Everyone should have a friend like Rhonda.
That was SO satisfying watching that. She really gave it to those narcissistic bitches.
3:10 - Muriel peeking out from behind the hair, that beaming smile - its the moment Toni Collette arrived.....
I love how Muriel slowly gets more and more into it, it’s just joyous.
i noticed the same. she makes this scene memorable!
great actress!
Under Rhonda's influence, it's not overnight but she slowly gains confidence. Or perhaps she discovers a self-confidence which was already there, but she just didn't realise it.
"And by the way, I'm not alone. I'm with Muriel". You go, Rhonda! Rub it in their smug self satisfied faces!
Still the best scene in Australian cinematic history
You are right, but now we also have got "Upr!ght"! A typical Australien film! Australien films are always a sign for quality! Greetings from Germany! Hope to see you on the next ESC!!!
@@sexysadie2901 yes, but I think what they are trying to say that they lived like Muriel did in the 80s.
Toni does a really good Agnetha. So glad Bjorn allowed them to use music from Abba in the movie
25 years and it STILL cracks me up -- when Nicole gives Tanya that catastrophic 'Yeah? So?" look and Tanya flips over the table like one of the Real Housewives of Jersey, and they rassle on the ground to the soundtrack of Waterloo, it's just sublime.
It tickles me hard when the girls kept dancing. I feel like they in triumph. ☺😊😄😁🙋✌
@@shirleykitchens5878 I love the smiles and looks on Muriel and Rhonda's faces as they continue their ABBA routine while the girls roll around on the floor!
I love that the dudes they are with are enjoying the show even standing and clapping with the song while those bitches are too busy in bitter Stepford Hell.
The casting of this entire movie was spot on. I recognised every single character….
The best scene ever! The bullies turn on each other, while the bullied rejoice. So satisfying.
I love the way Muriel is dancing reluctantly, feels inhibited and then goes for it
saw an interview with Tanya - she was bullied as a kid so she knew just how to do it.
Like how Thomas F. Wilson who played Biff Tannen in Back to the Future was bullied.
The important theme of the film I feel is, the growth Muriel's confidence, personality and maturity. No wonder she retreats into a make believe world of such, what else does she have other than down trodden siblings, terrible parents, and ill fitting friends, who not too deep down, knows they have nearly zero respect for her, but she needs someone. Then this classmate out of knowhere, appears to her, but also properly treats her as a human being. Hence a catalyst for her to heal and grow. For me, a high level comedy, with none of this sacarine humour and emotion.
I was rewatching Six Feet Under, and in one scene, Brenda said she would rather swallow razor blades than cancel her wedding to Nate, with a very slight hint of an accent. What a cute tribute to Muriels Wedding.
I'm rewatching 'Six feet under' - Iove Rachel Griffiths to bits! And Toni too, natch!
This was my intro to Rachel & then watched her in Six feet under in the 2000s. Love her!
Never throw the Muriel of your group out of the clan as this is the kind of shit that hits the fan. The Muriel of your group knows everything. Keep them close.
I'm American , and this one favorite movie ever. A cult classic. The dream of every girl who was ever picked on ever!!
I never tire of watching this clip. The whole movie was terrific. But I love the way the guys clear a path for the girls and continue watching the show as the girls continue to beat the crap out of each other. It doesn’t get any better then this
I just noticed that. They also ripped away people that were trying to break apart the fight 🤣
Finally my daughter is old enough to watch it, we watched it yesterday. She loved it and this is her Fav scene
Honestly one of the best scenes ever. I LOVE the facial expression on Nicole when Tanya throws the table and goes in for the attack 😂 fabulous acting. the entire cast!
When you see the look on Tanya's face at 2:02, you know Nicole's going to cop it.
This scene is iconic. I don’t know what I love more, Rhonda’s exchange with Tanya, the Abba performance or the fight 😂
I was 13 when this came out and it actually changed my life. It helped me to stand up for myself and realise that true friendships are so much more valuable than people like this 😂
I love the exact moment when Muriel REALLY gets into the performance at 2:33. They nail it!
Nicole’s reaction all the way through to Rhonda telling Tanya about her having an affair to Cook is brilliant acting. The shock that she’s been found out and can’t get out of it. Also the fact that Muriel wouldn’t lie about something like that confirms it’s true. Karma comes around especially for all those four girls. Also I love the Rhonda’s comeback which I love to use on people that have treated me badly. Such a fantastic film
That's why you don't mistreat the Muriels of this world. Because one day they'll want vengeance or a chance to get even. Or, if they lack confidence, they find someone to do it for them.
