Can a Tractor Drain a Flood Plain? - John Deere 4052R Moves Some Dirt, and a LOT of Water!

- While waiting on the pond to fill up, we inadvertently created a 2nd pond! We have an immense amount of standing water on our property. It looks like a flood plain and we need to drain it into the pond! The Case 580K backhoe is currently out of commission, so we will see if Big Green (John Deere 4052R) can take care of it!
I❤ JOHN DEERE
Good job
lovely content
Woo hoo! Congrats on 800 subs. I like the diversity of your posts.
I suggest dynomite to blow a 3 or 4 foot ravine from the 2nd pond to the 1st. Maybe more dynamite throughout the new pond to motivate the water..then try some more dynamite here and there for effect
I did not properly understand what occured the second pond, can you point it out again for me please
Basically, our dirt pile caused a bunch of water to pool. We had to drain it into the pond!
@@IndyFarmLife yes, I saw it....seeing it draining into the pond was beyond satisfying.
But were did allthe water come from. I understand the pile built a huge wall....but why was there so much water....where did it come from and where would it normaly go to without the pile?
Huge fan of your project. How many m² is the pond?
Too bad you don't have some rip rap handy to put on the slope and mitigate the errorsion issue. But that pond is so deep, this probably won't hurt it.
Awesome content!!! My question is from a video you made a long time ago. You mentioned about putting new brakes on your 580k, was it a horrible job. Is it as bad as others have made it seem to be? Can’t find many videos about it.
Would it not have worked better and faster to tilt your box blade to the max and make a v-ditch instead of a shallow flat channel?
Hey Gary, yea that probably would have worked quite well, but then I would be driving on an angel. You can't really tell from the video, but at the end of that channel I cut it got really soft was tough to navigate even with 4wd. Figured flat ground would be helpful. Thanks for jumping in the conversation. Appreciate it!
How do like the open cab. Would you buy another one or would you switch to cab
Cut the trees on the water spot and make an ice skating ring.
If not , Drag the small hill of dirt from the large pond toward the water spot causing the water spot to flow toward the pond
@@IndyFarmLife .... I'm working toward a 4052R ! Yes , I know you thought about moving the dirt but may have thought it to be much work which is understandable
but that is the correct fix and the pond will never have a problem with low water nor will the land hold water, nice place. The water is land locked now.
I'm. waiting for the next video
@@IndyFarmLife .... I'm sure you'll get the job done right and the land will be the way you envisioned it . I'd love to log some seat time and even race the Deeres
but I live in Mi . Maybe if they ever make a tractor highway we'll meet up but until then I'll be watching your next video !
Is the other side of the pond lower? As in, if the thing fills up in a storm, will it flow out somewhere else, or flow out the soon-to-be swale to the berm?
Would the grade allow for a siphon?
It would have if I started one. That isn't as fun a making a muddy river with a tractor though. Haha
