Thank you for this post. I have a 7 year old 42" LG tv and none of the HDMI ports would work. Baked the board at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes...let it cool in the oven for an hour and a half ...put the board back in and bam!! Worked perfectly.
Woke up one morning and turned on my LG 55LX9500 to find a black screen with a high pitch noise coming from the speakers. Baked the Main board at 385F for 10 minutes and that fixed my 3D television! Another success story. Thanks to you and Zedic!

Is the TV still working? If you dont have it by now, how long did it work after heating it?
I saw another video where the guy was trying to fix the HDMI issue with a heat gun. I tried that, but when I connected everything, the LG --:-- issue wasn't fixed, and also, have the screen was messed up. So I figured the TV was headed for the trash. But I went ahead and tried the oven thing, and it works, and the screen looks GREAT. And the HDMI issue (which had started way before the LG --:--" problem was also resolved. Thanks to everyone who made videos. Amazing way to save a few hundred bucks.
My LG 55LE5400 was having HDMI issues connecting to anything other than the cable box. Xbox and Apple TV would not work. Saw this video, read a bunch of comments, and went for it. This actually worked!! After wait for the board to cool off, I did the test with my other devices and they all connected. Thank you for the video and the many people that tried this before me.
i came across this amazing idea and did the same thing for my LG 42 LED mother board and it worked. LG customer service was asking for $350 to have it repaired. i save myself some money courtesy of this video.

Thank you!!! I just finished fixing my 47"LG. I had put up with the HDMI ports being "broken" for over a year. I had an HDMI to composite adapator and it was ok until the unit would not boot. I pulled the board out in about 20 minutes, cooked it as per your instructions. Let it cool during dinner and then buttoned it up, and tested it. The whole family was amazed!!!
Someone has done a lot of trail and error and can up with how to re-solder all components in 10 mins. I really appreciate you taking the time to come up with a solution that only cost a can of Febreze. I will make sure to run this test each and every time I have a main board problem. All systems GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'm amazed. This worked for me too, on an LG 42LE5400 built in February of 2010. The set suddenly went dark and quiet. Afterward it would power on, but without any picture or sound. Baked the main board at 385F for 10 minutes on a piece of cardboard. Thanks for posting the video, and the link to the original article, which was also informative and helped me get over some jitters as I gave this a try. You saved me a few hundred dollars, especially if the TV stays fixed. And if it doesn't? Back into the oven it goes!

This fixed my TV! I was skeptical at first but I just swallowed my fear and popped it in the oven. 40 minutes later my 55lw5600 was working perfectly. I can't stress enough how thankful I am. Saved me a huge amount of money.
I did this last night. do it at 392 F (200 C) for 10 minutes. let it cool for 30 minutes with the oven off and oven door open. then move it to the kitchen counter and let it cool some more for 30 minutes. *now to prevent any smells first make a pouch out of parchment paper, place the board in the pouch, and staple the open ends closed. then make a pouch out of aluminum foil, place the board in the parchment paper into the aluminum pouch, and fold the open ends of the aluminum several times to make it air tight. do not open the pouches in the house after the board has baked and cooled.* I went to my garage to get the board out of the pouches. there were exactly no fumes or smells while I did any of this because of the aluminum pouch being sealed by the folds and opening the pouches in my garage. once installed, the board has been working ever since.
Today I have tried this method with my old Philips 32 inch TV that I bought in 2013. A week ago it struggled to receive any orders from the remote or the back panel buttons, but the LED was on the whole time. I baked the board twice because the first time didn't work, but the second worked flawlessly. Thank you!

Just found this wed posting and had the same problem with my 55" LG-LED TV. Took it apart and followed the instructions as stated and I am happily watching my TV again. Took me about two hours to complete the repair and hopefully this will save me buying another TV in the future. Thanks for sharing this idea with all of us! Paul

Just tried this on an LG 55LW5700 55 Inch: Preheated the oven to 385, baked for 10 minutes exactly, allowed to cool for 30 minutes. I went the cardboard method with a sheet of aluminum foil on top. 100% worked, TV powered on and gave me the "Life is Good" slogan and I agreed. Thanks for this video and for all the comments on various methods!
Baked a board from an older 42" LG. Went with 300 degrees for 15 minutes. It worked!

Nice video, it worked for my LG 47LW5600. local tech got me $40 for checking what was wrong with it, and said it was the mainboard/useless. i was not patient to wait for the part to be ordered and wait... got it home and tried the beaking, worked. you saved me buying new, thanks!!!
My LG 42LV5400 that is 5 yrs old suddenly went dead last night. Pressing the power button only showed red light briefly then went dead with no pictures at all. I've been looking at videos where you need to replace bad capacitors. Then I found your baking method. Two hours ago I opened up the back of the tv and inspected everything. The power supply board had no bad caps so I went ahead and baked the motherboard. Now my tv is back working again. I baked computer motherboard before to fix issues and didn't know this method also worked for tv mobo. Thank you very much!

