You still have to get ALL the new personas, all the Mementos stamps, all the R-variants of the ultimate weapons (only available during a fusion alarm), unlock all the third tier personas in third semester, get all of the will seeds in every palace, max out Yoshizawa's, Maruki's and Akechi's confidants, as well as defeating not one, not two, but FIVE optional boss battles (Lavenza, Jose, Narukami, p3-kun, and the Narukami AND p3-kun together). P5R is an absolute behemoth of a game, one where the new content was designed for people who already beat base P5. The new layouts of the palaces, and the reworked boss fights, make it different.
What he did would be the equivalent of saying I can't complete pokemon until I catch every variety including shinies, so clearly he can set realistic goals, except here he went bonkers. Surprised me it took 5 playthroughs before he realize this wasn't feasible. If he had the mentality to get that far he should have finished it, he was 1/2 way there.
Same as Xenoblade 2. People like to dog on the blade system but it's designed in a way so that everyone who plays has a different combat experience starting (due to pool tables) and the randomness of blades later on dictates how you approach certain tasks or what to focus on. It's not for everyone but it does have it's good qualities.
@@Hephaestus_God the problem people have with the blade system is that it's a gacha, and people don't like gachas in their $60 RPG. Generally people are gonna end up using the guaranteed blades on most of the party members anyways- Rex has Pyra, Roc, and Nia, Nia has Dromarch, Morag has Brighid and Aegaeon, and Zeke has Pandoria, along with pulling Wulfric guaranteed. The main problem I have with the system is that there's no way to guarantee Rare Blades, so even if you're able to grind out rare crystals you can't guarantee getting the actual cool Blades that you want to use. There's a limit to how much RNG that people will accept in video games- gacha games operate on exploiting people whose limit is higher and will put up with bad RNG for the rush of getting what they want. In Xenoblade 2's Blade system, there's no return like that for the developers, and the only result is forcing players to play the lottery in hopes they can get what they want, which is highly unreasonable considering it's a core mechanic. I'm not saying it can't have any RNG, I'm just saying the RNG is too heavy. Rare core crystals for example should have at least a 50% chance of offering a Rare Blade, regardless of the available pool of Rare Blades left, and the Booster items, if you use 5 of them at once, should 100% guarantee you get a Blade of one of the 2 corresponding elements. It would still allow for a unique experience while streamlining the process of grinding for completion for people who've already finished the game.

@Harsh Mehtus If I remember right it took like three playthroughs to get it and the second one I failed to get one of the trophies and had to essentially beat the game to get it. The same thing happened in P4G for me.

Look, playing P5 twice to "complete" the game is reasonable. I'm just absolutely stunned you did 5 freaking playthroughs before realising that getting such small item rewards (that do fuck all in game) maybe wasn't worth it.

It seems I’m not the only one who had a personal awakening when playing Persona 5. I’m proud of you, Jirard - you did the game justice. As for Royal, I think you should give it one playthrough as a special New Game Plus episode. There’s only one new character to romance (Kasumi, Best Girl) and two new endings to experience (that are right next to each other). The new stuff is great, but you’ll probably like the gameplay refinements even more considering you played the original so much (ammo refills after every battle!! Morgana doesn’t hound you about sleeping so much!! Mementos got buffed!!). But obviously, you should wait a couple years. The game’s not going anywhere, and I think you’d probably feel weird playing Royal after your personal turmoil with the original is so fresh in your mind. Whatever you decide to do, I support you. For real.
I agree not play royal right now. I say maybe a while down the line as game not going anywhere. I played Persona 5 last year and enjoying a Royal playthrough this year too. I didn't do a 500 hours run as he did.

I have kind of a suggestion: IF you consider to do the royal version, why don‘t you just primarily focus on the new content and try to do it in way that rewards you for the time you have spent on the game already
Royal is easier to 100%, the Thieves Den tracks progress across all saves so you can save scum for the romance/confidant awards and stuff like fishing, reading books and going to the maid cafe.
There's a ton of Thieves' Den reward which, luckily, aren't required for platinum, but whenever Jirard gets around to Royal, hopefully, he doesn't try to get every one. Luckily, they carry over throughout saves.

