After using riceberry face serum by litttleextrra for three weeks, here's what I felt:
Benefits: It effectively softens and evens out the skin, giving it a subtle glow. I've also noticed a decrease in my genetic dark circles (avoiding the eye area is recommended). It has also helped fade dark spots on my sister's skin.
Cons: Personally, mine is dry and dull skin, and using the serum daily exacerbated my dryness.
I suggest using it three times a week along with a good moisturizer to prevent dryness. I haven't seen any noticeable improvement in tan or pigmentation issues in first 3 weeks.
Update 2 months later: After almost two months of consistent use, I consider it my go-to face serum. It has started showing promising outcomes. My skin glows, dark circles lessened, and dark spots faded a lot. So perseverance is key when using this face serum.

It is so good face serum; it enhances glowing your face, appearance, blemishes, dark spots, skin tone, signs of aging, black heads, sun exposure. It is absolutely fantastic. Five stars to riceberry vitamin c face serum from me.

@@latitamontoya i rarely use vit c tbh. I am planning to use it more often. It's summer here in Australia and most days I'm out. Im so focused on calming my oily acne prone skin after a day outside at night. Because im careful not to aggravate inflammation with vit c. I havent been game to use it often.
I am planning to buy either Dr. V's Antioxidant Power Serum or her Trio Blemish PM Moisturiser - because they contain all the antioxidants I need in the right amounts for my SOC
But my take on Vit C application -
Like what I said above, I will use vitamin C it in nights where my skin is not inflammed from pollition or sun exposure.
Just so it does not aggravate the inflammation. Skin needs to calm down first before I can put potent actives on.
Fingers crossed with adding vit c to my routine with Dr. V's stuff 🙏❤️😁

I appreciate your high quality content and reviews. Many thanks!

    • @mcstuffins
      @mcstuffins Рік тому +1

I think the first time she meant the inkey list's regular vitamin c cream that comes in a squeeze bottle as it isn't as protected against air exposure and hence prone to oxidise. The second time I think she does recommend their vitamin c 15% & EGF as this one does come in an airless pump packaging. The pictures probably just a technical mistake

Really excellent video Dr.V! Compared to your previous videos on vitamin C this felt much more comprehensive, I love that you included examples of what to avoid. Only thing I would point out is you showed the inkey vitamin C photo that you don't recommend as the same one as you do recommend which was confusing. I looked it up and realized inkey list has another vitamin c that isn't in airless packaging.

I have noticed taking vitamin c internally is awesome for the skin ( plain old ascorbic acid with no other vitamins in it) I take 2 to 4 thousand straight ascorbic acid a day, you could take more. I have brown skin and my dark spots disappeared. It really is the fountain of youth, but take it internally not applying it externally

The Medik8 vitamin c contains Tetrahexyldecl Ascorbate known to be highly stable so is a formula that is compatible with a dropper bottle dispenser and so potency does last through to the 12m expiry date. I’ve used it for years and it’s a clear liquid which I’ve never seen change colour since by using TA instead of L ascorbic it doesn’t oxidise. Also it penetrates through the epidermis and dermis. It’s also less irritating to skin which is an important trait for skin of colour since we don’t want hyperpigmentation issues later. The only con is it isnt as powerful as L ascorbic so you may need to add extra arsenal to your skin game such as Azaelic acid. For me though as an Indian having used it for several years consistently my complexion is definitely brighter and I do get regularly complemented on it and it’s fantastic to be 49 and not wear foundation since you think your natural skin colour is more glowing! ❤️

Thank you for all the information and knowledge you share with us. I really appreciate it ❤. I was using Olay vitamin C AHA 24 before but now I use L'Oréal Vitamin C serum along with L'Oréal spf 50+Vitamin C. The serum turned yellow overtime but it says on the packaging that it will but it doesn't say that the it will be less effective when turned yellow. Thank you for educating us about things like this 🙏🏾. Also on both products it says on the packaging to use it daily in the morning which I did but now I'm confused as to which time of the day and how often should I use it. However, I think I preferred the Olay after using L'Oréal because I could see my skin was getting really bright and clear, the change were very visible and people noticed it and was complimenting on my skin. Since started L'Oréal Vitamin C, I don't see any changes but I think I also damaged my skin barrier because my skin around my eyes became itchy and eczema like flaky effect and also the overall skin suddenly started feeling a bit stinging too when using my daily skin care products. Anyway, this only started happening after I started using the L'Oréal spf 50 + Vitamin C with the Serum. When I was using the Olay vitamib C gel or L'Oréal Vitamin C serum , I used Dr.V spf 50 and then swapped to La Roche Posay spf 50 just for the experience and had no problems with either of the combinations, it is just after I changed over to L'Oréal spf 50+ I started to experience the problem. I am thinking is it because I am using too much Vitamin C because I am putting Vitamin C followed by another product that also contains Vitamin C.

Hello i am slightly confused and have 3 questions-- 1) You have recommended drunk elephant C Firma and Paula's choice but both have ascorbic acid as vit c which have ascorbic acid which is unstable.. so is it okay with proper packaging to use ascorbic acid??? 2) Also you have recommended Facetheory and Ordinary vit c serums as AM serums but their packaging isnt ideal. So is it ok with safe vit c derivatives to use vit c serum with pump? 3) are ascorbic acid serums a COMPLETE NO for morning routine??

I love your contents and videos. You are amazing!
I know your focus is in skin of color but sometimes I get very confuse because I am not sure if the tips are for all types of skins or specifically for skin of colors.
Does this tips are also for lighter skins? Because I used vitamin c in the mornings daily for so many years 😐

    Dr. V,
Thank you for this informative video. I am, however confused. I have skin of color. I use Skinceuticals ce ferulic in the morning to protect against free radical damage - not for brightening, and a prescription retinoid at night. You don’t recommend l-ascorbic acid for skin of color but instead recommend other forms of vitamin c, including a brand which contains vitamin c and a retinoid. Everything I’ve ever read from Derms about vitamin c says l-ascorbic acid is the best option to protect against free radical damage as it is the most studied/tested form of vitamin c. For clarification, my two questions are: Why would I use any form of vitamin c during the day which contains a retinoid? And, are you saying that the l-ascorbic acid I am using is exfoliating my skin? Thank you in advance for your response. All the best. Tracey.

After listing to many of your videos I have a better understanding of what to look at when ordering a product. Could you make a video on aging dull dry skin with hyperpigmentation issues?