Bought a 55" 120Htz 55LE5400 from someone on Craigslist for $40 that was freezing on the LG logo like this, thanks to you I had it up and running again in less than an hour. I was simply floored that this worked, thanks SO much guys. As a side not, the smell really wasn't a big deal. Just smelled like well used computers did in the 90s for a bit.
Thank you so much I'm not going to lie I did doubt you for a second but now that I see I've done it for myself for my 60 inch LG I got it in 2011 it's a 60p z550 plasma TV put in the oven 10 minutes and it worked!!! usually I don't comment on these UA-cam videos but on this one I have to because it really worked thanks I really appreciate it you saved me alot of money saved me a good 400 dollars.!! means a lot to me God bless!!

Worked for me!! HDMI ports went out a year ago and the rotating cube happened last night. Baked for 10 minutes at 385 degrees. Then let sit for 20 -30 minutes until cool to the touch and Boom! shit worked. HDMI and all! Thanks Avrim!
P.S. turn on your vent!!! Had slight smell but nothing bad.

Thank you! My LG Plasma TV started having issues and everywhere I looked on the internet pointed to a faulty Zsus or Ysus. I came across your video and thought why not? Baking my main board completely fixed my TV.
Crazy, right?! Well I had nothing to lose. I've taken my 60pz550 to a repair shop and they said they wouldn't fix, it would be cheaper to buy a new one instead. I shopped online for a new motherboard and nothing. So I baked mine, said a prayer and viola! I'm watching tv again! Thank you sooo much for your video! Not one penny spent. A friend had put his LG 47LE5400 out to the curb for trash pick up right before I stopped by. Having an electronics background, I figured I'd try fixing it. When I opened it up, it looked a little more complicated than I expected. I was talking to a co-worker today who said he worked in a TV repair shop prior to this job. He told me to go on youtube and check out baking the board. I found this video and tried it. 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Let it cool in the oven for 20 or 30 minutes, reinstalled it and now I have a working 47" LCD HD TV. Life is good

SoI thought this is so odd that I'll just have to try it! I have a Cello TV that has power, no picture or sound that just stopped working about 2 weeks ago. So I opened it up, took out the mother board and put it in the oven for 10 minutes at 200 degrees C. I let it cool down for about 30 minutes and put the TV back together. It was like having a factory rest. It's now working perfectly. Thank you very much Avrim, your tutorial saved me buying a new TV!!

Absolutely works. My TV died Xmas day. I just did this now. I ordered a new power board thinking it was that. I did 200degree c. Preheat. 10 mins. Cool down, refitted. And straight away it was on. Thank you so much!
Worked for me too. HDMI ports are also OK now (haven't been working for a year).
Disassemble the motherboard (take down all plastic attachements). Pre-heat the oven to 200 degrees C , put it in on a cardboard for 10 min. Leave it for 10-15 min in the oven to cool down slowly. Another 20-30 min outside and reassemble.

Well I ran across your video after I lost the audio in my LG 47LE 5400-UC. I chose to try the baking method before I mailed out the board and spent $75.00. I am very pleased to say it worked and I am much appreciative of your help. I had to modify your method a little because I have an electric over. I banked it 10 minutes at 350 and let it cool outside of the over for 30 minutes. Installed it and everything works great. thanks so much sir.

(2) HDMI in LG TVs dies precisely at 5 years after the TV was manufactured!!!
Unbelievable. My 55LW5600 was manufactured in Nov. 2011 and the HDMI stopped working two days ago. The board was loosely attached to the frame. Maybe LG knew this long ago and did not want to put too much mechanical stress on the board?
Hello Avrim, It's absolument incredible, I putted the electronic card beethoven the oven (my wife thought that I was crazy...!!!), later I made the tested and "voilà" the TV began to work again.

Worked for us! LG 47LW550T back iin business with all HDMIs. Thought we'd have to buy a new TV so this really saved a few quid. Used 190 degrees C for 12 minutes in the oven with some foil over the top and then let it cool for an hour before refitting it. Lets see how long it lasts.

Thank you for sharing this. Worked for me on an LG 42LD690 that had a red glowing power on light fault. 10 mins at 385 F. Was worried that the small components and plastic connectors would melt but no problems and now works great.
Fantastic! I had an issue with the tuner on LG 42LE5500 made in 2010; Digital channels were appearing normal, but analog channels were complete blank; scanning could not find any analog channels; after this baking recepie, it is all working as it should! Alive again in 2018! Many thanks! 👌
I have the same exact TV, bought it at the end of 2010, died about two months ago, or at least the video input from the HDMI ports did. Otherwise, everything worked. Just baked the board in the oven, and now I get a signal on my HDMI port.