Yeah it's easy, that doesn't mean you can't get some bullshit deaths. A crit into a followup, instakilled when you attack instead of ambush. The twins. Two deaths a playthrough is crazy, well lucky more than good.

@@tms.tbager1663 The idea is that each datable confidant gives the prompt to date at a specific rank (9 usually), so if all datable confidants are at rank 8 in the last month of the game, Jirard could theoretically max out whoever he wants to date for the last in game month, get the official date item from them, then reload the save, and max someone else out, and only have to play that 1 in game month 10 times, rather than a new playthrough 10 times. Or something along those lines.

If Jirard ends up getting around to Royal, it's a completionist's dream: Without spoilers, you have a museum-esque area that you can access where you can meet friends, unlock awards based on your progress and trophies that are tied to various aspects from daily life and friends to being a phantom thief and battling. I have invested 200 hours since release into the game since the quarantine and I have never felt so glad unlocking rewards that felt earned.
@@FirionLeFleur Actually you have to confess your love them get them rank 10 as a lover. After that just reload your save and your good. I did the confession and reloaded but they didn't count. When I started to Max them to 10 did it start to count.

i am so grateful they brought the persona games to PC. absolutely loved P4 P5R. i did feel a bit overwhelmed when i first played P4 but i decided just to do whatever i wanted and then do a playthrough with a guide to get 100% of the story. i was going to do the same for P5R but they made it so much easier to get everything done in 1 playthrough. was kind of disappointed because i was looking forward to another playthrough. the reason i fell in love wit these games is because i can genuinely lose myself in them and vicariously live a life i would have wanted, where i was top of my class, had friends, girlfriends and hung out with people.
Ive played through the game 5 times; 4 through base P5 and once through P5R. I can not imagine doing it 7 more times. I need 3 more trophies for Royal, and I’m going to get them then put the game down, as i don’t need another 120 hours in the game. I already have 500.
I've played it 7 times thus far. 5 from Vanilla and 2 from Royal (1 in Japanese last year, 1 in English this year), but I guess it's because of my extreme love for P5 that 7 times feels like nothing and I'm ready. lol Only reason I'm not starting a 8th playthrough is because I'm replaying the sequel P5 Scramble for the second time and replaying other Persona games again (feels good to be back in Inaba in P4G!)
I feel it as of late. I did seven playthroughs for P5, in the middle of the eighth. And Royal once, at the same point as P5 for the second playthrough. I love this game to death and did nothing but play it for six weeks when I got into the series, but at this point in time, it feels more like a dredge to try and play through either game once more. I hate being burnt out of my favourite game ;_;
Instead of the 6th playthrough, play P5R. Its truly an amazing experience and takes vanilla P5 to a whole new level. You'll appreciate all the time-saving QOL changes they've included as well.
Oh don't worry. I have over 300 hours in FE 3 houses. I've gotten every song, every cutscene, and every route completed. The support conversations were gonna take a long time because I'd have to recruit classmates for a certain support conversation. So, I'm replaying blue lions because I accidentally did my first playthrough of blue lions with new game plus. I may have to do every route but with every difficulty.

I love this game, it really helped me in my recovery from covid. I literally just got this when I was getting out of the hospital. It reminded me of what a modern day suikoden game would feel like.
So, story time: in my first playthrough in the Castle, I left the palace when I reached the final safe room without going to the treasure despite knowing it was right there because I thought I would have gone straight into the boss fight which my party wasn't prepared for.
i did the same exact thing on my first playthrough and ended up accidentally failing the palace because i didn't look at the calendar for the tresure room and calling card deadlines, so at least you didn't do that

