well, most barrel racers that are seen have been abusive to their horses. you cannot blame the people if youre in a sport in horse riding that has been seen as overly abusive.

Listened to this with my mare Katie- after some therapy today the vet's released her for barrel racing! Last year during a bareback gallop (a week before my first barrel show) she tripped and landed on her neck, and I snapped my shoulder and had surgery. Both of us are ready to turn 'n burn again, though!

So glad your better some person trured around to my friend when a girl fell off her horse and said now that’s a real cowgirl and I held on to my horse took off flying through the area gaining speed to where I could bail and land softly on a fence so I didn’t hurt anything and I dusted off my self and said I was fine and got back on and my friend turned to this girl and said that’s a real cowgirl

Cowboy Steve Mostly because it is a women dominated sport,one of the only ones. Another one is most women don't like when men barrel race. We have so few sports that are women dominated but men do. Then they start coming into our sports and will have no women dominated sports.
Cowboy Steve it's not a sport that they are built for. it's all about the center of gravity. a woman's center of gravity is in the stomach/abdomen, where as a man's is in his chest. ever tried the chair test? take a chair, bend over so that your chest is flat against it with your back straight and try to stand up. woman can, and a guy is lucky if he can. back should be straight at all times
A boy at my school told me horses arent a sport and i said if its not a sport then why r we always practicing then i said come out to my barn and jump and barrel race like i do. He did and scared the crap out of himself when my horse took off towards the first barrel lol

The boys will never understand the risks we take everyday. A boy told me I was and horse riding isn’t a sport. I said my horse rolled on top of me and I said I lift hay,saddle, buckets of water to my horses
I don’t ride but my friend does I think it is a sport I wanna do it someday. I don’t have the funds to support an such big animal. I hate when guys say it’s not a sport. Try it for yourself and get thrown off, lift a saddle, hay bails, and water buckets. They won’t understand how hard it is until they do it for themselves.