I had fixed a Dell XPS laptop similarly a few years back... Avrim's youtube video worked for me. One day, about when it was just over 5 years old... it would not recognize HDMI inputs. The HDMI input was not greyed out, it recognized the HDMI device (I use a Video receiver) was plugged in but the rotating LG square logo said no inputs....
So I take the back off, remove the motherboard and bake at 375+/_ for 10 minutes.... And put it all back together and the set now recognizes all 4 HDMI inputs!
One word of caution, there are two signal ribbons for screen display. I did not re-seat one completely. so one side was good, but the other had vertical lines. Moral is do not put all the screws in before testing. I seated the signal ribbon wire correctly and boom! I got my set working again. Many thx to Avrim.

My LG had constant black screen after showing what HDMI it was on, so I tried this oven fix, nothing to lose right?

Worked great! I have an LG 60pz550-ua. The sound stopped working and then all the HDMI ports stopped working. Put the board in the oven for 10mins and it’s working perfectly again.
Just got mine out of the oven. It doesn't smell as bad as some say. I just turned the oven fan on high and got a fan pointing OUT the kitchen window (to blow the air OUT) and the smell never really left the kitchen area. Waiting for it to cool now so I'll be back to let y'all know if it worked for me.
EDIT: Got my LG back together and back up on the wall. Plugged in all the wires and all my HDMI inputs work now... Life is Good!
I initially thought this was a joke and was hesitant to try it. After I found other examples of people doing this with computer motherboards and video cards I decided to give it a try. I had nothing to lose. I followed the directions exactly as in the video and now my TV (LG 47LE5400) works great.

Just fixed my LG 3D LED TV 55LW5700 using hot air gun 370°C only on IC101 for 2 minutes (remove the heatsink) and it WORKS, thank you for the video.
The problem was no video, no backlight, red indicator was flashing (slow).
Before that I checked the power supply, it was fine, PWR-ON 3.5 volt, 12&24 volt in P201, and 56 volt (63v when backlight is on) in C256&C257
Worked like a charm for me... 10 -12 minutes in a 280 degree oven, some connectors are loose upon removal so go easy. After 15 / 20 minutes reinstalled board and it worked. Thanks Avrim...:-)
Avrim, many thanks for sharing your fix. I had the same problem with a 5 year-old LG Model 42LE5400. I followed your instructions and it worked. I used a small electric oven. I did it in my garage to avoid any smell and fumes. I pre-heated the oven to 375/380, then placed the board inside on a piece of cardboard in the middle of the oven, closed the door, turned the temperature up to 395/400 and left it for 15 minutes, then switched off, opened the door and blew air with a fan over the oven to cool it all down and blow the fumes out of my garage door opening.... after 10 minutes, it had cooled down completely. I replaced the motherboard and the TV was working again. Thanks!

Worked for mother in laws 8 year old LG television. Was black screen and no sound, now working as normal. Will wait and see if the fix is temporary or long lasting. Made my day!
I can't believe it!!! I'm stunned! It worked! We have a Plasma LG 50PK950 and the inputs suddenly stopped working. Figuring we had nothing to lose. We baked it at 385 degrees for 10 min, and let it cool in the oven with the door open. We did open doors and had fans exhausting the bad air out! I called a TV repair guy and it would have cost approximately $150 to repair! Thank you so much for the much needed (inexpensive) repair!
It's been 4 months and it just did the same thing! The board is back in the oven, fingers crossed it works again. One note when we did it last time the power button/remote wouldn't work but for some reason when I powered on our Fire TV it would power on the TV! We just made it work!
Well, it worked again!!!!!! And now the remote works now too! Let's see how long it last this time! We'll keep doing it as long as it works!
I did this when sound went out on my LG 47LB5DF UL TV (2007 Build) and was pleasantly surprised when the sound system came back on.
Cooked it in oven for 10 minutes at 385 degrees.

Hi, I "had" the same problem, note that I wrote "had" I removed the mother board wrapped it in tinfoil, put it in my oven for 10 minutes at 196 degrees centigrade, no smell really to speak of, fitted it back in the tv, plugged it in to the mains and the result is my TVs is as good as it was before it stopped working. So if you have this problem, have a go it cost me nothing but a few minutes of concern about nothing and ended up with a great result! Thank you, and thank all the others who took the plunge and motivated me to have a go!!

I am stunned. It absolutely worked. Thanks for posting this. I've seen nay-sayers elsewhere on the 'net who think we're mad for doing this but it's worth it because it works!! The only alternative was an out of warranty board replacement so I thought it was worth a punt! Glad I did it!

