movementislife It's not. Vets aren't really required to know how to treat exotic animals such as rodents or reptiles. Most vets around where I live only treat cats and dogs
This is why I really admire and respect older people like Dr. Pol. He's so smart and hardworking. So much experience and wisdom. Many young people don't appreciate someone special like that.
I love the way that Pol works with animals, especially horses or any sort of prey animals. He already knows how they are going to react and he is ready every single time.
Wow that was really impressive, what a good vet, his knowledge and skill is impressive. And definitely a good horse to stand there and take it. That was cool to see.
Nick Peterson if you take a cup of beet pulp and add eight cups of water- you'll see how dangerous this stuff is to horses. Why these morons didn't read the instructions on the bag is beyond me....
Surely at the end of the day, he helped a horse that would have rapidly gone down hill. Horses are fragile when it comes to their throats they can sneeze and cough but are unable to vomit. So the plug of food had to be shifted hands on. Well done is what is needed. Sometimes the simplest of methods work the best.
@@starvoltnexus3139 They technically can vomit, but it's almost impossible for them physically. The eosophagus does a very sharp turn right before it connects to the stomach. So when a horse tries to vomit, the vomit can't actually pass from the stomach and into the eosophagus. Because it has such a sharp bend that it physically can't pass. I've only ever seen a horse vomit once, and I'm a vet. So they technically CAN vomit, but most of them are just physically not able to because of the anatomy, and how the eosophagus connects to the stomach. That's also one reason why horses get colic so easily; they can't vomit so they can't pass up any food item they shouldn't have eaten. We have to use stomach tubes to help them out.
@@wolfsbane1991 I'm not a horse person, I have never owned one and I definitely don't know much about them but at least I learned something new, thanks for explaining!
this clip alone has saved me from many a low sugar treat that is dried beet pulp based. THANK YOU DR POL!!!! i learn every day from you and i am so grateful!
Now that's what I call a Vet. I have a big crush on you Dr. Only a man with an amazing heart would care for your patient's as you do. You take care of business doing whatever needs to be done. They don't make men like you anymore. Blessings.
Actually it depends on what beet pulp you get pellets take 24 hours with cold water but 1 hour with warm. Shreads 1 hour with cold water 30 minutes with warm. Because that's what it says on package and that is what my old boy likes.
Horses can chock on things like dry pulp. Every Saturday, I watch Dr. Pol. Dr. Pol is a good vet and he knows what he is doing. He can take care of any kind of animals like a horse, cow, pig, duck, cat, filly, Colt, calve, kitten, goat, bird, mare, baby pig, baby goat, turkey, young turkey.
Loads of Respect to you Doc! You are SIMPLY AWESOME & an Angel😇 for these animals...that's an absolute pricise diagnosis👀💯%...in each and every animal's case you handle....OMG! No words! God keep you blessed so that in turn you keep helping our animal companions! Long and healthy life to you Doctor! Love, Respect & prayers! 👏😇
AMAZING!! To think that I was in charge of a green-broke 6 year old Mo. Fox Trotter's horse at 16 is quite scary! Glad we both learned, loved and survived!
My shire mare was fed dried beet pulp by some kids who wanted to give her a snack. 3 hours of unsedated flushing, and it was finally fixed. She was such an amazing mare, nothing scared her. I miss her :(
frank just imagine all the animals that will die needless deaths if only the money grubers are allowed to practice! Old time country Dr.s are the best.
me and my friend were planning to open a shelter/vet place. we hadn't really considered working with horses, but I showed her this and we agreed that we would help horses, but would find someone else to do this.
Yeah, I think that's what it is. It seems like no matter what the video is, there is always a tiny little group of people who troll and click "dislike" for no real reason at all. Pathetic idiots, smh.
Huh? They didn't dislike him, they disliked a video. It's just a video folks, anyone can like or dislike any video. That's why the buttons exist. You are taking it WAY too personally.
@@yesorlando05 WTF does trolling have to do with clicking dislike on a video? Clicking dislike is a simple and very polite way to register that a particular video wasn't what you wanted. Trolling is posting garbage in order to aggravate people. What on earth do they have to do with each other?
