Great song..great group. But, you are really missing out if you don’t check out their songs “Could It Be I’m Falling In Love”; “I’ll Be Around”; “Games People Play”; & “One of A Kind Love Affair”. Those are a must.
Frankie Valli created this song and it was a big hit. The Spinners covered it as a disco song to be danced to in the disco clubs. Check out the Frankie Valli version! Nobody can sing falsetto like Frankie….and he’s still performing and packing concert seats at 89 yrs old!!! He still sings this song in concert!!
Frankie came to my town about a month and a half ago… there was a microphone snafu during his performance and needless to say, he wasn’t actually singing!… I’m not complaining though…it was frickin Frankie Valli!!!
You guys really should hit earlier The Four Seasons. Frankie was in his prime. No falsetto like Frankie's. Songs like this one or "Walk Like a Man" "Rag Doll" "Sherry" Hit after hit song.
Yes!! I've recommended this several times. They've reacted to Frankie a couple of times, but neither of those songs featured his falsetto. It's just like how Jay and Amber are huge fans of the Bee Gees, but they've only featured their disco hits and not their great stuff from the '60s (which I know many have requested).
I think they already know "Beggin'" in the cover version, but it would be interesting for them to hear the original by Franky Valli & the Four Seasons. So I'd like to add that song too. 🙂
Frankie's greatest falsetto is in the 4 seasons version of "Sincerely". Check it out guys, you won't be disappointed. Rob squad have completely missed the target when it comes to the 4 seasons. I love this channel and have really enjoyed watching Jay and Amber grow musically, but without Frankie's high falsetto, they are missing a massive chunk in their education.
J & Amber, you'll love their "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love", "One of a Kind (Love Affair)" and "Then Came You" (with Dionne Warwick)!!!!! edit- the Frankie Valli and The 4 Season original is very good too.
On a similar note, on their debut album in the USA, Wham! was called "Wham! UK" because there was a 1970s group called Wham. I think the earlier group sued, but I don't remember what happened with that. The "UK" was dropped by the time "Make It Big" was released.
I love both The Spinners disco version of this song from 1978 when I was 18 and the original version by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons that came out in 1965 when I was 5. A couple more songs from The Spinners are "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love" and "Then Came You". A few more Frankie Valli songs are "I've Got You Under My Skin", "Rag Doll", "Dawn", "Candy Girl", and "Sherry".
The Spinners are a great group and had many hits. You've reacted to several already: *One of a Kind Love Affair *Could it be I'm Falling in Love You have not done these yet. You have barely delved into Motown's top two groups. The Temptations: *Just My Imagination *My Girl *I'm Gonna Make You Love Me *I Can't Get Next to You *Cloud Nine *Bal! Of Confusion *All I Need *The Way You Do the Things You Do *You're My Everything The 4 Tops: *Bernadette *Reach Out. I'll Be There *I Can't Help Myself *Baby I Need Your Lovin' *Walk Away Renee *Its The Same Old Song *Ain't No Woman Like the One I Got There are more for both groups. There is also video of a battle of songs between both groups that's fun to watch. ( it might be at The Apollo Theatre) Also, don't forget about The Supremes, the #1 female group Out of Motown: *Ain't No Mountain High Enough *The Happening *My World is Empty Without You *I Hear A Symphony *Stop, In the Name of Love *You Keep Me Hanging On *Never Can Say Goidbye There is video of the Supremes and Temptations together in stage singing each other's songs. I believe that was on Ed Sullivan.
This was a great disco version, but you should definitely check out the original version that was done by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons too. They both became big hits 14 years apart.
Yes and there is another song involved in this "Forgive Me Girl" thrown into the to this, so it is not the true stand alone song, even though I loved this and still do. NOTE: The Spinners, a Detroit group known for their Philadelphia Soul sound, is among the 2023 Rock & Hall of Fame inductees.
"I'll be around" is their masterpiece. A breakup song, and he's pledging to bow out gracefully....But he'd go back in a heartbeat. The human condition.
You guys should also hear "Use To Be My Girl" by The O'Jays! Great song! I've always loved this song too. I love The Spinners, everything they've done. Both of these were my parents' groups, but I learned from them. I remember listening to their music from 4 years old. I'll soon be 50. Still love both of these groups.
Not many groups can cover The 4 Seasons, but the Spinners do a great job. Try the Seasons version. Lots of horns, Amber. Or try Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons' "Beggin'", a song that is driven by 'hand claps'. Another tune my boys originated. That tune has also been covered many times. Anyway, great tune. Love The Spinners. Thanks!
This is a great soul number by the Spinners that was also done by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Another good one by them is 'Could it be I'm falling in Love'-Colin Ward
Got to listen to "It's A Shame" & my all time favorite "Mighty Love" which is a song that meant so much to me in 1976 when I had a mighty love and we broke off a 2 year relationship. Spinners are my all time favorite group. Please play more ❤