One of the best movies ever. I became a huge fan of Toni Collette & Rachel Griffiths because of this film.
i remember being the Muriel of the group, you always remember the Rhondas who stuck up for you though
Rhonda was a great friend ...she even fought Muriels battles until she gained confidence.Plus she ridiculed Tanya Degano. I am with Muriel!!
I grew up in Australia in the 80’s. I think every high school year had a “chook”. Ours was also named Peter
all hail Rhonda! The best friend we all needed and the chops to stick it to every mean girl who ever got in our faces! YEAH!
Still love it after all these years. Brilliant , Rhonda , " What a Bunch of assholes they were at school." Then when she see's them. " I rather drinks razor Blades than drink with you."
finally facing my waterloo and they point and it cuts to girls fighting, what a cool touch lol
They're like we are dancing to ABBA and we have just embarrassed our high school bullies and there is nothing they can do about . So satisfying
Onee of the greatest debuts in a movie Rachel and toni were fire in this movie
this scene always brings a happy tear to my eye, go Rhonda, that speech was epic.
It was turkey to chook for me 😂😂😂😂 Rhonda is ruthless love her ❤❤
This scene masterfully depicted the bullies getting their just desserts. That segue from the mic drop takedown into the talent show, starring Rhonda and Muriel, was perfectly done with the musical score transition. It also exemplified, as the performance progressed, of Muriel's confidence growing, first reserved in the act and when her rivals start to implode, she really energizes, delivering a star performance and winning the competition.
The catfight at the end is gold. All of those actresses must have had a blast filming this scene.
Those moments when life falls perfectly into place.
That song, the dance. Talk about rubbing it in her face. The nerve of the bridesmaid to go on the honeymoon after what she did to the bride as well. This is such a brilliant scene.
Just watched the video when they kicked off Muriel from the group. It seems that Nicole is the biggest villain. At least Tanya looked a bit sorry about her. Nicole was the one who really went out for Muriel. She deserved that black eye.
This was my introduction to Toni Collette. Brilliant actress.
I can’t help but smile from ear to ear when watching this
My roommate and i met Toni Collette and her cast Brother Perry in Manhattan at a 25th aniversary screening. Plus there was a discussion period afterwards . Then Ms. Colette was wondeful in receiving her adoring fans. It waz THE highlight of Spring of 2019.
They were the original mean girls! Love it and they are good actors!
Well, that's one way of disbanding a witches' coven:)
@prolefeed9371
Tania never made up with Nicole during the film's runtime, she only made up with Rose, the other girl who Chook cheated with.
best scene.. ever! TURKEY, NO CHOOK... hahaha
Poor Chook, my foot. He chose to have an affair with Nicole. Too bad he didn't cop a shiner too.
I love this movie. And to me this is the best scene. Rather than breaking up the fight, he moves the table out of the way instead. Love it
Rhonda is the bomb. This movie is bittersweet. That said, it's worth watching again and again. Fun stuff.
Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths are excellent.
- I love to seem do a Muriel at 50 with the same cast; Rachel would have had a medical procedure so Rachel can walk,no t ride ina chair.
I'd like that.
Fabulous film. Regards from an 88 year old Englishman with daughter and grandchildren in Melbourne. August, 2024.
One of my favourite scenes, especially the girls brawling.
The moment Nicole's smile faded, I thought: "I wouldn't want to be you right now, because it's Bunch of Fives time!"
She burned her to the ground without even touching tanya! Sweet revenge for all the kids bullied .epic !
Best edit ever into a song. Perfect moviemaking.
Love this film!!
I’ve seen it, from start to finish, MANY times.
Golden era of Aussie films.
OMG ! I just walked into a bar & saw the one person I can't stand from collage ! I looked 20 years better & he could not even look me in the face ! FFF loved it !!!
Thank you for uploading this all time classic scene WITH the relevant parts preceding the song. The performance is so shatteringly fabulous (and the dance routine SO Gloriously Insane) but it robs it of something additional if you don't appreciate the wicked smug glee they are filled with at the chaos they have caused, as they do their number💖😍🤣💗 LEGENDARY🙏🙌💘
In this moment Rachel was exellent, an amazing actress, and toni too😍
This is still one of my favourite movies. These agents of karma doing a drag show while their tormentors turn on each other, absolute perfection.
That table flip was HILARIOUS!!!!! That's it That's the post.😂😂😂😂😂
The look on their faces is Priceless..
To have a young daughter with no siblings and a sweet heart, this movie makes me weep every time.
I would love to say,I'm with Ronda. What a great friend to have.
One of my top favorite guilty pleasure movies! 😄
I loved that scene with rhonda and muriel . at first when you see the look on muriels face my heart dropped and then when rhonda flips the script i was just beaming from ear to ear . love this movie !
One of the best scenes...and movies...ever!