Your well-being and passion are what makes your content go from good to awesome. 90%of the games you play are not unknown to me, but unplayed for sure, but I like to watch your channel regardless because of that. You guys put a lot of effort into it and it shows.
I'd love to see you do Royal, but please, as the game tells you to: "Take your time". Dont rush to it, and please dont set yourself up to do the multitude of playthroughs like you were doing for this. I live your content, but it's much more important you look after yourself. Like I said, I'd love to see you do Royal, but give yourself plenty of time for you to feel like you can do it, and dont make it too hard on yourself.
Royal would be a much easier 100% with 1 full playhtrough and an bits of a second one for the New Game+ specific content (like Satanael and the Twin's fight). All the girls give you their chocolate anyway if you have them at confidant Rank 10 friendship-side, so that's already solved right there, which was the cause of all those worthless playthroughs he was doing on the OG Persona 5.

I've been bugging you for years now about it, and I can say... You've made me happy and I am proud of you good sir. Ever since you mentioned it as your favorite game of 2017, and in that video said you would do a video on the game in the next year.. I've been eagerly awaiting this.
If you ever get to visit Tokyo, you should keep an eye out for the locations as seen in Persona 5. The people who worked on the game went deep into basing the locations you see in P5 on actual places to an extent even the vending machines outside the bathhouse is based off of actual vending machines.
P1 and P2 have not aged well. They were fine when they came out, but you have to be a very specific type of person to find them as enjoyable as later games, not because they're bad, but because 1 suffers a heavy case of first game syndrome, and two is waaaaay too hard for most players. Props to your enjoyment of em though
The “completion” of JRPGs in general can be awful lengthwise, so there is nothing wrong with putting the requirements down to something more reasonable. It took me 650 hours to 100% Dragon Quest 9 and that was over the span of 2 years.
JRPG's and Monster Hunter are some of the longest games to complete in my experience. I still haven't done every quest and got every "achievement" in any MH game and I've spent over 1,000 each in all of the ones I've played.
Xenoblade Chronicles is a brilliant game I've played through many times, and I cannot wait for DE to release at the end of the month. I have never 100%ed the game because it is a soul-crushing task.

@@thebloodyaussie1458 to be fair the challenges are simple on a ng+ run so it wouldn't be too rough as this was. The plat is even easier than before and the challenges can be fun. Although don't think he should spend time doing a completion for the trial battles, just seems like too much effort on top of already trying to get through.
@@thebloodyaussie1458 Thieves' Den isn't that hard, all things considered. Just requires an extra playthrough for two of the secret bosses and seeing the original P5 ending within the game (which is done by not ranking up certain confidants by the end of the sixth palace)
In my mind “completing” a game should involve experiencing and mastering all a game has to offer. With that said requiring someone to get all the romance items to consider Persona 5 “completed” is absurd. You aren’t doing anything new or challenging, just going through the same content over and over again.
You make a good point. Achievements for example are absolutely useless. They barely classify as content and I can't see why people would just grind one enemy to kill it 10000 times or something like that.
Especially when the items is pretty much nothing. Hell, by the time you get to that part of the game, you are likely to have something better unlocked in the Doctor's Shop.
If it were actually game changing equippable items, there might be an argument for it. But fucking one time use healing chocolates? Come on. That shouldn't be part of any completion criteria.