I was the office today (Sept 27, 2018). My wife called me on the phone, said the TV (LG 47LW6500) went out. Oh boy, had it! It would power on, but show no video (not even menus), and play no audio. I bought it in 2011, so even my extended warrenty had expired. So, I took out the motherboard and baked it at 385F for 10 minutes. When the timer went off, I turned the oven off, and opened the door. I let it sit in the oven for 30 minutes. I then took it out of the oven and let it cool an extra 15 minutes. I put the TV back together.... and it worked perfectly!!
UPDATE: Just today (October 2nd, 2021) my TV went out again. I repeated the same steps as I mentioned above, and it's back to working great!
we recently did this by putting our whole tv in our shed on a super hot day and it worked!!!! we will have a video coming out about it soon!!!!

It really works on mine LG 42LE5500 TV. Tried it yesterday thinking that I going to dispose the faulty TV anyway, so no harm trying. Unbelievably, it works and bring back my 8 years old TV to life. I covered the main board with aluminium foil before placing it into the oven afraid that it will further damaged my oven. Set the temperature to 200 degreeC and 10mins. Left it cool and screw back. Surprise everything works as per normal. Thanks!

Unbelievable, baking the board worked! I have an LG 42LE5400 which lost it's picture and sound. I opened the TV up to get the main board part number with every intention of simply ordering a new one. I quickly learned the main board for this model is very hard to find. I, therefore, decided to try "baking" the board per this video's example. I put it back together and it works again. I do not know how long it will work, but I am simply amazed it worked at all. Wow.
I pretty much have the same LG TV from about 2009 and have used this trick about once per year for the past 5 years. Works like a charm everytime! I'm also getting pretty fast at taking it apart and putting it back together. Nbd.

This worked for my TV too! LG 42lv5500 screen and sound went blank while watching a movie. TV would turn on, but no picture/sound. Baked the motherboard in tin foil 10 min 385 degrees, let cool, and it's back working. Very easy process, and thank you to Avrim Fishkind for posting this video!!!

This works! I wished I had googled this before I paid the TV repair guy $100 to tell me he could not find the part. My 57 Inch LG is back up and running after laying on the floor for a month. I was days away from dumping it and now it works.
Tim Summers bro I did this on my lg lv5500 for 10 min and it work for one day . Then I did it 15 min but this time I install a laptop fan on the heatsink , I use sub too power the fan . 2 weeks and still working.

My LG 50NL5400 died (No picture). I tried this trick as a last resort. 385F for 10 minutes. Pre-heated the oven and put a good oven thermometer to double check temp. In it went and COMPLETE FAIL. The chips came off, the connectors melted, the cardboard was catching on fire and it STUNK!!! Time to shop for a new TV !
Did this today and the tv now works.

Our current living-room tv (55" Vizio) was a dumpster find about 3.5 years ago. Rained on, sand all over it, wouldn't fire up. My 13 year old (at the time) says we should bake the board. We did. It worked! It has stopped working a few times but everytime it acts up we bake it again. Probably done it 3 or 4 times and are doing it again today. Let's hope we get another year or so out of this one. 🤞

holy shit, unbelievable, it worked!! My LG LE5400 55" tv died 2 months ago (bought 2/2011); Just went blank while I was watching it. I narrowed it down to the mainboard as the problem. The lights powered up, but no sound or picture. I haven't had issues with the HDMI ports, but came across this and figured I would have nothing to lose. I baked the board for 10 minutes at appx 375-385f (wrapped in foil to reduce the smell as another commenter posted, but on cardboard). Let it cool for about 30 minutes, reinstalled, and turned it on. My tv works again! Don't know how long this fix will hold, but do it! Thanks for posting this Avrim!
Worked!!! on my LG 60PN6500. TV would shut off randomly during use (sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 1 hour) progressively got worse and worse. I installed a fan behind the TV which helped for awhile, then I had to open the window to cool the TV and it would work again (-10C in Toronto right now) Decided enough is enough. Baked it in the oven 385 for 8 minutes. Let it cool on the top of the oven. Reinstalled it 10 minutes later. And voila. Literally Magic. No more shutting off, even removed the desk fan from the back.

Parimal Ghelani yeah it honestly worked for me. Still works today like brand new, don't even need the fan to cool it anymore. So grateful I found this video. Give it a shot it was 100% successful for me.

my microwave has convection mode, microwave mode and grill mode. Which is that i use??? Plz answer
I wouldn't put it in a microwave. I would use an oven (even a toaster oven), perhaps I misunderstood though. I would chose convection mode. Grill mode should also work, as long as the element on the top isn't lit. (you don't want it to be hotter than 385F. (400F is probably the highest)

Convection (i think it microwaves and then switches on the fan, but. Ot the heating element overhead)
Grill ( visually see the heating element glowing red)
Anyways after that didn't work. I borrowed a heat gun and did that direct blowing around the mosfets and audio chip. But it didn't work either.
Card is fine still. I mean still in the same situation. Picture fine and no sound.
Should i try convection mode?