Rachel Griffith, one of my favorite actresses! Stellar!
Did Tanya and her friends really want to have a drink with Rhonda or were they just making fun of her? Their faces seem to say they were being nasty.
I think they did, genuinely want to have a drink with her, as Rhonda looks so different (i.e., prettier) now than she did in high school. They are kinda sizing her up, but they definitely are impressed with her appearance and want to drink with her.
It was more to be nasty to Muriel like they say you don't have to spend the entire holiday alone. It was a dig at Muriel in a way to say she wasn't worth getting to know.
I think they re really hypocritical!!i can t see any will of being genuinely kind,in their behavior
@@retrocat1 I think they wanted her in so they could effectively dump her in the future when she couldn't live up to their standards. It gave them a kick people looking up to them and wanting to be in their gang and then rejecting them. In the end, they said they were friends with Rose Biggs remember who had been having an affair with Tanya's husband so yea they really were fickle and had bugger all loyalty to each other. Even Nicole had been kicked out of the group by the end but she'd probably have got back in again after some time. And they rallied around Muriel when she was getting the celebrity wedding even though before that they'd dumped her too and they'd taken to liking Rhonda even though she openly told them to f*** off in this scene.
Will there ever be another chick flick that comes close to this movie?
awh you can't reduce it to just a "chick flick"..It's awesome on so many levels🙌🙏💖
Wow, 25 yrs ago already, happy silver 🥈 anniversary M W.
what a great scene love Rhonda
Rhonda is the very best friend you could ever hope for. She's Samantha Jones in Sex and the City, your ride or die, the one who will sit in jail behind bars with you and say "wasn't that fun?"
Love this film and love when they do their Abba number!
Love Rachel too (Six Feet Under)
❤😂 after 25 years this scene still makes me LOL
I just love Toni Collette in movies.
Love the way the camera follows them. Really adds that bit extra to a fantastic scene.😊
Who would’ve thought Rachel Griffiths and Toni Collette would have their careers skyrocket after this flick
such a funny fucking scene
One of my favorite movies! You're terrible Muriel!😂
Love Rhonda. Tanya Love the way she called him Turkey instead of Chook
Queen Bee.
Burn Nicole's having an affair with Chook and I'd rather swallow razor blades than drink with you. Oh and by the way. Im not alone I'm with Muriel. lol.
Then switching to them dancing as ABBA. And Nicole with the Black eye! Genius!
Best scene ever
I loved this film so much!
Love this movie..❤
Rhonda is a *legend*
Man Toni Collette Is such a good actor. Makes you legit feel she's uncomfortable dancing and Is copying Rhonda the way she keeps slightly looking her way throughout.
Toni Colette put on weight for this role, to match the character. And she did a fantastic job in this movie. Another favourite one of mine is ‘In her Shoes’. I lover her!
Yes, she's quite stiff and unsure of herself at first, but I thought that a little further on, after they come forward at one point and the crowd cheers them on, she seems to gain confidence and relax and is more coordinated and free in her movements for the rest of the dance. I agree, brilliant acting.
ETA: As retrocat says, below!
Chook couldn't come... (smirk). An now we know why! :-D
Iconic on all levels
I love Rhonda's necklace at 0:16
Don't know if this happened in other countries, but in Spain, this movie became huge between gay community.
Laughing so hard at the fight scene! i was crying !! loved the dance number..... oh it was all FAB!!
Love Rhonda and wish I had a friend like her!!
Best movie ever!!!
This film is Great.
I had a partner in high school, her name was Tanya. I guess I was not at your social level. She was so beautiful, funny, nice and so bad bad bad, like the one in the movie. I think over the years she has changed, fortunately her way of being, and she became a good person with everyone.
I'm very skeptical about "nice" people. They are too friendly and happy to your face...but I think they are hiding things.
@@JaneDoe-ik9oh There is a difference, and you said it best. There's regular 'nice' people, then there are 'too friendly' ones. The too friendly folks are the ones to be skeptical of.
@@JaneDoe-ik9oh wow sounds like you're just hoping happy people aren't really happy 😕
Chook couldn't come
Nicole's facials... priceless
One off the best movies ever!
O casamento de Muriel.
Assisti há décadas e não me esqueci desse filme.
This is the dream sequence for every kid that was ever picked on and rejected growing up.
I am Muriel 😢
@@splinterbyrd I think we all are, but I never had a friend like Rhonda unfortunately. ☹
@@splinterbyrd I'll be your Rhonda!
@@franknberry333Please do!💘
@@richalderson6069It's a very good example of wishing I'd known then what I know now. When I think of the number of 'orrible little tossers at my school I now wish I'd told to get stuffed in exactly the way Rhonda does...🤣
