Those toppers look familiar! 😉
Great video!
Cheers, JP! I was considering upgrading to the Sonicake metallic ones but couldn't justify paying £30+ for them at the minute. We'll see how these ones play out for a bit first!
Great stuff mate. I’m loving them. Please keep em coming 🙏🏽😃👍🏽🎤🎸
Cheers, Mat!
thank you for your excellent videos my friend.
I really enjoy watching your videos.
I learn a lot from your videos.
good continuity
thanks again
You're very welcome, Pierre. Thank you for your kind words.
By the way. If you'd like to use this setup without the actual USB cable setup (I hate cables to iPad setups, but that's just personal preference...) what you could do is go for a bluetooth midi device (like YAMAHA etc.) and connect it directly to your iPad via sheet music software or Midimittr. I use this setup with my travel keyboard and its great, latency is far below noticable
Already bought one! Not the Yamaha, just a cheap option but does the trick!
You are a Godsend.
I know nothing about MIDI but recently decided to utilize the MIDI capabilities of my pedals using Songbook Pro. Line 6 Helix LT, Boss VE-500, and Singular Sound Beat Buddy.
It's been an overwhelming chaotic mess trying to find anyone to explain how to do this.
What a wonderful thing to have Songbook Pro automatically set up all your MIDI pedals for each song you go to.
Have you any knowledge or experience with using a Bluetooth MIDI connection with your tablet and pedals?
Glad to be of service! Yeah, it's a lot to take in at first, but once you get your head around things, it's a fantastic tool to use, and to get the most out of your gear.
I recently bought myself a wireless MIDI adapter which is great to send and receive information without the need to have a physical connection. My latest video demonstrates what it's all about, and I'm just about to upload a new one, talking through exactly how to set this up with the RC-600. So stay tuned for that if its of interest!

Thank you again Ross.
My pleasure!
@@RossGallagherMusic This can save me two assigns in i.ex TouchOSC or other midi controller.
@@czes100 fantastic news!
Ross…. Can you give a demonstration of how you are using songbook pro with the rc600 and sampletank..
What is sampletank doing? Playing midi tracks from what sequencer?
Hi Jeff, I'm not currently using Sampletank with SongbookPro.
Hi , I’m trying to do the same with my Boss RC 5 , I managed to get the Boss RC5 recognized as an external MIDI device on the Songbook Pro, however I don’t know which settings to use on the RC5 . Thanks Ray
Hello Ross,
Thanks for the video. I love Songbook pro and have been using it for a while now, but I've only just gotten into MIDI.
I bought the new CME Widi-Thru 6 and the Bluetooth transmission works great with it!
However, I would like to transmit different MIDI program change numbers on different MIDI channels at the same time.
Do you have a solution for this...?
Best regards from Germany
Chris
Hi Chris, thank you so much for your message and I'm glad you've found the video useful. To answer your question, Songbook Pro is quite limited when it comes to sending MIDI information and I don't think it's currently possible to send multiple MIDI commands at the same time. I know this is possible using OnSong, however I don't use OnSong anymore simply because it was very glitchy and Songbook Pro does everything I need in a much user friendly way. Perhaps they will look at making this possible in a future update.
Sorry I can't be of anymore help.
Ross
Hi, thank you very much for your videos. They really help me to understand the RC600. I've just bought my RC600 and when I try to send MIDI commands from my iPad with SONGBOOK PRO via USB to the RC600 the iPad always ask me for a Bluetooth connection, Is it ok this? I thought it would work just with the USB connection. Thank you very much in advance.;)
Hey, thanks so much for your comment. I'm glad you're finding the content useful. Regarding your question, you shouldn't need to use Bluetooth to connect to the RC-600 if using a physical USB connection. I sometimes send MIDI commands using a wireless MIDI setup, and I use another app called Midimittr to allow the iPad to connect to the RC. Hope this helps.
1st, thank you. Please help me. I'm hooking up the rc 600 to a Android tablet that has song book pro on it. I've hooked up 2 cables. 1 to rc, the other to the tablet using a female to female adaptor. Go though the steps on the tablet, picked a song, etc, etc. it searches to connect with the midi, it says can't find device. On the rc you said to use under menu, midi and that's what I've done. Looking around I clicked on USB it says storage off. I'm afraid to turn that and and lose all the songs I've done. You are so knowledgeable. I'm an old dog trying to learn new tricks
Great video mate, thank you! 🙌🏻 Might sound like a dumb question BUT are you pre-recording each tracks on the Rc600 (in single mode maybe?) and then that’s what will load as part of the song selection? Just trying to understand what full benefits you’d get from following this guide that’s all. Thank you! 😊🙏🏻
It's a good question to ask mate. I don't personally pre-record much anymore but the reason I tend to do it this way is because I have some memories with slightly different settings, EQ, FX, etc. Some are really simple if I'm just using a couple of tracks and others are a bit more in depth so it's good to be able to have each one load up using the lyrics sheets in SongbookPro. Does that answer your question? Cheers, Ross
@@RossGallagherMusic ahhh i see! That makes perfect sense and definitely sounds really useful to be switching between different presets etc! Thank you for the response, much appreciated sir! 🙌🏻
Hey Ross, great video!
QUESTION: I do a solo act using a Roland GR-55, a Boss GP-10, a Boss DR-880 Drum machine(for patterns only, not songs), and TC Helicon Vocal harmonizer....Would this be able to switch ALL of these? THAT would REALLY make my life SOOOO much easier!
