April Morning Lexington Green

  • What had US founding fathers learned during The Enlightenment that enabled them to disregard Romans 13 and Ephesians 6:5?
    At dawn on the 19th of April 1775, some 700 British troops arrived in Lexington and came upon 77 militiamen gathered on the town green.
    After the engagement on Lexington green... the Regulars continued on to Concord to search for arms, unaware that most had already been relocated. In the attempt to burn what little they had found, the fire got out of control and those militia on higher ground outside Concord believed it was the Regulars intent to torch the entire town.
    In response to this perceived threat, the militia moved to Concord’s North Bridge, defended by a contingent of British soldiers. There the British fired first, for certain, but then fell back when the colonists returned fire.
    By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
    Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
    Here once the embattled farmers stood
    And fired the shot heard round the world.
    The foe long since in silence slept;
    Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
    And Time the ruined bridge has swept
    Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.
    On this green bank, by this soft stream,
    We set today a votive stone;
    That memory may their deed redeem,
    When, like our sires, our sons are gone.
    Spirit, that made those heroes dare
    To die, and leave their children free,
    Bid Time and Nature gently spare
    The shaft we raise to them and thee.

    Quote from The New American Bible for Catholics Romans Ch.13 fn 13,13 regarding people who could not wait for nighttime to do their evil "........Paul says that Christians claim to be people of the "New Day" (enlightenment) that will dawn with the return of Christ. Instead of planning for nighttime behavior, they should be concentrating on conduct that is consonant with avowed interest in the Lord's return."
    Keep in mind that Paul was expecting the return of Christ almost immediately. To build shelters as if a nuclear war was about to begin. He was trying to prepare people for the imediate return of the Judgment day. It appears Paul may have misjudged God's patience.

      David, using Vaticinium Ex Eventu... the ministry of Jesus is back-dated 40 years (one generation) from the 70 CE Siege of Jerusalem to 30 CE.
      This is clearly given away in Mark 9:1 Matthew 16:28 and Luke 9:27.
      Titus son of Vespasian is the son (not in the line of David) proposed in Mark 12:35-37.
      The Jesuits appear to be aware of this... but they are not openly sharing it with the hoi polloi.
      Why would they not share this obvious information more widely.

      I honestly don't know. But I would think there answer is out there after 2000 years. The fathers of the church, i.e. Aquinas, Augustine ect. must have thought of these things, but I don't have the answers. You seem very knowledgeable about the history of the church, someday soon I'd like to discuss questions like this with you while I'm having a cigar on a large leather chair. Soon I hope.@@TomOwensUAP
