i dont think its the gel, its the buns. keeping your hair in buns for days and weeks is horrible for your hairline. and baby hairs are baby hairs because i know many people who have shaved their head and grown it back still grow baby hairs.
Very true. It’s important to take out the bun at least every night and moisturize and take care of your hair and not pulling too tight when it’s in a bun
My husband uses hair gel since he was 10 years old. He is 35 now and his hair is much healthier than mine. I don't use any gel. But he uses the strongest gel he can find. I really wonder why his hair is in better condition than mine. His hair is so thick and sturdy and don't even break off. Sometimes he sleeps with the gel in his hair. This is what makes me wonder the thing with the eco styler gel.
Are you certain it isn't the manipulation? That is what generally breaks hair, not so much the product. Very true gels can be harsh, however the combing/brushing/pulling etc. is what does the damage. All the best on your journey!

I noticed after one week that eco gel caused my hair to break down and become dry and brittle. I really wanted to like it as well , especially the black castor oil and flaxseed one . I now use Alikay Creme brulee and Kinky Curly Knot today . I will try the gels you have in your video. Thanks for the info.

I agree it happened gradually and over time for me. But I noticed a difference when I stopped using eco. I now lay my edges with an edge control (mielle) or simply conditioner with a satin scarf. Thanks for sharing & I pray all is better for you now.
People saying that 'its not the gel' IT IS THE GEL THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. I use to have healthy hair and I used the olive oil eco it made my edges thick and terrible before I used the gel my edges were fine and it blended in my ponytail now my edges are breaking off and it's thick. The olive oil break my edges and make it short and when I put my hair in high buns my edges pick out and it's thick the same thing happened to me and it's still like that I treated it but it still terrible it's so thick when I do my edges it comes out
U can also use ur butter creamz as edge controlz. Smooth it on, wrap with a scarf and they lay down. Someone hip me to it long ago. I used TGIN Buttercream Daily moisturizer, it workz great. Idk, i just dont invest n edge controlz or alot of gelz. Havent n yearz. Hope dis helpz. ☺
It's the toothbrush! I had to stop with the toothbrush on my edges. I don't use gel, so I don't know about that, but... That damn toothbrush!😱 No no no
Nightfox Rushing yesss! Everybody keep mentioning the edge controls or gels but that damn toothbrush is the edges killer. At least for me. I stopped using it months ago and the spot I noticed thinning grew back.

Same thing has happened too me. Eco styler gel has made my hair dry and has caused it to break off around my hairline and in the back. It did it before but I wasn’t sure it was the eco so I started using it again and it happened again. And I’m like you my hair retains protein so I don’t need additional protein like gel. The same thing happened to me. I was a new Natural and loving the convenience of sleek buns that lasted a week or 2, then noticed what was happening to the edges. I think the protein was also too much for me, along with the stress of having my hair pulled back all the time. That was a few years ago. My edges haven't fully recovered yet, but I'm gentler with them and my new gel of choice is The Mane Choice gel, of which I only use a little at a time, and I no longer gel it to stay in place for a week or more. As for protein, I use the Aphogee spray that comes in the gold bottle lightly on wash day (Not the 2-step one in the packet).

Just starting shingling my hair. Got the argan eco styler. After 1 week of major post nasil drip, clogged nostril and inner ear, and FINALLY my scalp was inflamed itching and on FIRE. Came to your channel after looking up 'itchy scalp eco styler'. My family has been gluten-free for 6 years and eco has gluten The rest of this is going in the garbage and I'm goin to file a complaint with Eco styler. Going to get me some good ole flaxseed to make my own gel again.
Carbomer (acrylic acid) in the hair gel I used to use was dissolving my hair until it popped/broke off. My hair doesn't like proteins either but the gel I replaced it with, Super Wet, is protein free and still thinned my edges and broke my hair off. I switched to another one by Mane Choice, Crystal Orchid which does not have acrylic acid in it, but it does have aloe leaf juice in it so is a natural mild protein, which is a bit drying, but better than having my hair gradually dissolve from acrylic acid. Acrylic acid actually corrodes metal. The Wetline gel has sodium hydroxide ( lye aka caustic soda) in it so that is a definite No-No for me. The Mane Choice Crystal Orchid has been doing good for me so far.
Eco gel has torn my hair up so BAD. I wish there was something legally that I could do about it. I’m so scared my hair won’t be restored. I’m so hurt by this experience with Eco gel. 😞
Honestly, I agree to when I use it. It doesn't break off my hair it just leaves white residue and flakes and it never keeps my hair or my edges layed NEVER stays slicked (also not to mention gel is water based)