Other Spinners songs to check out would be "It's A Shame", "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love", "One Of A Kind (Love Affair)". Please do "Then Came You" with Dionne Warwick next. Speaking of Dionne Warwick. You have not reacted to "Walk On By" by her. What a classic that you should hear at some point if you have never heard the song before. Great Female Friday suggestion.
You should check out their song It's A Shame (Jay will like the falsetto in that). Also for Latin American Heritage Month, you could check out Los Lobos - shakin’ shakin’ shakes, (set me free) rosa lee, will the wolf survive. Also, the band War who were a mixed band and played a mix of styles of music. Some of their other songs to check out would be spill the win (with the Eric Burdon), slipping into darkness, why can’t we be friends, all day music, the world is a ghetto, cisco kid, summer, good, good feeling.
This song always takes me back to a lake we used to visit with my summer camp in the early 80s. The jukebox had two songs that were repeated over and over… this and Abracadabra by the Steve Miller Band.
This was one of the soundtrack bits of my childhood in the early 70s. I loved the Spinners sooooo much. You couldn't help but groove and dance to these guys. Always so upbeat and fun and energetic.
Love love love me some Spinners! More to check out: I'll Be Around, Could It Be I'm Falling in Love?, One of a Kind (Love Affair), Mighty Love and the incredible duet with Dionne Warwick, Then Came You.
My favorite Spinners song, and one of my all time favorite songs. I was 13 when it came out and have never tired of it. It never fails to put a smile on my face and make me sing!!
You should check out the Spinners’ ‘Could it be I’m falling in Love’. It’s a pretty song with a moderate but not hugely up beat tempo. There is a Soul Train version which is a lot of fun and huge blast from te past.
The Spinners started at Motown, but their real success in the 1970s was after they'd left Motown and started recording with Philadelphia sound producer Thom Bell at Atlantic Records.
Saw them in concert this summer, free concert in my hometown!! Probably non of the originals, as one retires I bet a new guy takes over. They sounded great , just like the records!!’ After the concert we got to meet them , one of the guys had a great personality and made us all laugh!! They were very nice!!!
Love me some Spinners. 💃🕺My favorite by them. Sinatra - That's Life. Steely Dan - Peg, Hey Nineteen, I Got the News, FM ( No Static At All ). Fire in the Hole, Aja, Babylon Sisters, Kid Charlemagne, Home At Last
Thumbs up for one of my recommended songs finally being played! This Spinners remake came out in early 1980, totally unexpected because lead singer Philippe Wynne had left the group. The original Four Seasons version I didn't know until later. I really love both of them. Thanks again. I also suggest listening to the original.
This one just never gets old! Spinners were just so dang prolific. My next recommendation would be "Then Came You", featuring Dionne Warwick, one of my favorite of theirs.
This was a golden opportunity for you to do a reaction to the Four Season, who recorded the original version of "Working My Way Back to You." The Four Seasons charted more singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the 1960s than any other artist or group, and as far as I know, you have yet to do a video of them. Check out "Sherry," "Candy Girl," "Big Girls Don't Cry," or yes, "Working My Way Back to You." Or any one of dozens of other hits they had.
Spinners- One of a Kind (Love Affair) is a can’t miss groovy song you’ll love Jay. Oh, and it has all the flavor you would love Amber. So play then enjoy it.
I'm happy that The Spinners finally got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. Also, I love that Linda Ronstadt sketch you have in the background.
Hey check out ( Not Just) Knee Deep from Parliament Funkadelic which features Philliepe Wynne whom left the spinners before they recorded Working My Way Back To You.
I absolutely love this version. It's one of my karaoke songs. When people are drunk you can very easily get them to follow you around the room in a chain like a train while singing this song lol.
wow, I can't remember the last time I heard this song, it feels like a million years, but I was shocked at how I remembered every note, it really digs into your brain and stays there. its maybe a perfect song.
Rob Squad, y'all should check out 1970s gospel groups The Rance Allen Group & Mighty Clouds Of Joy. Both had more of a funky R&B sound, which they were criticized for at the time by some churches. Andraé Crouch is another gospel artist from the same time period, his choir sang on a lot of secular artists records too like "Man In The Mirror" by Michael Jackson & "Like A Prayer" by Madonna. Al Green released gospel albums in the 1980s. For female Friday, try The Clark Sisters, Tramaine Hawkins, or Yolanda Adams.
Known over here in the UK as the Detroit Spinners so as not to be confused with a band already called the Spinners 😅 This was a surprise hit that reached number one in 1979. Much love from England 🏴
Great song..great group. But, you are really missing out if you don’t check out their songs “Could It Be I’m Falling In Love”; “I’ll Be Around”; “Games People Play”; & “One of A Kind Love Affair”. Those are a must.
And don't forget the amazing "duet" they did with Dionne Warwick, "Then Came You"
Yes!!!
And "Love Don't Love Nobody" and "It's a Shame."
As Long As We Have Love, Love Me or Leave Me, Loving Just A Little Laughing Just A Little, and How Could I Let You Get Away!

