I just noticed how the composer implemented a bit of the theme or sample of A different beast, just when Odysseus threatens Poseidon to call off the storm and the when Odysseus takes Poseidons trident to use it against him Im not sure but I think I heard a bit of the theme or sample used in Monster which are good call backs to the events of the journey that led to the events of the vengeance saga
Yess, it's from either Monster or Different Beast. Either way, it's the sound of Ody being a monster. Jorge is really really good as doing all kinds of callbacks and musical cues, like how in Other Ways, when Ody is remembering Penelope while he talks to Circe, Penelope's instrument and tune plays. Or with the Sirens, you can hear Polites' mallots, because the sirens are a just pulling all the memories they can to pull on Ody's heartstrings. There is sooo much of this, it's awesome
It opens with the hefty bass riff from different beat, then ody screams to the general beat and tone of Monster. Poseidon even says "you... MONSTER-ER-ER" in time with it. It also starts with mostly guitar, then Poseidon's trumpet lazily accompanies it, playing a specific set of notes when he refers to the drowning of his crew "calling their captain in vain" and "you told me to close my heart."
so over all great animatic, here's a few of my favourite things: - love the way you used white in this - while from a logical standpoint you probably shouldn't melee a god, it feels absolutely in character for this doofus and i haven't seen someone do that so far, very fun idea! - the way you can see ody in poseidon's eye and the wicked smirk that he sees after he blinks - it might be just me, but during the "next to my wife" moment, ody almost looks... relieved. like he has a smile, but it feels like the tight kind of smile that you have when you''re about to start crying. so far i've seen him portrayed as cold and ruthless or smug during that moment, so it's interesting to see a different kind of interpretation - poseidon's fishy design, im a sucker for that
That's interesting, cuz I only saw him angry and tired when he says "Next to my wife" I think this depiction just hits harder, because OMFG HE IS FINALLY GONNA SEE HIS WIFE AND MY BOY ODY IS HAPPY AFTER ALL THIS TIME *insert his "Penelope ~" line*
This Poseidon design is STUNNING! I love the way I can’t tell whether it’s waves breaking on a shore or just the sides of his hair at the end there… and the sharp teeth while he’s being tortured… this is a fantastically creative animatic!

ohhh this is so cool. i like the comic panel progression, it gives a sense of space and time passing. the stark monochrome is really cool and grim too. i ADORE poseidon's faltering smile at the 2:11 "wait..." and poseidons design in general!! oh and during the first fight when his trident is reflected in ody's eyes, showign his goal and focus

Based on your description I went back to see if I had seen one of your animatics before and I had! And while I still enjoy your Different Beast animatic I see the improvement here for sure! I'm no animator, but the drawings feel much cleaner and the very serious tone for the song was kept extremely well here. Not to mention this one rather than an animatic almost feels like an animated comic at times with many of your editing choices and such, which looks so great! I think it is a grand improvement and an incredible animatic for an incredible song!

I love this i only got a few seconds in before deciding i love it because 600 strike is my current favourite Epic song and also this animation style is so good especially the way it looks like a comic I've never seen an animatic that looks like one and the teardrop turning to a blood splatter/stain was such a cool idea

Ody striking him 600 times for each man Poseidon killed is everything though lol, Ody punched the shit out of him. 1:59 I love how Poseidon is projecting confidence when he says "Or what? You can't kill me." but the way that he's sweating shows that he damn well knows that there are way worse things that Ody can do to him than DEATH. And you can even see Ody seeing that and coming up with the best way to force him to get rid of that song in the most cathartic way possible. Once Ody picks up the Trident and Poseidon sees the point, you see the "confident" smirk twist into actual fear since he can't keep up the act anymore aaaaAAA- Ody's tear turning into a drop of Poseidon's blood and seeing the crewmate in "calling their captain in vain" is everything too, man. ;w; (lol Ody's smile when thinking about how he's finally going to see Penelope after around 10 years of being apart and suffering is everything, man's like "I'm finally going to sleep next to my wife after all of this suffering.") Also also, I love the comic moving panel style, it looks great!

There's something about Odysseus smiling after torturing Poseidon that just gives chills. This is really nice!!