I’ve noticed that my hair start thinning and the parameters around my hairline start thinning. Also, that gel called TAMER does the same thing! It’s funny because my hair looks just like hers now. It’s the gel no questions . My hairstylist wanted me about using this.
@@EishaTaylore I know, it makes your hair look good. But this gel even took away my curl pattern. I had to do a hot oil treatment and still not the same. I would have to do a couple of them to get my curls back. I’ll never use again.
This eco gel flakes really bad and makes my scalp itch so bad the gel works to define my curls but in few hours tries my hair and flakes really bad I don't like this product
i’ve was using wetline gel for a couple years . it worked good with my hair texture when my hair was damp or wet , but the only thing i didnt like about it is it made my hair really dry . i stop using gels completely and started using leave in conditioners for an alternative
Use alcohol free gels I mixed my with pro styles gel to their new formula alcohol free I use jam to base my hair then coat it with a small amount of pro styles gel my hair stays soft with strong hold ...I also increased my washes and moisturized more often
I too tried the xtreme and I loved it. My hair doesn’t like eco either, and my edges were gone just like yours from buns. And here I was thinking it was my bun breaking my edges 😩
It's nothing wrong with the gel or any helps with silicones and proteins. Always read the ingredients and it's best to know your hair. A lot of young ladies feel that one hair product works for all. Low porosity hair does not work well with proteins like coconut oil and oils like castor oil and silicones. We have to know our hair. My daughter is 20 with hair grade that is curly as ramen noodles and is fine...but thick. She has no problems with eco style gel because of her medium porosity. She has kept her hair short since playing sports 5 years ago throughout high school and her edges are fine. Before that, I was the only one to take care of her head since birth with it down to her lower back until she wanted to cut it. She's never had an edge problem and besides wavy baby hair, her strands from edge to edge was down her back...even after using gel for years.

It’s strange , but I purchased Eco styler gel for the first time ever this was - the Gold edition with (black castor oil , Shea butter , Oliver Oil and flaxseed oil and sadly after about a week of using it I noticed that my edges started getting thinner and thinner and the hairs at the back of my head started breaking off too ! This has never happened to me before with products I have used. So I stopped using it straight away.. I just wish that i had seen this video before I bought it otherwise I would never had bought it 🙁

stop saying its the bun. i have short natural hair that I cant put into a bun. i recently went from the regular eco styler to the red lid one (forget the name) BUT i noticed my edges have started to be sparse, itchy & dry. itchy to where I bleed a bit. i def have to stop for awhile to figure out what it is. i do not use much in my hair. i wash it, and use this with my curls.

Omg same I use the olive oil and my mom said 'Your edges are getting short, prickly and thick' I was like yep I knew something was going wrong I still use it but I don't do my edges as much as I use to or I don't use a lot.
I don't know you or your hair but I don't know if its the gel. it might be the styles you do. the buns for example. your edges and hairline being pulled back for long periods of time. thats not good for certain hair types. I know if I'm doing a style that requires stress on my hairline I never leave it in the style for more than a weak. and I always make sure the next week I let my hairline be free and do its thing. I have low porosity,low density hair like you and Eco styler argon oil is my babe😂😂
I don’t only use eco styler gel for buns. I tried it was wash n go’s and to sleek my edges when in braids. So I know it’s the gel. My edges were fine when doing the same styles when using a pomade as opposed to eco. So my edges only got worse once I switched to that gel
I love eco , when i first started using it & i had the olive oil one I thought it made my hair dry & britte but (it flakes my hair up so bad nomatter what method I did )but my go to one is the Aryan oil one & my hair don't feel dry at all, but I had change my way of putting it in I first put coconut oil on my hair then a moisturizer & then add the eco gel (The red one ) . My hair not dry , flakey at all it have a little bit of a crunch to it but my hair still fluffy .
Flaxseed hair gel, it defines and moisturizes curly hair without creating stiffness. It work just fine for my hair. I’m not much a fan of hair gel since being a natural.
I onced bought gel for just one dollar it worken much better then my eco gel it didnt get hard it didnt got sticky bo weird products in it nothing Do not use eco gel
I think it's broken hair for those who always wear tight styles that stress the hairline. It could also be stress breakage. I had a bald spot that is just getting out of the baby hair stage due to stress.
same with mine! I thought my edges were more frizzy and short bc of an allergic reaction to this weave I had but it's been about 2 years since then & the only thing that has been consistent is my eco so it had to be that!
You should research the ingredients in EcoStyler gel. They removed most all of the questionable ingredients in in the Black Castor Flaxseed formula. Your hair looks really soft in texture, it probably doesn’t like anything too harsh. LaBella is awesome. I use the blue formula also, it has more hold than the Avocado formula.

