    I like the blindfold idea. Closing your eyes works, but a blindfold really closes that sense out and forces you to enhance and embrace the others. I'm definitely gonna try this eventually (since I'm a noob still).

    Thanks, I was doubting myself, because I wanted to record something for my aunt, who got really hit by depression lately, but I felt it wasn't good enough so I've been delaying it every day for like a week, but maybe it doesn't need to be perfect for it to do something good.
    Have a good day and try to stay positive everyone, if not it's okay, but it's going to get better.

    Glad you’re feeling better! I was diagnosed with tendinitis in both wrists after beginning cello last year. Some days you just can’t play. It’s a process learning to move and maneuver in news ways so you don’t aggravate the condition. I’m an amateur but I can sY from experience that it gets better.

    Jonathan,, this was a very heartfelt and important video to make, on several points. I got a particular smile from your remarks about using a blindfold!!! Although I haven’t taught in a while, I suggested to every student, from the first day, that they set aside at least one practice per week blindfolded, or with the lights off. The point was for them to ‘hear through their fingers’. I’ve done it for years myself, and it is so helpful, regardless the instrument. It helps one to own each note and give it weight and respect. Merci’!

    I was diagnosed with tendonitis / trigger thumb right hand about five years ago and shortly after working my butt off on the second prelude / Bach. I had to wear wrist splint, take it easy, alter my playing, etc. still have it but not as painful as it first started. I have a rubber grip on my bow that is helpful.

    Hi Jonathan
    I started cello with a history of low back pain. Having to sit straight while playing can make it worse. Your video has been encouraging.

    I'm about to have surgery on my right hand. The thought of no cello or violin for a minimum of 6 weeks, makes me so sad and anxious. At least I have you to watch and enjoy. Thank you for inspiring me to look forward! Hope you are doing well

    Thanks for your great content! It really helped in restarting my Cello life. Could you maybe make a video on tuning the cello by ear? What is your procedure and how can we practice it?

    Glad you have recovered. Noticed that you also come back from Perpetual to Larsen and back to Krentz and not Theunis.. Which Larsen is it?

    • @CelloCoach
      @CelloCoach  3 роки тому +1

      Nice! You are very keen to notice that, Chanop. The Theunis is on the Yamaha, since the months are warming my 7/8 needs more robust wolf diffusion. As for the strings, these are the new Il Canone "Warm" from Larsen and ... I love them!
