Scarface was set in Miami in the 80s. Seeing a guy walking around with a machine gun was probably a fairly common occurrence in certain areas. Miami was the major entry point for drugs coming in from Latin America (marijuana and cocaine) and Europe (heroin). There were processing facilities all over southern Florida where the drugs would be cut and packaged for distribution to the rest of the country. That's why a lot of the drug-crime movies and tv shows from the 80s are set in Miami.

This movie is so brilliantly made with such an A-list cast. Top 10 movie for me. I love the scene where Tony meets Sosa for the first time. He is literally eating the lemons out of the finger bowl because he doesn't know any better because of his background. A little thing like that says so much about his character and Sosa takes notice. He sees right through his $1000 suit and knows exactly what kind of man Tony is and immediately wants to recruit him.

It's very common these days, people "rooting" for characters. That's how shows and movies are usually being written nowadays, and that's how people are being educated. To my mind that's crap writing. Whats funny is that comment about him not liking Colombians is pretty common amongst the Hispanic /Latina America community. Not just to Colombians but just like with Mexicans not getting along with Salvadorians sometimes. Or how Puerto Ricans are seen by some of us that they think theyre better than the rest 😂 little differences in cultures and dialect is mainly what it comes down to. Again, not always, it's just one of those funny things.
The first time I saw this movie I was 6 and I loved it, I wanted to be like Tony. Now that I'm an adult I feel sorry for him. The paradox of "The world is yours" while the body floats lifeless over the fountain is one of the most profound and significant images in cinema. Al Pacino is magnificent in this movie.
One of the best films ever made. While it is in the gangster genre, Scarface is more of an indictment of 80s greed and excess, and how it ultimately leads to ruin. For me, Pacino's acting here is out of this world. The scene where he kills Manny, and then Gina tells him they were married, the look on his face is fantastic. This is a man who went from having everything to having nothing in that moment there. So much can be said about just that one scene. Definitely watch The Godfather saga. That is completely about mafia life and a fantastic saga. Pacino is amazing in that too.
Are those BAND MAID ribbons on your nails?? They're an all female Japanese rock band and there's more bands that kick ass too I wish they were around when I was stationed in japan
It's almost a throwaway scene, but when Tony and Manny are at the club pool talking about picking up girls it shows a huge amount of Tony's real character. Tony knows that these silly pick-up tricks won't really work, and sits next to a little boy and says watch my friend make a fool of himself by sticking his tongue out to a girl - who then behaves exactly as you'd expect. It's such a simple and sharp way to demonstrate how good Tony is at reading people (when he's sober), and how adaptable to the changing rules he is. His code is simple and ruthless, and effective, so long as he has a goal. Just excellent story telling.
In honor of this reaction for one of your father's movies, I'm going to go watch a movie my father always told me about. It's a comedy called Diner from the early 80s. He mentioned it a lot because I quoted movies constantly as a child, and I guess there's a character in that movie who does that. So my father would always tell me about it like he'd never told me before. lol He passed away a number of years ago, and I bought the movie but never watched it. You've inspired me, so today's the day!
8:29 it's 6 weeks working in an entry level job such as a waiter. Google says 1983 Florida "average" rent for a house cost $505. So back then $500 was about $4000 Danish Krone today?
It was thematically (not visually) more explicit in the original 1932 film, but Tony had a thing for his sister which he obviously couldn't express. This sublimated emotion came out as rage and jealousy over any man that Gina was close with, thus Gina's final comments to her brother.
For your next mafia movie, please react to "CASINO" with Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone, & Joe Pesci,. It's a TRUE STORY and one the the BEST movies ever!

I have seen this movie so many times. I was in Miami in the early '80s, and I associated with people I wish I didn't back then. Most of them are in jail or dead because not very many people walk away from that lifestyle; drugs and money can be very addictive. But when you have to look over your shoulder all the time, and you're destroying your mind and body, that's no kind of life. And, like in this movie, you can't trust anyone. Al Pacino was so good in this; if you haven't seen the movie Heat with him and Robert De Niro, I highly recommend it.
One of my all time favorite films, a brilliant character study of a really bad guy. Like Roger Ebert said in his four star review, Scarface is a portrait of a real louse

