@Svatekl2 This was 3 years ago but i still have the same question. Why read the comments before watching the video? It isn't a spoiler really. What were you expecting? You thought they would just crush the car with all the decent parts left in it? He was just shown expressing sadness over a 1,3 liter turd for a few hundred bucks. Of course they wouldn't leave any usable bits. Jesus fuck.
It's so triply watching videos now where you guys are stripped down for summer weather, and watching these old videos in our summer when you were all bundled up for winter. It's very trippy.
Okay Marty had a point, that little junker was kinda quick. Plus it raced three races and still performed all three times. With a suspension and the right tires, maybe an intake and exhaust, that could be a competitive little smurf. I like that they do crap cars. That's what most people have, look at the civics. Everybody does high end cars like lambos, ferraris, probably spelled that wrong, maybe ferrari will send me a check to get it right. Who wants to see the same thing all the time. I happen to like the 206. It was a fun car on gran turismo. I also like the nissan pulsar, the Mitsubishi mirage cyborg, and some other little crap cars. I enjoy these vids so much, in fact I think I've commented on every one I've watched. Just realized I forgot to rate and follow them too. Now I have to go back through all of them and rate. Damn again. Get a nissan sunny and put it against like a chaser or Peugeot of some sort. That'd be cool. Lol
I think they're nice. It'd be easy to make one a sleeper. It looks like a camry. Lol. Just nissans sweet version of a fun family car. Love nissan. They're so great. The lighter side of the car world, and much better side of the muscle car world. A car from factory that breaks your neck in turns.
Ryan Brown as a matter of fact, my nissan is a sleeper! got a swapped 550 HP engine, goes like the wind :) and i totally agree with nissan being an awesome family car!
What engine? what all mods do you have? I like the sunny, but I don't know too much about it, other than its somewhat similar to the cefiro and I think related to the prince.
Ryan Brown , i got no idea of the engine bro, my dad got it installed, i am only 12 but i have a very sharp mind and a gift of cars, ya know like a petrol head, i am learning more about cars, thats why i come here, i will find out and tell ya :D
This is the best example of what happened in British Touring car racing and euro rally racing. Big block camaros vs mini coopers. The V8's weren't a for sure win especially on tight tracks, but the moment you get a hint of a straight, the v8 is gone.
If youre tripped out about Australian Winter in august, imagine how we feel when everyone's singing about Frost and snow at Christmas and it's the middle of summer. Aussie Christmas is warm, usually with a barbeque.
The Commodore looks like the Chevrolet Corsica sold in the US but it never came with a V-8. It's crazy that a 5.0 is barely better than a 1.3. Amazing Turd!!
Robert Cowan Literally there is someone that drives a corsica in the exact condition of that car that lives near me I know, and acts exactly as Moog acted in that video.
I feel sorry for marty. He loved his little turd, he spent hours making it so mad and it got a special spot in his heart. Cmon moog, you just shattered his heart :(
+Aristotelis Mitsiou (tkk7406) lol my VW cc 185 hp makes KW 130 (DIESEL) after chipping a wopping 235 hp id smash that ford with 4 cylinders and diesel .....
Kcufdurt Tnuc vw cc is a low coup/sallon , wiht better suspesion dual cluth gearbox and an engine to match not to forget the weight of the car is less then that truck or malon so to say it bluntly i would chop that ford
I cry every time I rewatch this. :"( I feel like Marty really loved this little Daihatsu, maybe more than gramps ánd supergramps, maybe more than he'll ever love the 4WD Mira build... It just breaks my heart, Marty is so passionate and enthusiastic he says things in the heat of the moment, first time it cost him his gearbox and hurt his Subaru pride (although I also felt bad for Moog losing the S15, that was a much nicer car than the 180sx ever was and ever will be), here it cost him the Blue Turd... I once had a car crushed, I didn't even like it all that much, but it hurt and I decided nothing will ever make me crush a car again.
If it's anything like other GM V8s of the time (at least here in the US) it makes around double (sometimes a bit less) the torque compared to HP. Likely in the 350-400 ft-lbs range. In most cases on a track, torque trumps HP/kW in importance. That said, I can't imagine it handles terribly well.
