I've still got a copy of the audio recording I made of this and the Motorhead show from when it was originally broadcast. They did a dual TV and radio broadcast of the 2 shows, I taped it from Radio Trent. Thanks for posting this, great memories and great to see it again !
on Radio Trent and the other Midlands commercial stations in STEREO - which wasn't available on TV's at the time - hard to believe! Radio Trent for me too.
I was there too. The thing I remember most was a) the afternoon start time and b) all the chairs flying across the rows during Motorhead's set. Great stuff. I've seen both bands recently - Motorhead on their Kiss of Death tour. Still excellent. With great respect to the late, great Kelly Johnson Girlschool are sounding better than ever.
Because there will never be another Kelly Johnson. Kim was a fantastic songwriter and very solid rhythm guitar player but Kelly was really special, she helped take them to another level.
Thancks for your comments! Much appreciated! This was the only gig from the series which I saw live - it was amazing. TV at the time was only broadcast in mono so this series was broadcast simultaneouesly in stereo on local radio stations.
Kelly Johnson was so cool that had she lived any longer the earth might have split wide open and fell out of orbit. It would have been worth it. Love Girl School then and now.
I promoted the gig at Carlton Forum! I also filmed a video of the show in B&W but the sound was so awful I wiped the tape. Pity really as it would probably have been worth keeping inspite of the audio.
Four ladies. In normal clothes. Playing guitars and drums. Playing them well. Reminding this is rock as it should be. Love and respect.
Like L7 and Maid of ACE
@@StefanoDallAgata I used to have L7's debut. My favorite tune from that album was 'Everglade.'
Every live recording with Kelly Johnson is a real treasure!
She was a treasure