We had a horse that did this. He was an OTTT, a rescue that wasn't cared for right. A bunch of teenage girls cut his tail too short, when we picked him up he was alone in a pasture. A bag of bones. He was watched and cared for, in a makeshift area to keep the other horses away. He developed this symptom of food running out his nose. We called the ver, who brought a colleague and a throat scanner. It showed his trachea clogged with food. It was determined he had kidney failure, because they found his throat paralyzed, unable to swallow anything. We made him hay tea, but it all came back out his nose. The poor guy was put down right away.
we had to do this to one of the stallions at work, wasn't this easy though... he was terrified, a blood vessel broke so he got a nose bleed and the owner was freaking out because she felt bad for him. The whole operation took two hours and it was blood and water and food and whatnot everywhere. Poor baby :(
A lot of vets in the UK would sedate a horse with choke in order to put the tube in;their logic is that it reduces the stress on the horse whilst they are performing the procedure.
he knows anatomy of each and every creature...that's what makes him amazing
Dhaval Bane he's the modern day doctor dolittle
And he's not one to talk down to people..Dr Pol is Great!!
typically that's the requirement to be a vet 😂
Basic anatomy of all vertebrates is very similar
movementislife It's not. Vets aren't really required to know how to treat exotic animals such as rodents or reptiles. Most vets around where I live only treat cats and dogs
A man whom walks the walk and talks the talk.... I love his no non sense way of working.
Nothing grosses this Man out. I would have tossed my cookies for sure if that got in my mouth.
+Yolanda Danforth After all the years of doing what he does, I'm sure he is plenty used to it.
That's just too much for me to handle Anna Banana. I would have tossed my cookies for sure.
lol meh to (-_-)
Well like he said, atleast it does'nt kill you xD
Vallerina Hill honestly it’s gross but it’s also just hay and grain
This man I know is going to heaven. He is a great man to help the helpless
Where are the "helpless" here, exactly? The horse has rich owners who can pay for any help.
This is why I really admire and respect older people like Dr. Pol. He's so smart and hardworking. So much experience and wisdom. Many young people don't appreciate someone special like that.
This vet is totally dedicated to his patients!
I love how the girl is looking at him like hes insane
She's cute
I men she’s not wrong (about the girl looking at doctor pol
Lol yes but that's how he's became so successful
Why is nobody talking about how beautifull this horse looks??
Nyta - Gore I know! The first thing I thought was how pretty the horse looked...like soft black velvet.😄
Because it looks like a horse
Because there’s a million horses out there just like it
Looks like its got a spade on its head :0
Finally Nat Geo Wild gives something till the end.
lol ikr
I hope I wasn't the only one that found it satisfying when the dirty stuff came out of the horse's nose
so did I lol
Natalie Goh same
chile! I was hella satisfied with seeing that mess
What came out the nose was fluid he was pumping into the esophagus.. Backwash got from the blockage..
I love the way that Pol works with animals, especially horses or any sort of prey animals. He already knows how they are going to react and he is ready every single time.
Very impressive doc! You know your horses!! Thank you for helping this poor horsie!
I love Dr Pol's vet skills and his true love for what he does! There is no one else like him!

Dr. Pol is a master. Pure and simple.
Hello... greetings to you from me Dr Pol
This is why you do your homework. Irresponsible owners. Dried beet pulp = about the worst thing you can ever feed your horse.
+Nick Peterson It's great feed to supplement with other food if you soak it though.
+Caprica oh absolutely - if it's soaked.
Nick Peterson if you take a cup of beet pulp and add eight cups of water- you'll see how dangerous this stuff is to horses. Why these morons didn't read the instructions on the bag is beyond me....
Well if I ever own a horse, I'll know not to give it dried beet pulp.
wow just becaise they didnt know doesnt make them idiots or morons. thats just plain mean.

"Sometimes you get a mouthful of crud" bruh you WHAT
I don't know about all that now... 🤢
Mind blowing skill! !!! Dr. Pol is a hero!!!
He is amazing. I am always stunned by his knowledge and go getter motivation.
That's why you put the beet pulp in water before feeding. It's really hard for them to digest when it's dry.
Dr. Pol is a wonderful vet and people are very lucky to have him there!
There will never be another dr.pol he is totally Hands-On and knows what is he doing!! He learned the old-fashioned way not only books!!
