I like the peace of the desert and the vastness of it all, it's what I grew up with. The V1050 is a nice bike, with a lot of improvements over the V1000 you and I have. Great to see you doing better on the last video.
@@TheBeardedGrump I have no doubt you will come out of this stronger and kicking. I'm proud of you and the progress you have made. I'm curious to see your next set of two wheels.
Cool is necessary. That's why all your bikes look so good isn't it? I am interested in how the windshield extension works for you. Beautiful day for a ride it appeared.
It was a fantastic day to ride, I almost stayed home, I'm glad I got off my big rear. Cool beats out fast every time the older we get. The past two V1000/1050 took a lot of cleaning from sitting and no loving ... I'll keep you posted on the wing thing. Another few hours on the I-10 and I'd be having coffee with you.
THE MIGHTY VERBAL WIDGET !!!!! - You are sooooo correct - The smell of the desert after a rain is just off the charts !!!! Mainly because of the "greasewood" I think - just love it !!!!! "WATCH FOR CATTLE - EVEN IN WALMART" !!!! LMFAO !!!!! 🙂
OBI-WAN!! Only a true AZ desert 🏜️ rat understands the magic of the desert after a rain. Just enjoying life as it passes buy, you don’t need a $$$ bike, I had just as much fun on the KLR a few weeks earlier. Having a hoot 🦉 Thanks for watching.
Where are the clouds? No rain? 🤣 I like the windshield extension. Looks better than my Givi Air Flow. I recognize that section of I-10W, although it was always busier when I drove it. Do you have a bad power cord to your Garmin? Vibration could cause an open in the cord intermittently making your Garmin want to shut off. The 1050 gets outstanding gas mileage. Usually 10%+ better than the 1000.
I have tried different power chords and motorcycles, and the GPS still freaks out. To be fair I've been divorced 6 years and had it 3-4 years before that, and it took some good soakings in the rain on my coast-to-coast trip this year. I'm surprised it still works Velcroed to my phone holder. 🤣 I think another car gps will be fine, I've read mixed reviews on the motorcycle gps. I just need to know where food, gas and hotel are usually in that order. I'm surprised of the smoothness and quietness over the V1000, I haven't checked mileage yet because I just figured out how to use the trip meter.🙄🙄
@@verbalwidget7267 I use a Garmin Zumo XT. I consider it an emergency direction device and like it mostly for the larger display than my phone for showing curves on unknown roads. In general I’m not a fan of Garmin because they aren’t intuitive to use. It requires more effort than I have patience for. Google Maps works well, but you need to remember to download the maps so it works when out of cell range.
Absolutely no place smells as good as the desert after a rain! The chaparral/creosote is key I believe. My '83 R80ST had a mechanical throttle lock (thumb screw). It was the bee's knees for cruising. lol Thanks for the vid VW!
I think that you are correct on the desert aroma mixture, when I rode dirt bikes it was also amazing the instant traction you had too. My Tenere T700 had the mechanical throttle lock and I'm happy with those to give the throttle had a break, but this fancy cruise is growing on me. The V1050 is so smooth and quiet.
VW- interested in your feedback of the difference in the (2?) 2014 1000 to 2020 1050. You also had a gen 1 1000? Did you get your Klim jacket? You'll need a dealer license soon!
Well that’s a video in itself … it’s been a crazy year for me going through bikes, good thing is I have purchased them right, so when I flip them I make a profit. I never had a Gen1 V1000, just a gen1 V650. Once the black V1000 goes I’m good with the V1050.
Loving life on the 1050! Beautiful ride!
Thanks DOC1050. 🤣 I’m really liking the big blonde. Fricken smooth and sooo quiet.

Cruise dependant... I resemble that remark Dave! - Frank
Oh ... I have no idea you were a cruise dependent guy.🤣😂It is growing on me when I remember that I have it. hard to train those old KLR pilots.

It's so beautiful out there. Sounds like you're liking the 1050 so far.