Like i did not have edges i just had full long hair all around the boarders of my hair where most peoples edges would be lol. It's diffidently the gel To the people saying "it's in other things we have lik oh diva curl, and oh nails" but those "chemicals" don't AFFECT ME, this Eco gel has been IRRATATING my damn skin!! My skin is breaking out and I've almost had an allergic reaction. Yeah our air has chemicals but that doesn't make me have any IRRATATING or allergic reactions. This Eco gel has something else, to be in it and the other products don't do Anything but this product and only this one needs to be cancelled. This affects me, but all these other products with the same thing do not. We're not trying to cancel anything were trying to spread imfkrmation so that IT CAN Abe cancelled if anybody else has the same exact situations as us

I switched to another one by Mane Choice, Crystal Orchid which does not have acrylic acid in it, but it does have aloe leaf juice in it so is a natural mild protein, which is a bit drying, but better than having my hair gradually dissolve from acrylic acid. Acrylic acid actually corrodes metal. The Wetline gel has sodium hydroxide ( lye aka caustic soda) in it so that is a definite No-No for me. The Mane Choice Crystal Orchid has been doing good for me so far.
The only thing about the mane choice gel is that is flakes and it’s a bit sticky for my liking.
Eco gel has torn my hair up so BAD. I wish there was something legally that I could do about it. I’m so scared my hair won’t be restored. I’m so hurt by this experience with Eco gel. 😞

Honestly, I agree to when I use it. It doesn't break off my hair it just leaves white residue and flakes and it never keeps my hair or my edges layed NEVER stays slicked (also not to mention gel is water based)

I’ve noticed that my hair start thinning and the parameters around my hairline start thinning. Also, that gel called TAMER does the same thing! It’s funny because my hair looks just like hers now. It’s the gel no questions . My hairstylist wanted me about using this.

@@EishaTaylore I know, it makes your hair look good. But this gel even took away my curl pattern. I had to do a hot oil treatment and still not the same. I would have to do a couple of them to get my curls back. I’ll never use again.
Try doing an Indian clay mask or any clay mask to detox your hair.
This eco gel flakes really bad and makes my scalp itch so bad the gel works to define my curls but in few hours tries my hair and flakes really bad I don't like this product

i’ve was using wetline gel for a couple years . it worked good with my hair texture when my hair was damp or wet , but the only thing i didnt like about it is it made my hair really dry . i stop using gels completely and started using leave in conditioners for an alternative

Use alcohol free gels I mixed my with pro styles gel to their new formula alcohol free I use jam to base my hair then coat it with a small amount of pro styles gel my hair stays soft with strong hold ...I also increased my washes and moisturized more often

I too tried the xtreme and I loved it. My hair doesn’t like eco either, and my edges were gone just like yours from buns. And here I was thinking it was my bun breaking my edges 😩
It's nothing wrong with the gel or any helps with silicones and proteins. Always read the ingredients and it's best to know your hair. A lot of young ladies feel that one hair product works for all. Low porosity hair does not work well with proteins like coconut oil and oils like castor oil and silicones. We have to know our hair. My daughter is 20 with hair grade that is curly as ramen noodles and is fine...but thick. She has no problems with eco style gel because of her medium porosity. She has kept her hair short since playing sports 5 years ago throughout high school and her edges are fine. Before that, I was the only one to take care of her head since birth with it down to her lower back until she wanted to cut it. She's never had an edge problem and besides wavy baby hair, her strands from edge to edge was down her back...even after using gel for years.

