About this channel: We are the Smith's. A Christian family of 6, living in the country just outside of Georgetown, Texas. Granger, a touring country music singer, Amber, an actor and stay at home mom, and their children: London, Lincoln, River and Maverick.

It really does come down to just being kind to everyone. After losing our Son unexpectedly at 20 years old back in September we immediately became members of a club we didn't ask to be in or want to be in for that matter. However, this club has some of the most amazing people in the world in it who would do anything for anyone and want nothing more than the best for the others in and out of this club. I am grateful that you were willing to bring to light the reality of how some people struggle to be kind. Your words of "My Son is smiling bigger than he ever has in his life on earth" really hit home for me, and I KNOW that our Son too is indeed smiling bigger than he ever had on earth.. And he smiled A LOT!! Happy Thanksgiving to All of you!
Understand. My beloved son, my rock, my only child, died in his sleep a few days after we all celebrated his 49th birthday. He would light up room when he walked in. His laugh was hearty and infectious. He loved his film and extended family with all his heart. He left behind his 16 year old son, the joy of his life, and me, his Mom. We lost his Dad back in 2008. It's been a difficult year. Thank goodness I've been able to lean on Jesus. If you can be anything in this life,choose to be kind. You never know the difficulties people are dealing with.

Granger, glad you talked about that very hurtful comment. I could hear the hurt in your voice, but the compassion you have for that person is part of your testimony in your walk with our Heavenly Father.

Amen @vefafunk I heard that same hurt and compassion for that person who doesn't understand the power of God in healing, being non judgmental humans because we will be judged when we get to Heaven, and perhaps having some underlying pain involving the loss of a child of their own so let us pray for God's grace to help them on their journey of grieving.
I pray that someday, somehow the right doors will open for this person and Granger (or the whole Smith family) to meet so the Smiths can explain how Granger, Amber and the children grieved their loss of sweet River coming out on the other side knowing his loss is an Earthly one and River is with everyone on the other side laughing, playing and checking on his family everyday. Let's love first and always be kind because you just don't know what the person you've talked to is personally going through.

We should all pray for that woman. She may have lost a child and hasn’t come to a place of peace with it, and is taking it out on Granger and Amber. I think we should all extend a little Grace. Granger addressed it no need to return hate. I pray for her heart to be changed.

Your heart is pure and huge and a beautiful reminder to us all to (1) watch our words - speak with compassion and grace and (2) consider how to react to unkind or inappropriate comments by recognizing they do not come from a good place, perhaps from pain but certainly inappropriate, and arise to the challenge of maintaining the higher ground. I had same experience when I lost a beloved family member to Covid a few years ago. My grief was overwhelming at times. The comments people made about Covid were very hurtful and I felt very much alone in my grief. I gave up social media until a few months ago. It’s been nice watching your videos again. I understand the pain you are feeling. Compassion and empathy for others are in short supply lately. I’m so sorry this happened to you guys.

I’ve never heard of you before but I admire the way you handled this is very inspiring. 20 years ago I lost my only son at age 9. Some people I worked with questioned my feelings. Saying things like I didn’t feel bad enough because I’m at work not crying or curled up in a ball in the corner. Sorry but life went on for me and my husband and the rest of my family. We all had broken hearts but we had no choice but to go on. I went to work after 2 months under threat of losing my job . Same with my husband . Unless something like this happens to you, you don’t understand how life continues no matter what . Thank you for being so inspiring.

Absolutely love the new album!! 😍 my favorite songs on the Moonrise album are In This House, Still Find You and I Wanna. I have listened to this album constantly since it dropped so I can learn all the words to the songs so I can sing along while I am in the car driving or cleaning house!!

My first thought on that persons remark is they are hurting and possibly lost a child and is not in a healthy place of mind, I’m sure that remark hit hard on you and your right River is smiling like a champ❣️

Granger you handled that better than I would have. River would be proud of his daddy, mommy and siblings. He's smiling down on you all and dancing to every song you write, to every word you say. River is happier than ever, and safer than ever. That little boy will always be smiling big down on you. Don't let people who know nothing get to you. Your family is amazing, I don't comment a lot on anything but this I had to. You're an amazing dad, amazing husband, singer, songwriter and people that make comments like that aren't happy so try to make others unhappy like them and just need to keep their mouths shut. As the old saying goes "if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all."

You laugh about the streaming on repeat, but my 8 1/2 Year Old has had Country Things (the song)on repeat streaming every night (all night long) since it's release! Before that, she has That's Why I Love Dirt Roads steaming on repeat every night. We'll have to give this one a listen and see if she gets hooked on it now. 😉
I never heard of you, and I don't know why your video showed up on my suggested videos. But I am mortified for you. And for anyone that this horrible comment might have harmed. I don't know why people have to be so hateful. Especially at the loss of a child. Yes, your son is smiling down at you, with no pain. But as a parent, it still has to hurt. I'd say you're right. This person has their own pain, that they hide from themselves by making comments like this. I hope they find their way, and become a better person. It breaks my heart to hear these words though. I never could have children. But I love everyone else's kids, and want the very best for them.
