@MultiBoxingKid Oh yeah. Matt & Trey mentioned that with all the awards and achievements they've received threw out the years, nothing compares to that autograph photo of Sadam.
Fun Fact: Back in the day, the MPA had a specific rule saying that if you have over 400 swear words in your movie, it will be rated NC-17, which most theaters won't show. *This film has 399 swear words.*
cool! Another fun fact about this movie I didn't know. I like the one about the title, where they tried a bunch of different dick jokes, all rejected by producers, except - bigger, longer and uncut hahahaha
Cartman's V-chip exploit at the end was probably the easiest to adjust to the target swear count. Adjusting the rest of the movie would have required either unnaturally censoring swear words for characters with no filter, or cramming too many swear words into a single sentence. But Cartman could say as many swear words as he wanted just to electrocute Satan and Sadam Hussein, so he could choose the exact number needed to make the total number 399. Also, "Barbara Streisand" isn't technically a swear word. She's just somebody Cartman hates, as do Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
Fun fact: "Blame Canada" was nominated at the Oscars for Best Original Song and lost to Phil Collins "You'll Be in My Heart" from Tarzan. Trey and Matt attended the Oscars wearing dresses formerly worn by Jennfier Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow.
And somehow they lost to Phil Collins for Disney's Tarzan which never made sense then and now. Usually a grand performance at the Oscars is a shoe-in, at least in the 90s, and Matt and Trey were right to never let it go. The Academy gets it right sometimes but they're notorious since forever for often getting it wrong because it's populated by boomers with votes and everyone else simply voting for their friends and colleagues usually not even having seen the nominated flicks themselves.
Brian Boitano loved his appearance. He still uses his South Park figure as Twitter profile pic and (according to his Twitter) he danced to it on a special event and named a tv show "What would Brian Boitano make". And seriously, i would too. I mean i can't remember another character in the South Park universe that is showered with love like that.
Gates canonically survived that. In "The Entity" he shows up as a potential investor, with a bandage on his head, but it's not on correctly, so you can still see the wound.
11:00 I love how they hide the truth in those quick lyrics. They know what this is all about: "We must blame them and cause a fuss, before someone thinks of blaming us"
That's why even they didn't fight it because South Park by the second season was so huge. It goes to show that studio execs, as I often say since forever, are probably the dumbest human beings on the planet. And I work within the industry and can guarantee this is an objective fact.
You continue to be the greatest reactor to South Park on earth. Every time I see you upload I smile. You appreciate the humor while still deep-diving on the social commentary and references hidden within. Keep being you, man.
When I saw this in the theaters, I was 22. There were a suprising number of kids in the audience. Most parents drug there kids out of there 5 minutes into it, but there was a 10 year old sitting next to me with his dad, that stayed for the whole thing.
They showed this movie on Comedy Central UNCENSORED after midnight in 2001. I programmed my VCR and recorded it. Watched it nonstop for about a month. I was 11. Life has never been the same.
This is when Kenny became my favorite character. He was able to talk down the devil and then sacrificed himself by volunteering to go to hell to save the world.
I know Matt and Trey said in the commentary that they would love to remaster this movie and tbh i'd love to see that and it get re-released at cinemas. Imagine going to the cinemas to watch this now, all of us singing the songs
I would love to see it in theaters! I think I didn't get the chance to see it when it originally released before. I was only 12 years old when it came out. So there was no chance in hell my mom would have taken me to the theaters to see THAT back then lol 😂!
Funny thing about this movie, here on Brazil it was transmitted by the second largest TV company of the country, but it was a time that everyone thought cartoons were exclusively for children. The TV company, even thinking on that, made the movie for adults, which means rating it 16+ and around 22:30. After being transmitted, it caused a major controversy on the country, because those same people couldn't even start to imagine that these type for cartoons to exist. So, the TV company was basically fined with 2m reais (around 700k usd on that time), the movie was banned for being aired again for almost ten years, but it was later allowed to be aired on cable TV, due to the TV company following rigorously the law on that time and it was the beginning of the witch hunt for content that could be looked as innapropriate for children on TV that lasted many years. Yeah, the whole situation was stupid, but at least it helped to solidify that the people on power around here are a bunch of ignorants who pretend to be intelligent.
Fun fact, they pretty much thought they were cancelled after season 2 and that this film was pretty much the end of South Park at the time. Pretty much everyone in Hollywood were expecting this film to flop and were all pleasantly surprised by its success. Blame Canada was nominated for an Oscar.
Unfortunately, it was beaten out by Phil Collins and his work on Tarzan that same year. I got nothing against Collins or his work...but Matt and Trey were robbed of that Oscar.
@ lol Yeah, and they held a grudge ever since. I was too young to understand at the time, but that's the reason they have Phil Collins Hill when Carman commits a hate crime. I actually adore Strangers Like Me from Tarzan and could totally see that being competition, but I don't even have a clue what his song that won is... Damn shame.
George clooneys second appearance as a voice actor on the show as the doctor, he was instrumental in helping matt and trey back in the day trading their spirit of Christmas video around Hollywood.
Fun fact: there was a 400 swear word limit for the film. If there were more than 400 swear words the movie would've gotten an NC-17 rating so Matt and Trey made sure there was only 399
Thank you again for pointing out references that are easily missed by myself included but surprised you didn't get 26:03 which is from Full Metal Jacket (1987) 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The low angle shot of Kenny's doctor (George Clooney) & medical staff is from E.R (1994-2009). Cartland being fitted with the V chip and what it does to him reminds me of A Clockwork Orange (1971). The Brian Boitano song is from The Spirit of Christmas.

The songs were catchy as heck too. When my best friend, who didn't want to see the movie at the time, heard the songs, he went out and bought the soundtrack without seeing the movie. I think a year or two later, he finally saw the movie and loved it. The other Parker & Stone movie, Team America: World Police, topped Bigger, Longer And Uncut. I almost died of hysterical laughter when I saw that at the theaters. I wish those 2 would make more movies.

Awesome thing for you to come back on. This movie is timeless!
Glad you finally checked this one out, been missing your content. Keep it up brother, the songs in this movie are certified bangers
Dude, you have amazing memory and attention to detail. I also can't believe how much trivia and references you found. And did you actually create the Kenny subtitles by ear? Thank you for the work you put into this reaction. It was a lot of fun, and I've learned so much!
Welcome back. We missed you. And for your first time back to be finally reviewing this movie is awesome.
Way to go Dash. Glad you finally got to this gem👍🏻.
And yes, i wish they’d make another movie. Especially now with relevant characters like butters, timmy, jimmy, towlie, etc
I checked your video description and saw the JapanesePod 101 recommendation. Think I'll give it a try. also great reaction.
The reaction king is back, HAPPY NEW YEAR DASH, hope you're doing great

My brain: there goes sleeping
At least for me I managed to catch it before it's time for me to wrap it up for bed lol. Also I'm sick so better to watch this than go to bed 😂! Sleeping is so much worse for me when I'm sick, but a video from Dash makes me feel just a little bit better 😌.
Team America: World Police!!!
Dash already did a reaction video to that movie a couple of years ago