This video is what made me decide to go ahead and subscribe. I’m not a completionist by any means. I tend to just max out characters, get ultimate equipment, achieve OP status and then move on. But your complete honesty was refreshing, and while I still don’t see myself ever completing any game to the gaming community’s standards, I can definitely watch you do so.
Thank you for playing this game, I always wanted to play it for myself after watching play throughs and after going through multiple hurdles I finally am about to beat Royal. Only play Royal if your up for it. You’ve earned yourself a break.
I played Persona 5: The Royal when it released and I actually managed to get the platinum trophy in one playthrough. The new content is excellent and if you think you can stand going through the base persona 5 game to get to the new content, Go for it. I played the original around 3 times and Royal was still a treat for me to play. As with this one I do recommend just going for the platinum trophy.
(Spoilers towards the end of the comment) I loved all the additions to the base game and how they sprinkled in just enough new story stuff to keep things interesting...however one of my main concerns ended up being true for me, which is that the new palace/ending felt very tacked on and kinda anticlimactic. Especially considering it pulls one of my least favorite tropes (especially in a video game) by effectively "undoing" everything you did during the extra month and just went back to the original ending. I think they should've just wrote it in such a way that Maruki was the December palace and moved Yaldobaoth to February or when you get to Yald, that's when Maruki shows up and interrupts you/takes him as his persona, then you do his palace before circling back to Yald. Also the revised pre-credits cutscene sucked, don't get your last hurrah with the team or even a romantic moment with Sumire, just a lonely cab ride with Maruki
@@WolframiteWraith The ending cut-scene was very badly portrayed. The reason they did what they is because even though your character is now a free man, they still suspect him of being the leader of the phantom thief and thus is trailing him for evidence so your party members are trying to act as decoy and in yoshizawa's case she needed to act like there are no connections between you so they wouldn't suspect her having ties to the phantom thief. Its more of a bittersweet ending but they really didn't do a good job portraying that nor convey the theme of freedom

No love for the real MVP of completion, Chihaya? Her confidant skills literally give you points in social stats and other confidants and all it costs is money, no time at all. You'll end the game doing a casual run completing every confidant and have a month to spare if you focus on her and kawakami asap
I could never quite get the hang of her social stat booster; it really didn't help that my go-to for stat boosts were free reading periods, which all occur before her fortunes can go into effect. The confidant booster was a lifesaver though.
@@meganmartin3373 It's simple, if you're going to spend any time in the day to boost a social stat: pay for the bonus. If you have a confidant that isn't ready to rank up: pay chihaya to boost them.
To be honest, I only used her confidant boost once in P5R to level up Sojiro's points to get him to rank 10. Still, I managed to max all confidants in my first playthrough without really relying on Chihaya's ability.
I'm pretty sure this was mentioned many times, but you should do a recomplete of Persona 5 using the Royal edition due to the fact that it actually does have a completion list within a part of the game called The Thieves' Den.
This game is on my top 5 of all time. I finally finished it today since starting it in January. Eight months of pure joy and entertainment for $10. Final boss doing the attack that can wipe your party, but Futaba coming in clutch with her final guard!!!!
This was one of my favorite RPG's of all time, it really hit me out of nowhere. I definitely think 10 or 11 playthroughs is a bit much to ask though, especially for such a great game that is not worth the hate. Personally I checked all the romance options out on the side through youtube videos to experience them so I would not play through so many times or do so much save load options. I still would like to eventually check out Persona 5 Royale at some point, but putting over 100 hours in like I did on the first play through I can only do at times. Either way great review, and glad you checked your sanity before you ended up hating the game. Also PS you should probably take a break before playing P5 Royale lol!
Royal is fantastic and whenever you do get around to it, I think you'll love it. So much has been streamlined or expanded, so even if you've played it before a lot still feels new. It also helps that quite a few scenes that were originally text only are now voiced. Not all, but significantly more.
I absolutely recommend Royal, i know going through the same story seems daunting but i didn't mind it, plus everything feels new, despite it being the same story wise. (Also the new content has certain requirements, look them up before playing.)
I would've counted the Platinum trophy as "Completion" and rathered you spend any one of those playthroughs on Royal instead lol (and FYI Royal is "Platinum-able" on the first playthrough)
Certainly. Only I expect Jirard does all the Thieves' Den challenges. I think the P5R platinum misses a lot of the content. Still, I think he would enjoy more going for Persona 4 Golden before Royal. A break from the story could do much good for when he comes back
I've played through P5 2 times and P5R 1 time. I don't get how people have the time to max all confidants and still live a normal life in-game. I haven't maxed Iwai and Shinya's confidant yet and haven't done things like getting all the top personas. Idk why and how y'all can do these things
@@mattpkc34xx Nah, not really. It is easy to plat P5R than P5 in your first playthrough. Some of the trophy achievements are turned into Thieve's Den achievements which is a separate thing entirely. Getting Thieve's Den achievements is much harder than platinum vanilla P5 in one playthrough.

