@Marav Reviews Monsters in Undertale are capable of absorbing a human soul, but because the souls of monsters are tied to their body, humans can't absorb the souls of monsters.
How evil and insane is Ghetsis in B2/W2? His team's anchor is a Hydreigon. A physical Hydreigon. A physical Hydreigon with a life orb. A physical Hydreigon with a life orb _with a maximum power Frustration._ His Hydreigon hates him.
Only beat his hydreigon by letting it kill itself, my team couldn't do shit so I just had to use revives all the time, let my mon get killed so he damages himself, then use the revived mon and repeat OOF
We're forgetting the fact that, after the N's Castle incident, Ghetsis sent the Shadow Triad to give us the Adamant, Lustrous, and Griseous orbs. So not only did he manipulate a child to awaken Reshiram/Zekrom, not only did he want to use Kyurem to freeze Unova, but he also planned to summon Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina after conquering Unova. This man just isn't content with having a whole region to himself. He wanted to rule the world. Absolute madlad.
And then upon getting Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina, he hears something from the skies and it appears to be Arceus telling him something, Arceus came forward and said: "Cyrus called, he wants his dragons back or you're losing your Kyurem privileges"
@@IndustrialParrot2816 he absolutely could’ve succeeded where Cyrus failed. I mean I think Cyrus dies after his plan fails, and ghetsis certainly could’ve caught wind of a shadow pokemon coming out and marking a evil team leader when he tried to control dialga and palkia. Plus, white kyurem (if that’s the canon version, I think it’s canon that N gets reshiram) would easily dispose of giratina.
The best thing about that is that it was apparently just a ploy to get the protagonist to leave for Sinnoh so he could complete his plan without there interference.
Apparently in the manga, N saves Ghetsis from falling out of the Plasma Frigate, saying he still loves him as a father. What does Ghetsis do as a response? *He calls N a monster and beats him until he's bleeding and unconscious.*

Compare this theme to his original battle theme. This one is all over the place, which is indicative of how batshit insane Ghetsis is! He's completely lost all remnants of lucidity and sanity at this point; he's just a ball of pure, unbridled, psychotic rage.
Also, check out his intro battle sprite. Granted only the B2W2 sprite is animated, but in BW he looks just plain evil. In B2W2, he literally SLAMS his cane into the cave floor and has to catch his breath for a few seconds. A nice touch is that after the battle, the cane is left there.
Giovanni: "Even though you are the enemy of my organization, I recognize your skill, and will reward you with the Earth Badge." 4 generations later Ghetsis: "Hold up let me impale this child real quick"
@Caitlyn Carvalho I consider them commentary on political extremism in general, their ideas are so weak that they are disproven to n just because he was exposed to the outside world
@Caitlyn Carvalho because if they were truly only animal rights activists their leader would have the incesntive of saving all pokemon, but he doesn’t. he wants everyone to give up their pokemon in order to rule over them all, while team plasma are useful idiots to him, they believe in the cause of freeing pokemon without knowing WHY they want to free them
@Caitlyn Carvalho I think N is genuine. Ghetsis is just a power-hungry would-be dictator who commandeered an actual discussion and movement and used it for his own ends.
Given how nuts ghetsis is, i have full reason to believe during this fight he was purposefully aiming for the player with each of his Pokémon's attacks
I can't stress how powerful this music is. You got someone insane in front of you who REALLY wants you dead, literally dead. And if you've beaten him at Black and White before, it feels like you need to go through him again, and he's not fuckin around this time...
I love Ghetsis’ portrayal in BW2. He’s so angry that he has to personally stop a ten year old from interfering with his plans AGAIN, that he fricking stabs his cane into the SOLID ROCK GROUND OF A CAVE in frustration. Love it.
@@semajniomet981 I believe you are correct, if I remember correctly Rosa and Nate(the player characters of BW2) are 15 as opposed to the standard 10 or 11. This is also because Rosa and Nate have actual lore behind them, specifically that Nate is part of the Unova Police Force, and Rosa is a former Plazma Grunt.
@@thelostician Hi hi hello, the actual protagonist of the game has nothing to do with the lore of the protagonist of the MANGA. Nate was never a international police, Lack-two was. Rosa was never a former Team plasma, Whit-two was. Despite looking similar they are NOT the same, the manga is unofficial to the game's lore. It is it's own lore in and of itself, thing's happened drastically differently in the manga. Edit: just realized you said Nate and Rosa was 15, even though Lack-two and Whit-two was 12, kinda find it funny you contridicted yourself in your own sentence.
I know, right? It's like they took all the parts of his theme in B/W and gave them to different musicians and told them "play it however you want" then put it together afterwards
@@chickoodle6307 there's a theory I like that the bw protag Hilbert/Hilda wasn't actually travelling to find n anymore but was actually murdered by ghetsis
Considering his weird condition pertaining to his right side, and the fact he seems to exert himself a bit more as well as use a cane in the second game...
