seems like this sport has become so much less dynamic than I remember years ago. no spin techniques no rear round houses, double kicks that change levels no fakes no feigns fading kicks. it just jousting with the front leg. so much ability in kicking trained in TKD but that this format doesn't showcase (any longer). can anyone tell me why?
Evolution of electronic chest guard! Also, it became a more strategic game than throwing amazing kicks. Now is more about a smart game, smart game brings you medals, throwing amazing kicks does not.
@@panditaleon what ...you trying to tell me that there was less strategy before the electronics hmm doubt that. well guess this is one of those times when things don't evolve in a positive direction. Suppose the judges don't need to work as hard either they just depend on the electronics also the electronics will degrade skill all you have to do is touch an area that will register which means if your kick is crappy but makes contact you score. I've seen it when two are in close one simple lifts their leg like they're gonna do a yoga stretch pose taps the back of the headgear and viola 3pts ...if that's what you mean by strategy.

TKD is dead. They should get rid of the point system or do something drastic to the rules. Refs are also mad annoying. Definitely was different when I was doing it myself in the past.
I love tkd now I might not be old enough to say this but when I started it was still kind of in a time where the fights were more speedy and really interedting and exciting it was when the exciting part was the whole experience now people consider it exciting when someone scores a single kick

Çoğu taekwondoya başlayan kişi zaten daha bacakları oturmadan çıkıyor, ilk aylarda bacakları tir tir titriyor. Bacaklarının tekmelerin için sert bacak açmanın esnek olabilmek için ve kol kaslarının tekmeye karşı çıkmak için sert olması lazım. Taekwondocuyum diyipte daha günde 10 şınavı ıkına ıkına çekemiyorsan diyemezsin. Taekwondo emek işi demekle olmuyor.
There's a difference between thinking and too much waiting. I really want more to happen in fights the whole time I was like go! I think its rediculous they had they fight call like 5 times in the first round
They have to win 5 fights to get to the finals and believe me, constantly raising your leg is harder than it looks. To do this sport you need a lot of stamina.

Yeah this isn't as fun as movies and all that but i think there is interesting fights in taekwondo too.
My first year in tkd, everybody were told to train your front leg to kick so that you wont keep on kicking with your back leg. Now this is the result, every practitioner now are kicking with their front legs constantly. Their body are all expose for a roundhouse kick but they are to busy using their front. Miss the old days
"Fights" like this one give a bad reputation to TKD. TKD has a wide repertoire of kicks and they chose to continuously do the same thing over and over again instead of using different kicks and combos
Exacly man. I go to tkd class myself and there are more hits in the little kids sparring then these grown women. They didnt even switch from leg to leg and barely any punches at all when given the chance
So true i am a black nelt and i had so many fights and a lot of those who i fought with only used the same kicks it's just too easy to beat the if you continously use different kichs because than it's harder for others to read you

congrats to the girl that won but dam they were only using there front legs like you they have 2 legs to do a roundhouse from the back leg if they were to spar someone from where im from they’ll get hurt or loose we do multiple kick not just one or 2 kick then step back and try to get a point from punching we have to puch someone hard enough to nock them to the ground not just hit them and you get the point this is why olympic taekwondo is not as interesting as it was like 14 and many years ago
The problem with tournaments is the girls are too worried to make the make the move which don't look like or feel as a proper fight even just a comp. The boys are most brutal in TDK. They don't waste time looking for a opening.
Not really as an taekwondo player. We should find a place to fight you know and the timing of the kick sometimes. I sometimes hate people dont understand the modern taekwondo.. they think they ``Know this sport/matial arts`` always and know their ``techniques`` somehow.
well most of the actual taekwondo fights are mostly based on front leg kicks and that kinda sucks cus you arent demonstrating all the kicks and technics you know
