    Mark 6: 6-13 (ESV)
6 .... And he went about among the villages teaching.
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Apostles
7 And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. 8 He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff-no bread, no bag, no money in their belts- 9 but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics.[a] 10 And he said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there. 11 And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.” 12 So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them.

    Hello my Church....

I think this partnership was what was missing for my teenagers growing up in the church. Their partners were their friends- outside, at school and media. Bringing them to church and youth group a couple times of week wasn’t enough. I remember them exploring faith in their friends church and experiencing dissonance. Now - none of my children are christian- they are in their 30s. How can I be happy when we have failed to reach even our children? I am resolved to follow Jesus, but my joy is incomplete.

My children left Christianity over science / creation debate and sexual ethics ( the mean way their gay friends were treated , their own personal decisions to be sexually active) and the reaction of Christian friends that told them they were going to hell and shunning them. On our part as parents we could have protected them better, - homeschool, banish media in the home, more prayer and Christian education in our home, more ministry as a family. My husband and I were very busy making a living at this time. I knew we were failing . I kept praying that what we were doing was enough, and trusted God to do the necessary watering. I am so sad. It is hard to feel joy in my own salvation, when my children and the worlds children are lost. The doctrine of hell, and judgement really bothers me and feels so mean. My heart goes out to the people born in poverty, or to other religions, that have even less chance to understand the gospel than afforded my own children! Jesus please have mercy on all of them!