This particular, unique to Australia, V8 made 410 N·m (300 lb·ft) of torque back in 1988. And, yeah, torque is what accelerates a car. It's a family car and handles like one too :)
its shameful a 1989 Subaru liberty n/a 100kw and 190n-m on a 2.2L 4 cylinder so the commodore have 4 more cylinders over double the displacement and yet puts out only around 30 more kws
+jaxon cook age generally has nothing to do with hp the chevelle COPO of the 60 has upwards of 500 hp conservatively where u see hp dimish is when emissions became an issue in the late 60 early 70s and strangled v8s to very low specific output
Damn Moog...two things: a helmet that fits and shorts that fit. You looked like a trucker in 8th grade gym shorts sitting on the hood of that Commodore. And for a country were everyone cooks and eats outdoors that sure is a lot of pale man-thigh.
1: Why the flying fahrk is everyone looking at his thighs? 2: Cooking and eating outdoors might be something Aussies are known for but we work the second most hours per week on average in the civilised world... and the first is North Korea. 3: Who gives a fahrk?
You do realise 165kw is the engine sitting there, it's not pushing 1300kg through a gearbox tailshaft and diff. Moderator was pretty much spot on anyway, my mate put his VS 5l on the dyno not even a month ago and punched out 196hp which is 146rwkw. Think before you type.
Leslie Kelly are you guys fucking stupid? he said the ENGINE had 138kw... not that the car had 146rwkw. and I know what drivetrain loss is idiot. and hes wrong it isn't a fucking german car its fully Australian. if he was talking about the v6 model the engine was a buick based engine and was 137kw but the car is still Australian and the v6 is not what hes looking at right there.
R.I.P Blue turd!!, i'll never forget the day you proved a 1.3L is still better then a 5L commodore nugget, thank you for brightening my day and proving almost any 4 cyl is better the a 5L commodore. lots of love Mr hondata.....
+17 38 He obviously let Marty get ahead to show that he could keep up in the corners and threaten to pass on the straights. Considering Moog was driving what amounted to a Chevy Lumina with a malaise era V8, that is actually pretty sad. I didn't even know the Lumina came in a V8, my Grandmother had the exact same year in a 4 cylinder.
I really hope you guys didn't make him crush the Blue Turd. That car is cool for what it is. I totally understand the emotional attachment to a vehicle.
With the correct suspension mods, the Holden would have kicked butt. I own a Crown Victoria that I modified the suspension and added wider wheels/tires. I do autocross and have beat (and badly) smaller, more agile cars because of the way the suspension reacts.
@the german car he mentioned the commodre was originally based off.. The Holden Commodore is an automobile manufactured since 1978 by the Holden subsidiary of General Motors (GM) in Australia, and, formerly, in New Zealand. In the mid-1970s, Holden established proposals to replace the long-serving Kingswood nameplate with a smaller, Opel-based model. Opel continued to provide the basis for future generations until the launch of the fourth generation in 2006, which deployed an Australian developed platform.
kenyj18 Accept for the Mondeo. You can get a 2005 Mondeo 150kkm for $3350 (USD for comparison) in NZ because that's how long the engines last. There's such a large number of them for sale I decided to give them a shot. I test drove one and it had the worst fog problem I'd ever seen, had to wind down the windows to see anything, the air conditioning didn't work at all and it's not an old car! The engine oil had coolant in it and was way over full. Such a shame when the car was still young. Opened the oil cap after the test drive and steam came out, smelled like compression getting into the rockers. Definitely a lemon.
Coulda been just that certain vehicle tho. Don't always believe the "good condition" story pre owners tell u. There's always that one who lies just to make a sale
kenyj18 Could have been just that vehicle but the mechanics we spoke to said steer clear of the Mondeos. There must be a reason that in general a Ford Mondeo cost as much as a Toyota that is 5 or more years older. As much as I didn't want to be mainstream I ended up following the advise of every mechanic and got a Toyota Corolla. I explored all options but everytime we view the cars and test drove them, they were dodgy and needed expensive repairs very soon OR had recently had very expensive repairs done, BUT they wanted far to much for what the cars worth.