You still have to get ALL the new personas, all the Mementos stamps, all the R-variants of the ultimate weapons (only available during a fusion alarm), unlock all the third tier personas in third semester, get all of the will seeds in every palace, max out Yoshizawa's, Maruki's and Akechi's confidants, as well as defeating not one, not two, but FIVE optional boss battles (Lavenza, Jose, Narukami, p3-kun, and the Narukami AND p3-kun together).
P5R is an absolute behemoth of a game, one where the new content was designed for people who already beat base P5. The new layouts of the palaces, and the reworked boss fights, make it different.

What he did would be the equivalent of saying I can't complete pokemon until I catch every variety including shinies, so clearly he can set realistic goals, except here he went bonkers.
Surprised me it took 5 playthroughs before he realize this wasn't feasible. If he had the mentality to get that far he should have finished it, he was 1/2 way there.

People like to dog on the blade system but it's designed in a way so that everyone who plays has a different combat experience starting (due to pool tables) and the randomness of blades later on dictates how you approach certain tasks or what to focus on. It's not for everyone but it does have it's good qualities.
@@Hephaestus_God the problem people have with the blade system is that it's a gacha, and people don't like gachas in their $60 RPG. Generally people are gonna end up using the guaranteed blades on most of the party members anyways- Rex has Pyra, Roc, and Nia, Nia has Dromarch, Morag has Brighid and Aegaeon, and Zeke has Pandoria, along with pulling Wulfric guaranteed. The main problem I have with the system is that there's no way to guarantee Rare Blades, so even if you're able to grind out rare crystals you can't guarantee getting the actual cool Blades that you want to use. There's a limit to how much RNG that people will accept in video games- gacha games operate on exploiting people whose limit is higher and will put up with bad RNG for the rush of getting what they want. In Xenoblade 2's Blade system, there's no return like that for the developers, and the only result is forcing players to play the lottery in hopes they can get what they want, which is highly unreasonable considering it's a core mechanic. I'm not saying it can't have any RNG, I'm just saying the RNG is too heavy. Rare core crystals for example should have at least a 50% chance of offering a Rare Blade, regardless of the available pool of Rare Blades left, and the Booster items, if you use 5 of them at once, should 100% guarantee you get a Blade of one of the 2 corresponding elements. It would still allow for a unique experience while streamlining the process of grinding for completion for people who've already finished the game.

@Harsh Mehtus If I remember right it took like three playthroughs to get it and the second one I failed to get one of the trophies and had to essentially beat the game to get it. The same thing happened in P4G for me.

It seems I’m not the only one who had a personal awakening when playing Persona 5. I’m proud of you, Jirard - you did the game justice.
As for Royal, I think you should give it one playthrough as a special New Game Plus episode. There’s only one new character to romance (Kasumi, Best Girl) and two new endings to experience (that are right next to each other). The new stuff is great, but you’ll probably like the gameplay refinements even more considering you played the original so much (ammo refills after every battle!! Morgana doesn’t hound you about sleeping so much!! Mementos got buffed!!). But obviously, you should wait a couple years. The game’s not going anywhere, and I think you’d probably feel weird playing Royal after your personal turmoil with the original is so fresh in your mind.
Whatever you decide to do, I support you. For real.

Royal is easier to 100%, the Thieves Den tracks progress across all saves so you can save scum for the romance/confidant awards and stuff like fishing, reading books and going to the maid cafe.
I mean i agree especially since it's essentially a remake/final mix version not a full blown "sequel" like P6 would be if it existed
There's a ton of Thieves' Den reward which, luckily, aren't required for platinum, but whenever Jirard gets around to Royal, hopefully, he doesn't try to get every one. Luckily, they carry over throughout saves.

