Funky Technician was a damn good album. And yeah, Lord Finesse is severely underrated. Not only was he a great lyricist, but his production was also great. He was the complete package. It's really weird as to why he was so underrated.
Every episode of crate diggers I've seen has been excellent. All of the DJs/artists have shown their love of music and records with zero attitude or elitism.
The record dealer that Finesse is speaking of that held up the record collection for Prince B (PM Dawn), was Pittsburgh's own Jerry, of Jerry's Records. A LOT of producers quietly come through here. An unnamed producer bought Jerry's ENTIRE 45 room.
I think i finally found out what track he sampled this Magnum record on. Re-listening through a lot of the Funky Man's production, i'm 100% pretty sure he sampled the song "Which Doctor's Brew" for the bassline of Big L's Street Struck. He definitely filtered out the low end, re-arranged parts from the sample and probably did some pitching.
**** THIS NEEDS MORE VIEWS ***** youngin's just dont know the LEGACY & IMPORTANCE of this LEGEND. Salute to you LORD FINESSE. Thankx for giving us a peek into ur vault collection
word man...he speaks in such a relaxing way hhaha..Damn he should make a relaxation tape , just speaking about records... Im here all fucked up..listening to this and it actually made me smile. Also that part about code and shit..i miss that in hiphop nowadays..a lot has changed and im not even from his era..but I love those days and the code and ethics there were in the game Peace bruh :)
AHHHH UNDER BOSS.... VINYL IS THE WINDOW TO UR SOUL! D.I.T.C. HAS INSPIRED MANY A DJ OR PRODUCER OR EVEN UR GARDEN VARIETY RECORD COLLECTOR. I'M INSPIRED EITHER WAY BY THIS DUDE, HE'S PACKING HEAT AFTER HEAT FOR WAX KID... SALUTE!!!!!!!

Very weird. He was like a slowed down diff style Kane kinda. I think part of it is Big L outshined him, but Lord Finesse 90-97 was always ILL!

D.I.T.C shot Lord Finesse keeping it real
Right in the beginning of this video, Lord Finesse might want to retract that statement

This is why i always loved finesse... Such a real dude. And also, hes crew was called D.I.T.C which means Diggin' In The Crates.
Ain't no doubt, Fuse, you gotta do the sessions with Nick Wiz, K-Def, Buckwild, Showbiz, Tha 45 King etc. Props.

Everything that I mainly got in here now is kinda ACCURATE.
Lord Finesse such an overall HipHop legend who doesn’t get nearly the amount of flowers he should from non heads.
Kinda ironic he's on Crate Diggers with a Diggin In The Crates shirt
That's his crew. Check out SKITS music video
DITC is the best rap group, elite producers and MC's in one crew
his swv remix to right here was a killer when it dropped on the maxi single in '93!!!
best series ever
Where's the new album lord? Need that ASAP🔥

Must have been a nice feeling to find out your track made it on bigs album
So, all these years later now in 2021.....has anyone figured out where he sampled from that Magnum album that he's talking about at 9:55?
He used it on “Street Struck” by Big L
Fuse we need that PM Dawn Episode...
You are so right. Still the man though. I had his Awakening album back in 96' loved it.
One of the best producer's
The Emanuelle in America vinyl sitting on his shelf is super dope
he got the MAGNUM album in the background!! nice one!
from far, the best crate diggers
He used the magnum record in street struct
One of the Illest Emcee's & Producers of all time....Period
Finesse is a lyrical beast and production genius 💯