Marty, Moog - I would LOVE to see you guys grab hold of a Toyota SC400 Soarer V8, Chuck a pair of turbos on it (2 disco potatoes would be insane) and convert it to a 5 speed gearbox and a big growly twin 4" exhaust system. That would be a VERY interesting episode, or mini-series and you'd be talking ferrari-like performance out of a $4000 car. And...... It would sound amazing.
Japanese Domestic Market, referring to where the thing gets sold It can also refer to equipment (engines, options, etc.) that were part of that market (such as how Skylines were never sold in America)
I think they should really look into a mitsubishi GSR Lancer, turbo, all wheel drive, Australian/japanese goodness. And the amount of mods you can do to them is nuts!
Depends, technically turbo is better but unless its setup perfectly there can be lag, superchargers don't build boost as you keep going but there is essentially no lag between when you hit the pedal and when you build boost. So: Turbo can build more power, but there is a lag period before you build boost. Superchargers don't build as much power, but there is no lag as they are belt driven instead of exhaust gas driven.
Yes get it. The GTS hatchback is the most desirable model because it has the 4age engine and Takumi drove a hatch in Initial D. $4,500 isn't bad if the car is in good shape.
i honestly think if the turd loses, (for those who have not seen the video), that you guys should do a crushing video, with a complete background of what the turd has been through. I do expect this to be the case if the turd is to be crushed, but i feel as though the viewers and Marty have grown very attached to the blue turd. make it a tear jerker guys. Maybe share a tofu burger over the crushing.
It all has to do with drivetrain layout. a classic FR layout deals with a bit of corner entry understeer just from the weight of the engine up front. V10 dodge vipers don't really turn. Anything with a V10 up front is hard pressed to turn in corners. The v10 you are refering to are MR.The engine is just in front of the rear tires so its weight adds traction.
The VN might be a boat, and you might say it has more cylinders than it needs, but its an aussie boat, and they are aussie cylinders, and for a boat, they drift damn good, the best part about them, from 1979 to 1997, they all fell and handle pretty much the same, so master one, and youll be kink in the rest of them. Then you get in a post 98 commodore, and then you get to drift a cathedral :)
In all honesty, Marty's blue Turd is quite a respectable car, and frankly to have beaten as many challenges that were thrown at it, this car deserves a sticker on the website. I would love to purchase a sticker of the blue turd called "Blue Turd Lover", and would not be shamed to tell my friends that "I am a Lover of the Turd."
yeah the reason its cold is because in Australia its winter and because i live in Victoria, its colder then somewhere like Queensland or Northern Territory because we are further away from the equator
They do actually, it's a Ford Falcon, which is basically same model as Typhoon! and JDM is Japanese Domestic Motors, basically like Hondas and sorts of cars from Japan!
Of course, Marty has to buy a new car! Marty always has to buy a new car, while Moog never has to buy a new car. Is Moog ever going to buy a new car, or his he going to live vicariously though Marty through every episode?!
like a rotary. theyre righteously small displacement motor's but make wicked power in comparison. even the "big" 4 rotor motor (say that fast) is only a 2.5l. its reliability that probably keeps them out of mainstream tuning. i love my v8, but respect is givin where its due.
I know this comment is a bit late, but did anyone else's heart just break when Marty said: "No, I don't want to crush the Turd! I like it too much!"?
I know mine did, that love man. That love
jiberishnr1 i can't press the link , dude.
Guy insaga You copy and paste it at the end of youtube(dot)com bro
thanks for the info , i didnt't understand it at first :/
Guy insaga lol no worries, it happens
12:15 one of the saddest moments on MCM, R.I.P Blue Turd, but all your bits went on for a good cause.
Your welcome
+Svatekl2 ☆ Well if you look at the videos on the right, you will probably see "Martys car gets crushed" so you would have to assume that it lost..