I'm confused here
Hear hear.
Spinners did this song better than Frankie Valli in MHO.
@@jmwsr474Spinners version went #1 in the UK, and #2 in U.S.
The 4 Seasons went to #9 in the U.S., and #50 in UK.

I love Rag Doll. Especially the intro
They should definitely react to Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons! All of their songs were great!

YES! Do them ALL! 😊
Agreed!!!
me too!
I’m with you on those suggestions ✌️
Don't forget "Games People Play" !!!!😊
This is a cover of the 1966 version by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons! MUST hear!
I love this version. I also love the Frankie Vali and the Four Seasons original version.
I wish there was a country version.
@@benntura Me too.
You need to see them dance while they’re singing ❤
Amazing song! It's actually a medley of "Working My Way Back To You" and "Forgive Me, Girl."
I remember this, they were called the Detroit Spinners in the UK because there was a British band called the Spinners. Great song!
On a similar note, on their debut album in the USA, Wham! was called "Wham! UK" because there was a 1970s group called Wham. I think the earlier group sued, but I don't remember what happened with that. The "UK" was dropped by the time "Make It Big" was released.
Glad you made this comment, I'm in the UK and thought I may have dreamt the detroit bit 😂
I was thinking about that
The Spinners - Working My Way Back To You
Their second to last hit (Cupid), reaching #2 in 1980 (Released in 1979)
This song is all about winning!
If we still had songs like this today, the world would be a happier place. Great song from my youth ❤
Other Spinners songs to check out are: One Of A Kind (Love Affair), It's A Shame, and Then Came You (feat Dionne Warwick).

One of a Kind (Love Affair) is one of my all-time favorites!
You should do a back to back with the Four Seasons original version. The falsetto is cranked up to 11. Jordan will be shook. 😉

I had no idea this was a remake! And I’m a Four Seasons fan lol. The more one learns lol 😂😂😂

The Spinners are soooo good! Love this song! And, yes Jay, that deep voice is so perfect. Upbeat and fun music. Thoroughly enjoyable.
I have enjoyed music from the Spinners since the 1970's. Thanks for bringing this one back. It brings back many good and precious memories.