Hey Dave, thank you for your comment! Are you thinking of getting an RC-600 to replace all of those pedals in your current set up? The RC-600 is obviously capable of many things and if we spend enough time delving into its capabilities, then it can certainly help to reduce the amount of external pedals one might need. However, I can't say I know many people who go out solely with the RC-600 and have at least 1 or 2 other pedals to use in their setup. Hope this helps. Ross
@@RossGallagherMusic Thanks for the reply Ross! I do a rather unique solo show based totally around the Gr-55.
The GR-55 is capable of playing many instruments, from saxes, flutes violins, horns and hundreds more. On each patch number you can have 2 different instrument banks, say horns, on one synth bank and grand piano on the other, plus one guitar or bass model on the modeling section. I don't do any looping at all, I actually play everything live. I might have say piano controlled by the volume pedal assigned to all of the strings, but flute or horns just assigned to the high E & B strings for embellishments. Plus, I'll have bass assigned to just the low E & A strings. I use a finger style technique to create the sound of a full band with very authentic sounding instruments, but all played live.
The problem is changing to the needed patches quickly. I already use SongBook, but I just don't know how to connect all of these NON-bluetooth devices to SongBook. Any thoughts on this would be REALLY appreciated because I know NOTHING about midi. Thanks again.
Thanks for posting! Did you look at or consider OnSong as an alternative? Both apps claim they support MIDI.
I did use OnSong a while back but have found the recent update quite glitchy, so tend to stick with SongbookPro these days.
Heey, where did you buy rubber attachments on your foot tracks (1-9)?
They're the Sonicake pedal toppers and I've left a couple of links in the description on this video...
ua-cam.com/video/E6pZYnJw10I/v-deo.html
I am having serious problems with Songbook Pro on an iPad Pro. The lengths of ALL of my songs (sample and imported) are indicated as 14:39, and creeping up by a second or every half minute or so - as I write this they're now at 14:44. I changed the tempo/song time to the correct parameters under "Advanced", tried uninstalling/reinstalling, and sent a couple messages to their support team (no reply so apparently nonexistent). The result is that the song doesn't scroll, which means I'm back to Ultimate Guitar. I realize your video is not about the app by itself, but hesitate to work with it in concert with the RC-600 based on what seems like a huge bug.
Very strange, I've not experienced that issue myself but would be interested to see if anybody else is having the same problem.
Thanks Ross, will let you know if I find a resolution.
Thank for this video! I have a question for you: Is it possible to change memories via program change messages while playing without stop in music flow? For example: Verse in memory 1, refrain in memory2 and bridge in memory3. CHange from verse to refrain to bridge sending PC 0/1/2 with no stop in music? Thank you in advance!
I believe it is possible to move between memories and have the rhythm automatically play, provided it is turned on of course. You could also save a pedal to 'write' to memory before switching, in order to move back to a 'verse' or 'chorus' section if needed. Hope this helps.
Hello Ross real useful your videos. Thank you a lot. I wanted to ask if is possible to connect my boss rc 600 with a device android(phone) wireless way and how i could do that. Thanks
Glad you've found the videos useful. I've not actually tried it with my android, but I would think that it possible to send midi commands for example. Although, I have only ever done this using my iPad and wireless midi adapter going into the back of the RC.
@@RossGallagherMusic Thank you 🙂
1st thank you for sharing your info with everyone. 2nd. can I use this setup with song pro as I am already hooked up a drum pad through the midi input on the RC 600? I know I'm using a different input but didn't know if it will mess up the drum pad or vica versa.
A question.
Can we do the opposite?
Or send a midi message from a DAW to recall the lyrics associated with a certain song?
Thanks for the reply.
Not something I've tried to do myself, but according to SongbookPro, the app is capable of sending and receiving MIDI messages, so I don't see why not. Good luck!

Does the usb midi cable charge your tablet at the same time? I ise a Bluetooth pedal for my setlist and also connect to my rack for iem monitor mix through wifi so it drains the battery quickly if I don't have it plugged in
The USB cable won't charge the tablet at the same time, but on the lightning to USB adapter, there is a port for a USB-C, which means you could charge the tablet that way. Hope this helps. Ross
hi - great vid - But I'm getting a 'midi failed to start' red warning - is midi only accessible via 'full' version - I currently use unsung but was thinking of jumping ship....
I'm afraid I'm not sure on that one. I would think that you may need the full version to access all features. I highly recommend this app over Onsong though. I used to really like Onsong before it got too 'buggy', but in all honesty, I've never had an issue with SongbookPro. Best of luck!
@@RossGallagherMusic did buy ... but I think the missing link was turning on bluetooth in iOS prefs.. although not going to be using Bluetooth it would appear that once I had allowed that for songbook the warning went away and the app started scanning for Midi devices so..... Result. I love the simplicity of your explanation - especially the midi numbering -1 .... i guess that has had many people stumped over the years and you will have helped endless lost souls. i've never had a prob with onsung but there new 'structure is not for me. You've helped convert me with your vid - thanks again!
Does this mean that it may be possible to send midi commands from songbook pro to other midi capable guitar pedals. Like a Strymon pedal for example?
I'd say that's a very strong possibility, although I'm not 100% sure I'm afraid.
@@RossGallagherMusic i plugged it into my strymon deco and it worked!
