    I do alot of this stuff in Australia take hats that are neglected in boxes or stored on a shelf under stuff. Wish i had a hat shop full of the proper stuff to do it as fast as you can but my garment steamer and custom made hat stretcher get by. So great to see videos of older hats brought back to life.

    That was when Hat Makers were a Common Business in the 60's-80's. If you wrap the Hat around your Side(Body) you can get a perfect Arch. Nice Hat and nice Metal Block Tool. That thing and the Steamer are built forever and ever. A Man and his Tools are a beautiful thing!

      RB King yeah, when I saw that, I knew I’d have to do a before and after, we get stuff way worse, flattened like accordions and covered in grime.. I just never think to film them, he’s getting a new leather sweatband, that thing is gonna look new when we’re done..I’ll work on it a while longer,too..

      I watched you do CPR on that hat, it was in critical condition but its breathing on it’s own now and in stable condition and awaiting a sweat band transplant now and will good as new lol , it’s another “bule dream “ kind of day for me my imagination is starting to get out there so have a great evening & keep those videos coming!

      I remain here year after year,so I don't get involved w them, I'm too busy running around drinking too much coffee, helping three customer s at once.. but yeah,the vintage dudes are awesome, very nice young fellas

    Old school cartoon music, at least anything by Warner Brothers, likely comes from Raymond Scott. He did an album called Powerhouse which has all of the old classic cartoon music he wrote.

      Thank you, I've been told I'm everything from "soothing" to "meth is a hell of a drug" I have a high metabolism and lotsa energy,when I get some coffee in me with a crowded shop..I dart around from customer to customer,and folks say,"slow down!"
      I'm usually pretty hyper, I'm working on it though... cutting down on the coffee etc but that's the first time my video has been called therapeutic,cool😎!!!
      I usually just wing it, start with a title.. Its a risk,but I like to stay real,no scripts.so u get the good along w the bad...I like it better than the slick,edited style of other channels... It's cheaper and u get to see the real me, not the scripted version I decide to show...
      thank you.
      😃 Kevin

    Interesting hat. The original cowboy hat was the Boss of the Plains, open crown flat brim. It got its shape from use. The new Texas/Rancher style has that flat area in the front of the brim. Uglier than homemade soap.

    What would it entail to get it cleaned and blocked with a new hatband? And the the crease of choice?

    • @KTGHATS
      @KTGHATS  5 років тому

      The new hat band involves the hat maker, his name is “Van”, you can get a custom made band for $30, it would take some time, there is only one hatmaker and a lot of jobs ahead of you, it could take a couple of weeks for the band, but u can do anything u want.. he even has tie dyed,swirly looking ones he makes himself.. a band job is $30 and takes time, the reshaping and other stuff is fast, I’ll do it the same day it arrives...turnaround time on that is fast

    Would you be able to return a hat to an open crown shape from a brick crease? It’s a 10x silverbelly Rodeo King.

    • @KTGHATS
      @KTGHATS  2 роки тому +1

      Using just steam, it'll still show little shadows of the old creases.. u would need to really stretch it over a block,while it's wet maybe sand the top clean too.going back to a clean open crown w steam alone is not easy, usually the crown gets stretched from it's old shape and the stretched parts won't un-stretch using this process. I've faked 8t before but it took a ton of work and I have the strong steam,blocks and equipment to help
      and even the it wasn't perfect

The most extreme hat surgery of my career.. lot if pressure too, it was his grandma's hat, nice, native American family,they have ant to wear her hat,now that she's gone,but she wore extra extra small... • @KTGHATS

      That is a hand made custom hat made in our workshop by our hat maker,Van, I modified it,but yes, u can have anything made to order in any color u can dream up, if u are willing to pay for a full custom job, usually $500, but it’s limited only by your imagination..anything goes.. call weekdays,ask for Van, he can make u any hat in this color, or this hat in any color...
