Honestly a bottle of wine and Joni seems like such a fine and peaceful way to go. So sad, but she chose to leave with her dignity still in tact in a way that she could control what happens
As a Nurse in Canada, we have MAID, which helps people in this position!! It's not up to anyone else to say you can't die because you have quality of life!! Ridiculous!!
Some states do offer euthanasia. The Netherlands did 10 years ago

There’s a time to say goodbye. Yet in America it’s always about keeping people alive.
That hit hard
In a different circumstance, I have something called "The Suicide Disease." Trigeminal Neuralgia- is considered so rare and painful, that stats are all over the place. But it's estimated that 1 in 4 will kill themselves within a few years... I beat the stats, having had it for 20 years now... But there were times where I wanted to die. People called me selfish- but how is it selfish when you are just a burdon? Sick, in constant, agonizing pain, your family watching you scream and throw yourself against the feeling of being electrocuted and stabbed in the eye or jaw?? To have people witness you have an attack, and you're suddenly drooling on yourself? All my teeth are rotting and slowly falling out. I can't eat often. The wind hurts.
But my decision is to make it until my son's 18th, since he's my youngest. In 9 years, if there was a god, he'll take me then. Otherwise, I just spend every day sick and in pain.
