level changes whether that be to the body or just feints also as the shorter person you should constantly move your head and clean up your foot work. Make the other person work to try and hit you. You should also have a very good high guard I think put a bit more pressure on your partner just because you don't him to out jab you and you want to cut off his escape routes. Try to keep your punches clean and sharp because your partner was able to see them coming way to easy. But with all that being said this doesn't happen overnight and I'm sure with time you'll become a beast, keep it up bro.
U have gotten way better since the first, I would say keep ur stance still and train arm endurance to keep them up, I recommend arm circles for your shoulders
Use setups like feint or jab and then left hook (lure in with the jab for the hook) or a jab to make an opponent come in then counter (practice this shadow boxing and on the bag)
@@thisisedson I do kung fu and we practice kickboxing/sparring as part of that, but I'm a big fan of pure boxing as well. I used to spar a lot more a few years back, but nowadays we only spar once a month if that. All the old fighters have basically retired and very few of the remaining students at the club are even interested in fighting, it tempts me to join a regular boxing gym just so I can actually spar. Respect you for getting out there and putting in the work. Hope it goes well for you.
@@themusicalgerbil192 thats dopeee; aye do it man, find someone that knows how to control themselves and do some light sparring to warm you back up! kung fu sparring sounds super interesting tho fr. Thank you for the well wishes brother!
Im guessing u have not been boxing for that long so u just need more toning which comes with time and also ur being flat footed not bouncing on ur toes this restricts ur movement by a good amount and if ur only going for 1 jab make it a slip jab so u get ur head of the line Gj
Heard brother thank you; I think I really just wanted to be more comfortable and reserve energy and not gas out after 2 rounds lolll but I def want to be a more bouncy and slick fighter as I refine my style 🙏🏽
Your opponent was playful and truly apologetic when sparring, a true playful approach that makes learning easier, he could get in and out then have a sec or two to process what's happening, you looked like you were fighting, you only pressure forward and in weird trajectories cause you lack balance, take a second man, and breath. Your opponent is well planted when throwing, you sometimes jump even, your head movement is useless as too predictable bro, if I know that your head is gonna be left after its been right each time then really you're just challenging my timing not reflex. Don't throw wide man, and no, just because your guard looks like a Philly doesn't mean you can, Philly is about knowing the offense first, knowing what's coming at you and how to react specifically, you can't just that close with it, lastly man idk why boxers insist on never having a high guard like brother that's avoidable migraines at best, keeps your hands up man, stand strong in discomfort (how someone explained it in MT gym), trust the high guard man, overall fucking great atmosphere at the gym and egos were well checked from both sides at the end, I call this a win for both sides even tho a bit too hard for sparring.
Ty for the words and the tips brother I’ll definitely work on them! I def want to get rid of squaring up unconsciously so I’m working on being more rear leg heavy. Just starting on that first to stay balanced and defensively sound; much love brother!
Do you understand that your life is on the line when you get in that ring? Bro seriously you should get with a coach and AT LEAST LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF BOXING. FOR YOUR SAFETY! JUST LEARNING THE BASICS FROM A COACH WILL HELP YOU IMPROVE TREMENDOUSLY
Man shout it out to you champ it takes a lot to get in that ring that what non boxers don’t understand you both did a great performance to me 💯

Move around the bag and jab at the same time as you add your 2 while also moving aiming up and down
Like your coach said, don't engage in every thing, sometimes u can just hit and move, then wait for the chance to engage
Keep ur stance by doing shadow boxing as you move around with your foot work
Use setups like feint or jab and then left hook (lure in with the jab for the hook) or a jab to make an opponent come in then counter (practice this shadow boxing and on the bag)
I really appreciate the words brother! def gon work on staying in stance, and those arm circles sound suuuuper helpful fr
For a boxing novice I don’t think you did too bad at all man! Just keep up the grind and stay safe 👍
Thank you for the encouragement man fr! Will do; and you've boxed as well before?

extra focus on the foot man, between 1:00-1:30 you're literally standing on your heel at multiple occasions, really not optimal man
