- Taylor Swift hates Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and their beef started all the way back at the 70th Annual Golden Globes in 2017. During the show, Amy joked about Taylor dating history and breaking up with men just to write songs about them. But it didn’t stop there, Tina then joked about Taylor only dating famous guys and so she should avoid most of the men at the ceremony. Tina and Amy bantered back and forth as the audience laughed. Most people saw the jokes as harmless but Taylor didn’t see it that way. She made her opinions known in a magazine article and fired shots at Amy and Tina. Taylor said she was just a woman writing about her feelings and didn’t appreciate being portrayed as clingy or desperate. Taylor also said that there’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women. Amy responded and said she was a feminist and thought Taylor was talented. Then in 2020, Taylor and Amy presented the Golden Globe for Best Animated Motion Picture together. They didn’t address the beef directly on stage but the awkwardness between them made it clear they were trying to move past it.
The “special place in hell” comment is so completely unhinged.

Sounds like they didn’t make just “a” joke… they kept telling mean jokes about Taylor while Taylor was in the room, among a bunch of other very famous celebrities. That’s humiliating and mean, and I think Tina & Amy should be ashamed of themselves for that.
I think it's preferable to be able to take a joke if it's actually funny, and to let things go either way, but people who can't can have positive traits as well. I'm glad I'm not too famous and don't have strangers judging my every move.

I had to circle back to tell you that I just watched a video entitled "Taylor Swift & Martin McDonagh | Directors on Directors" in which Taylor invokes Tina Fey's line from 30 Rock: "I want to go to there." She wouldn't quote someone she hates, right? I highly recommend that video, as well.
I would be honored if Tina and Amy made a whole bit about me. Taylor needs to realize she isn’t the only person they joked about. In fact they became famous doing exactly what they did to her! Unfortunately Taylor can’t laugh at herself.

Everyone acts like Taylor is the only one writing about her relationship experiences… when almost every single artists does the exact same thing. It is so WEIRD to me that it’s only ever a problem for Taylor. I think it’s out of pure envy that she is as insanely successful as she is. It’s always been a trend to hate on Taylor. It’s always been nasty behavior to do so. You don’t have to like her or her music but the trash talking about the content of her art… is so weird & so hypocritical. Nearly EVERY artist writes about love & heartbreak, hardly any of them are able to add the storytelling element to it the way Taylor does.

The legendary John Cleese was jokingly poking fun at Taylor’s goofy looking cats and she was not having it. She basically shut down and was butt hurt about it. That’s when I saw a real lack of maturity that was so off putting. I know people are saying Taylor should just take it as a joke and move on, but it's not just a joke. If it was, one person would say it, it would be a laugh and she WOULD move on. But when everyone is constantly saying you play the victim and are making fun of your relationships and blaming you as a kid or young adult for relationships they know nothing about, along with masking all the comments as jokes, it's not funny anymore. A joke isn't funny when it's used this often in a way that puts others down, it's teasing and almost bullying. Just because she's a celebrity doesn't make things not hurt, if anything it makes it worse having everyone see it. (And this is not me saying she is not lucky or privileged, she is. But bullying is bullying, celebrity or not).
Also, I'm sure the comedians meant nothing by it, and it was just a not well thought out joke, and quite unfortunate. That being said, I think Taylor's reaction isn't entirely unjustified. I do hope they both can reach an understanding.

No it doesn't, those awards show jokes aren't usually that funny, I'm not going to listen to Tina and Amy's jokes but Taylor "not being able to take a joke" shows nothing about whether they were funny or mean, it just said something about her. Lots of people don't like jokes being made about them, my dad is one of those people and he's very down to earth and responsible.
My favorite awards show monologue was by Jimmy Kimmel in 2023 who I normally don't like at all, but it was a year after the Will Smith debacle and they were trying to keep it relatively non-offensive, when you do that you don't get to rely on shock value or controversy or being mean, and you have to think of jokes that are actually funny.

At this point most of the songs she writes are co-written with either Jack Antonoff or Aaron Dessner, few tracks she has done with her ex bf, Joe Alwyn. Trust me she doesn't need ghost writers, she's writing amazing songs since elementary school. If you being a member of ASCAP could tell that she has 10 ghost writers...she did not have the songwriter of the decade award which she has. I doubt this is true. Taylor Swift is famous for writing songs about her personal life, which means she has a healthy way to express negative thoughts. That is not the hallmark of a person that "hates" other people.
I am pretty sure the only people Taylor hates are the guy that runs her old label, Big Machine Records, and the douchebag to whom he sold her catalog. And she has actually started taking care of THAT, too, by re-recording her old albums. I will definitely be buying every "Taylor's Version" that she puts out.

True. I agree. But their jokes are offensive. Some might not take it seriously and not get offended but some might get offended just like Taylor. So maybe if someone speaks up about something like this, maybe it should be accepted and not thought of something like "Oh! Taylor Swift can't take jokes". Personally, I can take others jokes about myself and laugh at it but I have friends wherein they made a joke about one of our friends and thought it is funny but that one friend thought it is offending. Not all people are the same. But we should at least try to educate ourselves about that and others as we can instead of just ignoring it.
It is both okay to ignore or speak up. It just depends if you care or not. But if someone did speak up then we should listen and stop being stupid laughing at jokes that is offending someone.
