    Actually, I liked it fast. I don't have time to sit through dozens of slow paced tutorials and listen to the guy or girl ramble on, possibly talking about their cat or something. This was straight, to the point, I followed it pretty well. It was good for someone somewhat familiar with it, and just needed a refresher.

    @MultiHetare now with you saying it... unfortunately I recorded this with very little fps for performance saving :(
    I think I will go through my video, and make a new one showing all tools that I used on this one.
    And explain keyboard shortcuts, tool settings, and stuff like that - would you like that?

    @xSege123x yep sry, I should have called this one "speed modeling or so"
    but if you want any modeling tips, just send a message, i'll help you out :)

    Well, its just selecting the edges and running the extrude too.
    I just use both move tools, the extrude move and the standard move tool.
    Note that the extrude move tool works along the vertex normal and may give you strange results. Sometimes its better using the standard move or even the scale tool.
    Did you check out my "Cloth Modeling Techniques" and the step by step Cloth Modeling videos? Most things were explained there..

    Whether I use nCloth or no depends on many things.
    But If I need to have "life" in the cloth I do use nCloth.
    There is a video on that on my channel if you are interested...

    @AdeptusSteve yess PLEASE! go over the steps, tools EVERYTHING you did in this tutorial. I have been looking for a tutorial on nCloth for ever but it's really hard to find! even the paid ones are not that good. WE THE UA-cam COMMUNITY WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU MAKE A TUTORIAL JUST LIKE THIS ONE BUT WITH A BREAK DOWN OF THE TECHNIQUES USED. THANK YOU! :)

    Everything I work with is self-made, whenever I use 3rd party assets, I credit the source...

    Mh, you may have the right thought.. This one is not suitable to fit in a game engine - although it has "just" 4.4k vertices, but I think I could reduce it even further If I really needed to..

    a hour of work. my problem is... the fear that I might mess up lol.
    So now that I have watched this, I think the best way to make clothes is just to go crazy with it lol.

    how do you make one object "temporarily invisible" when you want to work on another? also, how do you smooth the edges of the box to fit the appearance of a shirt, like what tool did you use in the program and how do u get to it?

  • @Maackan95
    @Maackan95 12 років тому

    do you use ncloth afterwards or is it done like that?
    How do you do when you animate this to get "life" in the torso?

  • @aIexyeah

    how do you extrude out the vertices/edges, kinda like what you did for the collar?

  • @AdeptusSteve
    @AdeptusSteve  11 років тому

    The ropes are curves, extruded with a nurbs circle.

    only took one hour XD. took me 3 hours just three mins into the video. then again its my first time clothing modeling. quick question. is there a way we can make this a lower poly and still get the great amount of detail? I am currently working on a game but the shirt seems a little too high poly. unless do you use the baking technique? any feedback is appreciated.

    • @AdeptusSteve
      @AdeptusSteve  6 років тому

      Hey, yes there is, you should look into normal map baking :)

    I'm working on some traditional Japanese clothing, its tricky. Hakama in particular (more specifically the ones with split legs.) There are a lot of specific creases in the material. And after that I need to figure a way to tie it off around the ankles somehow, could you please help? If nothing else it would be a challenge for you.

    • @AdeptusSteve
      @AdeptusSteve  9 років тому

      Ok, just googled it, doesnt look a too complex thing to do.. You know about marvelous designer? since I even found blueprints for that Hakama thing on google images, im sure youre able to model it with that quite quickly.

    How about some words to go with this. Unless you know what you are doing in maya this video is pointless.