+Svatekl2 ☆ Why would you read the comments that discuss the video before you wave watched it ??
@Svatekl2 This was 3 years ago but i still have the same question. Why read the comments before watching the video? It isn't a spoiler really. What were you expecting? the vn v8 is a true australian bogan muscle car
Definitely a muscle car... slow, can't corner, uses a lot of fuel... :P
silverss onyoutube you mean boat
It's so triply watching videos now where you guys are stripped down for summer weather, and watching these old videos in our summer when you were all bundled up for winter. It's very trippy.
I love when the soundtrack changes to sad-music at 12:20 = the instant that the dream dies. Well done.
Another great episode of MCM! Keep it up
hahaha, "Initial T for Turd!" I just can't stop laughing at that. XD

Seeing exhibition races between old Toranas/Falcons with minis in the mix is so good for that kind of action. Heaps of overtaking because of it lmao
If youre tripped out about Australian Winter in august, imagine how we feel when everyone's singing about Frost and snow at Christmas and it's the middle of summer. Aussie Christmas is warm, usually with a barbeque.
The turd and Marty is still a better love story than twigh
light
A V8 was needed to beat the infamous Blue Turd. RIP.
to be fair, thats a 30 year old V8 thats still running fine. probably wouldnt stand a chance against one of the more modern commodores.
tbh I feel pretty bad for Marty, he does seem to like the turd, I don't see why they have to crush it.
i mean atleast just sell it right?
It wouldn't have passed rego again.
Moog loves his S15 but got forced to sell it versus a wagon... The wagon won for ridiculous aspects but the S15 is sold...!!!!
yoyoman9747 why?
Ryan Moody They said it in one of the videos. I don't remember which one though.
The Commodore looks like the Chevrolet Corsica sold in the US but it never came with a V-8. It's crazy that a 5.0 is barely better than a 1.3. Amazing Turd!!
***** I don't disagree with you. The turd is still awesome. What's an "XD fucking bogans."
Robert Cowan
Literally there is someone that drives a corsica in the exact condition of that car that lives near me I know, and acts exactly as Moog acted in that video.
Exactly!! And these people think I'm crazy. They look exactly the same!
Why crush it though. I now it's a pos but Marty loved the car so why go along with crushing it.
Dawn Pace I agree why waste a fun track day car
The shell was rusty and wouldn't probably pass its next round of inspection.
It's been replaced by the Mira and its plates live on Supergramps
The standard V8 VN commodore has 165kw & 395nm of torque. Cheers
Rcalltypes that's at the fly
I feel sorry for marty. He loved his little turd, he spent hours making it so mad and it got a special spot in his heart. Cmon moog, you just shattered his heart :(
138 kW from a 5 litre V8??? Only?
+Aristotelis Mitsiou (tkk7406) Lower compression ratio. Lots of 80's v8 mustangs, for example, had 8.5:1.
+Aristotelis Mitsiou (tkk7406) lol my VW cc 185 hp makes KW 130 (DIESEL)
after chipping a wopping 235 hp id smash that ford with 4 cylinders and diesel .....
+Rytis Kurcinskas you would beat the commodore, not the ford.
Kcufdurt Tnuc vw cc is a low coup/sallon , wiht better suspesion dual cluth gearbox and an engine to match not to forget the weight of the car is less then that truck or malon so to say it bluntly i would chop that ford

These guys are what Top Gear "used" to be years ago. I watch these guys every day, haven't seen an episode of Top Gear in ages.
I was not prepared for the feels.
130 kilowatts in a 5 ltr v8? shameful
165kW actually and tons of torque.

"This thing handles like a taxi" LOL! Hadn't laughed that hard in a while
This string of episodes is the funniest thing i've seen all week. Love it!
thats one i havent seen on your show is a v8 motor put in a tiny car
Nek minut..
+ismael ravenlock it's not really "stealth" or "stock", so that's probably why.
Modmax
I feel bad for Marty and the blue turd
Should make a sticker "I will destroy all Nissans""
The problem with that sticker is, after you apply it to your car, your gearbox explodes...