@@tms.tbager1663 The idea is that each datable confidant gives the prompt to date at a specific rank (9 usually), so if all datable confidants are at rank 8 in the last month of the game, Jirard could theoretically max out whoever he wants to date for the last in game month, get the official date item from them, then reload the save, and max someone else out, and only have to play that 1 in game month 10 times, rather than a new playthrough 10 times. Or something along those lines.

If Jirard ends up getting around to Royal, it's a completionist's dream: Without spoilers, you have a museum-esque area that you can access where you can meet friends, unlock awards based on your progress and trophies that are tied to various aspects from daily life and friends to being a phantom thief and battling. I have invested 200 hours since release into the game since the quarantine and I have never felt so glad unlocking rewards that felt earned.
And I believe the challenge for the romancing is only confessing the love. So he could just reload his save file for that one. ;)
Plus the trophy list is more easier to complete. You can do the entire thing on a single play through if you do it right

@@FirionLeFleur Actually you have to confess your love them get them rank 10 as a lover. After that just reload your save and your good. I did the confession and reloaded but they didn't count. When I started to Max them to 10 did it start to count.

i am so grateful they brought the persona games to PC. absolutely loved P4 P5R. i did feel a bit overwhelmed when i first played P4 but i decided just to do whatever i wanted and then do a playthrough with a guide to get 100% of the story. i was going to do the same for P5R but they made it so much easier to get everything done in 1 playthrough. was kind of disappointed because i was looking forward to another playthrough.
the reason i fell in love wit these games is because i can genuinely lose myself in them and vicariously live a life i would have wanted, where i was top of my class, had friends, girlfriends and hung out with people.

Ive played through the game 5 times; 4 through base P5 and once through P5R. I can not imagine doing it 7 more times. I need 3 more trophies for Royal, and I’m going to get them then put the game down, as i don’t need another 120 hours in the game. I already have 500.
I've played it 7 times thus far. 5 from Vanilla and 2 from Royal (1 in Japanese last year, 1 in English this year), but I guess it's because of my extreme love for P5 that 7 times feels like nothing and I'm ready. lol Only reason I'm not starting a 8th playthrough is because I'm replaying the sequel P5 Scramble for the second time and replaying other Persona games again (feels good to be back in Inaba in P4G!)
I feel it as of late. I did seven playthroughs for P5, in the middle of the eighth. And Royal once, at the same point as P5 for the second playthrough. I love this game to death and did nothing but play it for six weeks when I got into the series, but at this point in time, it feels more like a dredge to try and play through either game once more. Oh don't worry. I have over 300 hours in FE 3 houses. I've gotten every song, every cutscene, and every route completed. The support conversations were gonna take a long time because I'd have to recruit classmates for a certain support conversation.
So, I'm replaying blue lions because I accidentally did my first playthrough of blue lions with new game plus. I may have to do every route but with every difficulty.

I love this game, it really helped me in my recovery from covid. I literally just got this when I was getting out of the hospital. It reminded me of what a modern day suikoden game would feel like.

So, story time: in my first playthrough in the Castle, I left the palace when I reached the final safe room without going to the treasure despite knowing it was right there because I thought I would have gone straight into the boss fight which my party wasn't prepared for.
i did the same exact thing on my first playthrough and ended up accidentally failing the palace because i didn't look at the calendar for the tresure room and calling card deadlines, so at least you didn't do that

I'd love to see you do Royal, but please, as the game tells you to: "Take your time". Dont rush to it, and please dont set yourself up to do the multitude of playthroughs like you were doing for this. I live your content, but it's much more important you look after yourself.
Like I said, I'd love to see you do Royal, but give yourself plenty of time for you to feel like you can do it, and dont make it too hard on yourself.
Royal would be a much easier 100% with 1 full playhtrough and an bits of a second one for the New Game+ specific content (like Satanael and the Twin's fight). All the girls give you their chocolate anyway if you have them at confidant Rank 10 friendship-side, so that's already solved right there, which was the cause of all those worthless playthroughs he was doing on the OG Persona 5.

