The short answer is no, you don't need to buy another barcode. You should be able to buy a prefix under the same account and associate both the single and the prefix with your company. However, it would be best to open up a support ticket with GS1 to be sure.
We purchased a lot of barcodes from a 3rd party seller years ago. When I go to GS1, I can see the barcodes listed under the name of the original owner. Is there a way to change the ownership of these barcodes to reflect our brand?
Hello Josie, I don't think this is possible. However, you could open a support case with GS1's very helpful team from your datahub dashboard and I'm sure they will get back to you.
