Because the boat was sinking. If you go into that water, it’s so cold that you will get disorientated and won’t know where you are. Therefore, they would’ve died anyways.

We used to have huge wolves where I live, and only 100 years ago the villagers would catch them and put them in cages for the townsfolk to look at. Eventually they were all killed and we don’t have to carry any firearms anywhere.

theres a story of a party of like 5 explorers in the 1700s i think, and a polar bear just straight up snatched one and walked off while the other 4 lit it up. shot it 4 times, and it didnt react once.