It’s strange , but I purchased Eco styler gel for the first time ever this was - the Gold edition with (black castor oil , Shea butter , Oliver Oil and flaxseed oil and sadly after about a week of using it I noticed that my edges started getting thinner and thinner and the hairs at the back of my head started breaking off too ! This has never happened to me before with products I have used. So I stopped using it straight away.. I just wish that i had seen this video before I bought it otherwise I would never had bought it 🙁

If you don't want that for your hair, Just wash it like once or twice a week...You could still use the same gel tho...I know wat ingredient is causing this, it's trieothanlomine. Something like that
This happened to me!! I had crazy breakage in my hair, couldn't understand why. Until I read a review was the same as my hair. I stopped using it, I no longer have hair breakage.

stop saying its the bun. i have short natural hair that I cant put into a bun. i recently went from the regular eco styler to the red lid one (forget the name) BUT i noticed my edges have started to be sparse, itchy & dry. itchy to where I bleed a bit. i def have to stop for awhile to figure out what it is. i do not use much in my hair. i wash it, and use this with my curls.

Yeah Ecostyler was good as I trainsitioned... but I stopped after learning about EDTA...🙄🤦♀️...Camille Curl Maker and RanPure Styling Gel is really nice...The ingredients are better...👍

Omg same I use the olive oil and my mom said 'Your edges are getting short, prickly and thick' I was like yep I knew something was going wrong I still use it but I don't do my edges as much as I use to or I don't use a lot.
This happened to me no I have bald spots on my edges and struggling to grow it back
Try using Jamaican black castor oil and applying every night or every other night with 15 minute scalp massages
I don't know you or your hair but I don't know if its the gel. it might be the styles you do. the buns for example. your edges and hairline being pulled back for long periods of time. thats not good for certain hair types. I know if I'm doing a style that requires stress on my hairline I never leave it in the style for more than a weak. and I always make sure the next week I let my hairline be free and do its thing. I have low porosity,low density hair like you and Eco styler argon oil is my babe😂😂
I don’t only use eco styler gel for buns. I tried it was wash n go’s and to sleek my edges when in braids. So I know it’s the gel. My edges were fine when doing the same styles when using a pomade as opposed to eco. So my edges only got worse once I switched to that gel

I love eco , when i first started using it & i had the olive oil one I thought it made my hair dry & britte but (it flakes my hair up so bad nomatter what method I did )but my go to one is the Aryan oil one & my hair don't feel dry at all, but I had change my way of putting it in I first put coconut oil on my hair then a moisturizer & then add the eco gel (The red one ) . My hair not dry , flakey at all it have a little bit of a crunch to it but my hair still fluffy .
I agree creating a barrier with oils and a moisturizer before the gel definitely helps! I just don’t think eco styler agrees with my hair though 😞

Flaxseed hair gel, it defines and moisturizes curly hair without creating stiffness. It work just fine for my hair. I’m not much a fan of hair gel since being a natural.

You should research the ingredients in EcoStyler gel. They removed most all of the questionable ingredients in in the Black Castor Flaxseed formula. Your hair looks really soft in texture, it probably doesn’t like anything too harsh.
LaBella is awesome. I use the blue formula also, it has more hold than the Avocado formula.

Like i did not have edges i just had full long hair all around the boarders of my hair where most peoples edges would be lol. I started using ecostyler faith fully for the past 6 months and now my hair is thinning. I couldn't understand why until now.. It's diffidently the gel To the people saying "it's in other things we have lik oh diva curl, and oh nails" but those "chemicals" don't AFFECT ME, this Eco gel has been IRRATATING my damn skin!! My skin is breaking out and I've almost had an allergic reaction. Yeah our air has chemicals but that doesn't make me have any IRRATATING or allergic reactions. This Eco gel has something else, to be in it and the other products don't do Anything but this product and only this one needs to be cancelled. This affects me, but all these other products with the same thing do not. We're not trying to cancel anything were trying to spread imfkrmation so that IT CAN Abe cancelled if anybody else has the same exact situations as us

Its because of proteins! You can’t apply protein in your hair all the time .
It jack up my edges too chaull...on those days when my hair was just unmanageable, n I just had to whip it up in something quick. Not to the point where I cant save it though 👐