Ever since you mentioned it as your favorite game of 2017, and in that video said you would do a video on the game in the next year.. I've been eagerly awaiting this.
If you ever get to visit Tokyo, you should keep an eye out for the locations as seen in Persona 5. The people who worked on the game went deep into basing the locations you see in P5 on actual places to an extent even the vending machines outside the bathhouse is based off of actual vending machines.

P1 has TWO different sequels: P2 IS, and Etrian Odyssey.
P1 and P2 have not aged well. They were fine when they came out, but you have to be a very specific type of person to find them as enjoyable as later games, not because they're bad, but because 1 suffers a heavy case of first game syndrome, and two is waaaaay too hard for most players. Props to your enjoyment of em though
The “completion” of JRPGs in general can be awful lengthwise, so there is nothing wrong with putting the requirements down to something more reasonable. It took me 650 hours to 100% Dragon Quest 9 and that was over the span of 2 years.
JRPG's and Monster Hunter are some of the longest games to complete in my experience. I still haven't done every quest and got every "achievement" in any MH game and I've spent over 1,000 each in all of the ones I've played.

Xenoblade Chronicles is a brilliant game I've played through many times, and I cannot wait for DE to release at the end of the month.

@@thebloodyaussie1458 to be fair the challenges are simple on a ng+ run so it wouldn't be too rough as this was. The plat is even easier than before and the challenges can be fun. Although don't think he should spend time doing a completion for the trial battles, just seems like too much effort on top of already trying to get through.
@@thebloodyaussie1458 Thieves' Den isn't that hard, all things considered. Just requires an extra playthrough for two of the secret bosses and seeing the original P5 ending within the game (which is done by not ranking up certain confidants by the end of the sixth palace)
In my mind “completing” a game should involve experiencing and mastering all a game has to offer. With that said requiring someone to get all the romance items to consider Persona 5 “completed” is absurd. You aren’t doing anything new or challenging, just going through the same content over and over again.
You make a good point.
Achievements for example are absolutely useless. They barely classify as content and I can't see why people would just grind one enemy to kill it 10000 times or something like that.
Especially when the items is pretty much nothing. Hell, by the time you get to that part of the game, you are likely to have something better unlocked in the Doctor's Shop.
If it were actually game changing equippable items, there might be an argument for it. But fucking one time use healing chocolates? Come on. That shouldn't be part of any completion criteria.
@@biozelink6086 I think Persona 5 has a good achievement (trophy) list that allows one to see a lot of game content. Trying to platinum the game was what helped me see everything the game had to offer
...but the platinum trophy for the game doesn't require any of that; Jirard just set those goals for himself.

This video is what made me decide to go ahead and subscribe. I’m not a completionist by any means. I tend to just max out characters, get ultimate equipment, achieve OP status and then move on. But your complete honesty was refreshing, and while I still don’t see myself ever completing any game to the gaming community’s standards, I can definitely watch you do so.

I played Persona 5: The Royal when it released and I actually managed to get the platinum trophy in one playthrough. The new content is excellent and if you think you can stand going through the base persona 5 game to get to the new content, Go for it. I played the original around 3 times and Royal was still a treat for me to play. As with this one I do recommend just going for the platinum trophy.
(Spoilers towards the end of the comment) I loved all the additions to the base game and how they sprinkled in just enough new story stuff to keep things interesting...however one of my main concerns ended up being true for me, which is that the new palace/ending felt very tacked on and kinda anticlimactic.
Especially considering it pulls one of my least favorite tropes (especially in a video game) by effectively "undoing" everything you did during the extra month and just went back to the original ending. I think they should've just wrote it in such a way that Maruki was the December palace and moved Yaldobaoth to February or when you get to Yald, that's when Maruki shows up and interrupts you/takes him as his persona, then you do his palace before circling back to Yald.
Also the revised pre-credits cutscene sucked, don't get your last hurrah with the team or even a romantic moment with Sumire, just a lonely cab ride with Maruki