Then along come a GTR ohhhhh crap I've lost
Ian Townsend i would have won but my gearbox broke
that's a seriously weak V8.
Give it a break its from 1970 just been fine tuned since then haha
+kingcrimson234 cause itz gotta chev badge
+jaxon cook Uh, think you'll find it's from the late '80s, early '90s.
Lol nah man the 304 is based of the 308 which came into production in like 1969 bro haha
+jaxon cook age generally has nothing to do with hp the chevelle COPO of the 60 has upwards of 500 hp conservatively where u see hp dimish is when emissions became an issue in the late 60 early 70s and strangled v8s to very low specific output
It was bloody beautiful to see them show up with an XR8 Ute. Love me Aussie Fords!!!
My dad worked for Snap-On. That Snap-On Racing logo was EVERYWHERE throughout my childhood.
that guy talking about the v8 next to moog looks very Australian
first time i saw this i started to cry :( why is moog so mean?
Tofu makes people evil, It is full of female hormones.
PS:
Who would have thought that one can combine racism and sexism in such a short sentence.
Which part is racist?
What racism what how what im cunfusled
Damn Moog...two things: a helmet that fits and shorts that fit. You looked like a trucker in 8th grade gym shorts sitting on the hood of that Commodore.

This show still blows away most all car shows on cable/satellite!
This is the perfect duo for an Australian Top Gear just throwin that out there
the v8 is 165kw stock and the holden commodore was built in Elizabeth in south Australia..... get a new moderator lol
dean tape I suspect you're referring to kilowatts at the flywheel, whereas the mighty moderator would've been talking in terms of rwkw
Hugh-Mungus Willie still wrong dude they don't lose THAT much power past the fly.
You do realise 165kw is the engine sitting there, it's not pushing 1300kg through a gearbox tailshaft and diff. Moderator was pretty much spot on anyway, my mate put his VS 5l on the dyno not even a month ago and punched out 196hp which is 146rwkw. Think before you type.

he said the ENGINE had 138kw...
not that the car had 146rwkw.
and I know what drivetrain loss is idiot.
and hes wrong it isn't a fucking german car its fully Australian.
if he was talking about the v6 model the engine was a buick based engine and was 137kw but the car is still Australian and the v6 is not what hes looking at right there.
Are you mad because he said your precious V8 road boat commodore is underpowered?
'Cause it is...
in the intro for this season what video is it where Marty gets the umbrella taken off him by an angry lady?
+TNGclips1 It was in the AutoSalon series of videos. I think it was the Sydney episode.
+Ben Ward thanks man
I like Marty more
lol moog is the best...
Martys a douche.
You can't like one more, they are like yin and yang. Either one on their own is awkward, together they form the Voltron of cool.
R.I.P Blue turd!!, i'll never forget the day you proved a 1.3L is still better then a 5L commodore nugget, thank you for brightening my day and proving almost any 4 cyl is better the a 5L commodore.
lots of love Mr hondata.....
I got choked up at the end where Marty was saying his goodbyes... I know the feeling
Moog's shorty shorts at 2:20 lol
I'm so sad that it's scripted. The gopro was only on Moogs car not on marty's :(
+17 38 He obviously let Marty get ahead to show that he could keep up in the corners and threaten to pass on the straights. He loves his turd.
Liv him alonnnnne :'(
I really hope you guys didn't make him crush the Blue Turd. That car is cool for what it is. I totally understand the emotional attachment to a vehicle.
Watching the intro of an old MCM episode is like watching an old intro of Neighbours. Talk about flashbacks.
260kw vs a fart box that's just total win
finally some ford love yeeees
Man when the sad music started going I laughed.
I laughed so hard
You both don't have a soul 😭

I'm very shocked the Ford didn't break down mid race

the reason people are putting chevy badges on those is because in america, its a chevy lumina, same identical car
capris not lumina
Josh LaDue Depends on the model, I believe. The VEs are being marketed as an Omega as far as I know, too
Josh LaDue ford capri? aint those alot smaller?
Eirik Mæhlum chevy, not ford, and no
Josh LaDue you mean chevy caprice?