42:00 ...I like the fact that through the entire of the movie, Tony commits crime after crime after crime and life seem to get better and better; yet sparing the wife and the kids, the only good thing he does, turns out to be his downfall...
I guess is true that no good deed goes unpunished.
Check these movies out: Goodfellas(1990)(Based on a True Story), American Gangster(2007)(Based on a True Story), American Me(1992), Training Day(2001), Menace ll Society(1993), Jackie Brown(1997), Paid In Full(2002), New Jack City(1991), Boyz N The Hood(1991), and The Warriors(1979).
fun fact, the movie was updated in the 3rd version of the dvd to come out in the united states with upgraded gun sounds. If you watch the older dvds, or vhs versions, the guns sound tiny or like old gun sound effects.
Hearing Kamilla say "yeyo" is S-tier.
😂😂
Whats funny is that comment about him not liking Colombians is pretty common amongst the Hispanic /Latina America community. Not just to Colombians but just like with Mexicans not getting along with Salvadorians sometimes. Or how Puerto Ricans are seen by some of us that they think theyre better than the rest 😂 little differences in cultures and dialect is mainly what it comes down to. Again, not always, it's just one of those funny things.
One of my favorite reactors. Unlike most others, she doesn't perform her reactions. Just watches with you and comments
😎👍
Watching a bunch of Americans pretending to be Cuban is more entertaining than watching actual Cubans.
$500 back then is around $2700 today, great nails, great reaction 😉
For 45 tons of weed , too little money for that much work and risk 😂
This gangster movie is a pure classic
$500 then is about $2500 today. My rent in 82 was $500. Same apartment 2500. 5 grand is about 25K
The classic gangster films: The Godfather trilogy; the Scorsese trilogy; the DePalma trilogy; Donnie Brasco.
Very good editing. This movie has some of the most F words
Thank you so much! 🥳
Just found your channel a few days ago...I've been enjoying it! Subscribed!
Definitely NOT one of the best films ever made.
Good film, not great.
Are those BAND MAID ribbons on your nails?? They're an all female Japanese rock band and there's more bands that kick ass too I wish they were around when I was stationed in japan
The guy that kills Tony looked like the corniest dude in the whole movie
They shoulda made him look badass
What ya Mean Corny 😂😂 That Man looked like The Terminator
1:45 Mobb Deep actually sampled this song, the song is called "It's Mine"
GREAT editing. The best I’ve seen!!
WIII!!! Thank you, I spent so much time on this one 🥰
There's lots of slang for every drug. Yayo is a real term (though more common in the period the movie was set,but remade popular by this film)
$500.00 is like $15,000 bucks or so...
When I was a little kid Michelle Pfeiffer was a checker at the only grocery store in my hometown in the 70's.
"Oh, Tony" is the perfect reaction. lol
0:11 ...Wolverine, eat your heart out.
33:16 It is very slippery. You don't really know until you feel it. :)
8:29 it's 6 weeks working in an entry level job such as a waiter. Google says 1983 Florida "average" rent for a house cost $505. So back then $500 was about $4000 Danish Krone today?
Impressive. This is a tough film to watch.
28:13 - The start of Tony’s slow downfall
How is that the start of Tony's slow downfall
@@joelramnarine Watch everything that happens after the Push It To The Limit montage.
(FYI) Recommend these new series: SHOGUN (2024) & 3 Body Problem (2024)
It was thematically (not visually) more explicit in the original 1932 film, but Tony had a thing for his sister which he obviously couldn't express. This sublimated emotion came out as rage and jealousy over any man that Gina was close with, thus Gina's final comments to her brother.
This is a remake of a movie about Al Capone.
@3:40 Silk sheets are horrible. I cannot understand how some people can sleep in those. I tried them years ago for a few days, and it was torture.
Such a good movie.
I've always felt terrible for Manny, he was done dirty so was Ginna
The original Boss Frank...too many great movies! Like a vampire movie and Indepence Day!
Early tony is a Vibe 😂
yes guy in white blazer looks familiar because he was in Amadeus as Salieri
I enjoyed that reaction. Thanks!
For your next mafia movie, please react to "CASINO" with Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone, & Joe Pesci,. It's a TRUE STORY and one the the BEST movies ever!
Ur intro made me cry. I'm in the same exact bout as u love. I lost my dad a couple of years ago and it makes me so happy I can look back at his favorites at the same age as u 22
My pops passed at 40 years old when I was 20 I hope u had more time with yours if not I'm very very sorry im here if u ever need to vent about it! I'm probably one of the few people who seriously know what u went thru ❤
"a more spicy version of Jack Nicholson"
LOL
😂😂 lmao 🤣 ghetto classic! Take a shot of alcohol everytime they say "cono"! Be hammered drunk by the end of chainsaw scene 😂 🔥 reaction 🍻💯🔥