@@WolframiteWraith The ending cut-scene was very badly portrayed. The reason they did what they is because even though your character is now a free man, they still suspect him of being the leader of the phantom thief and thus is trailing him for evidence so your party members are trying to act as decoy and in yoshizawa's case she needed to act like there are no connections between you so they wouldn't suspect her having ties to the phantom thief.
Its more of a bittersweet ending but they really didn't do a good job portraying that nor convey the theme of freedom

Her confidant skills literally give you points in social stats and other confidants and all it costs is money, no time at all.
You'll end the game doing a casual run completing every confidant and have a month to spare if you focus on her and kawakami asap
I could never quite get the hang of her social stat booster; it really didn't help that my go-to for stat boosts were free reading periods, which all occur before her fortunes can go into effect.
The confidant booster was a lifesaver though.
@@meganmartin3373 It's simple, if you're going to spend any time in the day to boost a social stat: pay for the bonus. If you have a confidant that isn't ready to rank up: pay chihaya to boost them.
And further more if you always use Chihaya before going to dungeons money becomes a non issue
To be honest, I only used her confidant boost once in P5R to level up Sojiro's points to get him to rank 10. Still, I managed to max all confidants in my first playthrough without really relying on Chihaya's ability.
I'm pretty sure this was mentioned many times, but you should do a recomplete of Persona 5 using the Royal edition due to the fact that it actually does have a completion list within a part of the game called The Thieves' Den.
p5r was a lot of fun. I recommend playing it after you've taken a lonnnnng break lol. And next you know that the platinum trophy is complete enough

This game is on my top 5 of all time. I finally finished it today since starting it in January. Eight months of pure joy and entertainment for $10. Final boss doing the attack that can wipe your party, but Futaba coming in clutch with her final guard!!!!
30:21 Damn seeing how you had the platinum basically done since 2017 but the actual plat trophy was unlocked in 2020 breaks my heart.
This was one of my favorite RPG's of all time, it really hit me out of nowhere. I definitely think 10 or 11 playthroughs is a bit much to ask though, especially for such a great game that is not worth the hate. Personally I checked all the romance options out on the side through youtube videos to experience them so I would not play through so many times or do so much save load options. I still would like to eventually check out Persona 5 Royale at some point, but putting over 100 hours in like I did on the first play through I can only do at times. Either way great review, and glad you checked your sanity before you ended up hating the game. Also PS you should probably take a break before playing P5 Royale lol!
Royal is fantastic and whenever you do get around to it, I think you'll love it. So much has been streamlined or expanded, so even if you've played it before a lot still feels new. It also helps that quite a few scenes that were originally text only are now voiced. Not all, but significantly more.
I absolutely recommend Royal, i know going through the same story seems daunting but i didn't mind it, plus everything feels new, despite it being the same story wise.
(Also the new content has certain requirements, look them up before playing.)
I would've counted the Platinum trophy as "Completion" and rathered you spend any one of those playthroughs on Royal instead lol (and FYI Royal is "Platinum-able" on the first playthrough)
Certainly. Only I expect Jirard does all the Thieves' Den challenges. I think the P5R platinum misses a lot of the content.
Still, I think he would enjoy more going for Persona 4 Golden before Royal. A break from the story could do much good for when he comes back

I've played through P5 2 times and P5R 1 time. I don't get how people have the time to max all confidants and still live a normal life in-game. I haven't maxed Iwai and Shinya's confidant yet and haven't done things like getting all the top personas. Idk why and how y'all can do these things

@@mattpkc34xx Nah, not really. It is easy to plat P5R than P5 in your first playthrough. Some of the trophy achievements are turned into Thieve's Den achievements which is a separate thing entirely. Getting Thieve's Den achievements is much harder than platinum vanilla P5 in one playthrough.