Email me when the whole season comes out on DVD. This suspense is for the birds.
It's already come and gone gang. 2 episodes ago! I won't give the spoiler here...

If that was a VF2 Commodore, that would have SMASHED the BT. But the BT was a mad car.
i honestly think if the turd loses, (for those who have not seen the video), that you guys should do a crushing video, with a complete background of what the turd has been through. I do expect this to be the case if the turd is to be crushed, but i feel as though the viewers and Marty have grown very attached to the blue turd. make it a tear jerker guys. Maybe share a tofu burger over the crushing.
I see Boeing stickers on the toolbox at the beginning! I work for Boeing in Everett WA building the 747! I got a little excited when I saw that lol
You guys are really great! Hope to see a lot more videos soon.
That XR8 Ute looked good. I haven't seen one in my suburb for a while.
Great vid as usual
The VN might be a boat, and you might say it has more cylinders than it needs, but its an aussie boat, and they are aussie cylinders, and for a boat, they drift damn good, the best part about them, from 1979 to 1997, they all fell and handle pretty much the same, so master one, and youll be kink in the rest of them. Then you get in a post 98 commodore, and then you get to drift a cathedral :)
Looking back on some of these old videos, There's some real gold there. lol.
GenFUBAR.
This is exactly how every big pot race goes. Good shit mcm, teach the world
The soul purpose of this show is not having fun and being as much of an obnoxious bastard as possible so spot on.
i almost cried with marty´s sad face, he had to say good bye to a little and faithful friend
That car is ideal for this show. Would be sick to see
In all honesty, Marty's blue Turd is quite a respectable car, and frankly to have beaten as many challenges that were thrown at it, this car deserves a sticker on the website. I would love to purchase a sticker of the blue turd called "Blue Turd Lover", and would not be shamed to tell my friends that "I am a Lover of the Turd."
yeah the reason its cold is because in Australia its winter and because i live in Victoria, its colder then somewhere like Queensland or Northern Territory because we are further away from the equator
you guys are so hilarious, the banter is brilliant :-)
They do actually, it's a Ford Falcon, which is basically same model as Typhoon! and JDM is Japanese Domestic Motors, basically like Hondas and sorts of cars from Japan!
That part where they referenced the Nissan vs Subaru vid lol
Of course, Marty has to buy a new car! Marty always has to buy a new car, while Moog never has to buy a new car. Is Moog ever going to buy a new car, or his he going to live vicariously though Marty through every episode?!
If I'm not wrong that commodore it's a "Opel Omega A" chassis
8:10
Cornering just fine there lol.
Pivoting around those front tires like a 3700 pound champion.
Yeah I also saw the Boeing stickers. We build SMEs for the 787 build project
Thanks. I just bought a hand made set for my GF's 135i. Should look great!
I started to cry when marty sad "i dont want to crush the turd i love is too much"
moog didnt actually drive that last lap though...how does that count?
Martin may say the wrong things at the wrong time, but he can certainly lose with honor. He's got Moog on that.
I thought this episode was fucking brilliant. Top job as always.
I agree, I have a 1997 Silverado with the Vortec 350. But I still respect, (and fear), something small like a Vtec.
just watched this video, dang Marty I felt bad when you said you loved it too much to crush it.
Looks like a Ford Falcon Ute. It would have been nice if we got the Falcons here, but we never get cool stuff.
"Initial T, for Turd" killed me!
Love that Back in Black sounding track
I wish we could get some of the Aussie Fords in the US. The Falcons are Sick!!!
It doesn't matter if you win by a inch or a mile, winning's winning!
Blue Turd was one of my favourite MCM cars
rs200 mustang 1940s f1 500 focus rs surprisingly a hell of alot of fun for fwd escort mk2 cosworth sierra cossy gt40
like a rotary. theyre righteously small displacement motor's but make wicked power in comparison. even the "big" 4 rotor motor (say that fast) is only a 2.5l. its reliability that probably keeps them out of mainstream tuning. i love my v8, but respect is givin where its due.