I never actually realized how evil Ghetsis was! All those little hints that were right out in the open when I was younger completely went over my head! How Frustration was at max power, his Hydreigon hating his guts, how he went complete crazy and haywire, not caring about anything that comes after possibly killing a child! This really was the BOSS of all other bosses in the entire series, there's no arguing with that
I'm kind of surprised his Pokémon still obeyed him. Like... What did Ghetsis have that they needed to fear? Oh, a Poké Ball? The little capsule that Pokémon can refuse to enter if they don't want to? Idk, these things bother me sometimes
Ghetsis was really the most unhinged evil team leader. Although all the other ones had more ambitious goals, like Cyrus wanting to destroy the universe, at the end of the day he was just a nihilistic manchild that never grew out of his edgy phase. Ghetsis wasn't going to destroy the world but he was a psychopath and easily more insane than any other villain in the Pokemon games.
@@LS9646 looking back on it, I'm kinda wishing they did more with them plot-wise so that at least some of Plasma's views would actually be *somewhat* grounded in reality but doing so would mean making the Pokemon world a lot darker
The interesting thing is Ghetsis’s Hydreigon had maxed out Frustration, which only happens if your pokemon is at lowest friendship, which only happens if you just captured them or let them faint/ get poisoned alot. He never cared about pokemon on a moral level, wanted everyone else to give up on pokemon to give him more and more power.
The best part is that their characters and Pokemon fit very well together Unlike freaking Cyrus "Fuck all of the universe and Pokemon! Now fight my Crobat, a Pokemon that can only be obtained via high friendship!"
His Hydreigon be like: Trainer, I got a Flower for yo-- Ghetsis: SHUT UP BI**C! Hydreigon: I hate my life....ARRHHHGGG! Ghetsis who Retrieved his Hydreigon into its Pokeball: I should've imprisoned you when I had the chance. Poor Hydreigon...
@@thaiangquoc9505 Im pretty sure it was implied that Cyrus having a Crobat was either him being just as "guilty" of human emotions as he sees everybody else or that he simply manipulated his Crobat into thinking he cared.
In the first black and White Games, Ghetsis’s theme is loud Dramatic, and frightening. Signifying his imposing power and delusion of seeing himself as a god and above anyone else who gets in his way. In contrast Black and white 2 version sounds disorderly and intense. Some of the notes in the theme clash with each other and twisted up. Signifying Ghetsis’s Madness and grip on reality slipping away. After his defeat at the hands of a child last time, he’s enraged and desperate to win at any cost. He doesn’t just want his opponent beaten, he wants his opponent DEAD.
Just imagine if Kyurem hesitated to use Glaciate and Ghetsis was like "I KNOW DAMN WELL WHAT I SAID AND SO DO YOU!!!" And it turned out that Kyurem had better morals than Ghetsis.
I think that’s kind of implied by Kyurem being locked up in the Plasma Frigate; Hugh comments that if you don’t stop Ghetsis, “there’ll be more sad Pokemon like Purrloin and Kyurem”.
@@F1areon Yeah, it’s also heavily implied Ghetsis was controlling Kyurem himself with his cane. Kyurem is basically some husk creature born from the legendary Unova dragon separating, I doubt it naturally wants to kill things
@@ingridkaba587 I feel bad for him, just imagine being one of the reasons Unova was made and then the ones that you worked with argue and forces you to split, leading to you hiding in waiting for the day someone brings you back together, and you meet Ghetsis, the first human you have seen ever since you hid away, believing he came to bring back Reshiram and Zekrom for you to reunite your former power, but it turned out he just wants to manipulate you and you become a husk once again, and without hesitation because you are a mindless husk under the thumb of Ghetsis, and because of that, you nearly kill a child. If it ever went through, and Ghetsis was stopped, just imagine the unstoppable guilt Kyurem gets when he learns he is one of the reasons he killed someone, a child at worst.
I don't think Kyurem has emotions since its just a husk of its former self. Zekrom and Reshiram both had the bulk of emotions when they split off leaving Kyurem with nothing. It doesn't even have any pupils in its eyes, literally a robot that follows orders.
Thought I'd lay down some facts on the chanting in the song: The Japanese vocals in this don't line up with the localization of the name. Ghetsis' Japanese name is literally Gcis (gēchisu), from the pitch played by the timpani drums in his theme (G and Cis/C♯). They really are saying his name in the theme, but as with the rest of the music in the game, it's Japanese. The problem is that the Romanization (the process by which the Japanese text is put into the Latin/Roman alphabet) of his name is horribly corrupted, and throws out the etymology, except in the German version, where he is properly named G-Cis.
Ghetsis is one of the most underrated characters not only in Pokémon, but in all of gaming. His look in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 is so damn badass, even moreso than his look in the first games.
@@yeet8036Apparently, people hate Ghetsis because of how good of a villain he is. So do people love him or hate him?? Maybe both?? Eh, whatever. I don't care what anyone says. I love this old lettuce-haired monster of a human being. All hail Lord Ghetsis!!
I fucking love the distorted way Ghetsis name is chanted in this this theme. If sephiroth taught me anything, it is that shit is about to go down once they start chanting stuff in the background
I love this theme. It really gives you an ominous but dramatic feel of how Ghetsis has truly lost his mind and has gone 100% power hungry. Especially in the parts of the song where supposedly people of team plasma go: Ghetsis... Ghetsis... And in the beginning where it's like: DOOOO DOOT (Best representation xD)
TheoNintenderp what about Cyrus? As far as I know, Lusamine and him want everything for themselves as no one interferes in their ways. Lusamine wants to be Pokemon's mother (she wants the Pokemon only for herself) for that reason she used to despise Lillie and Gladion, and Cyrus using Dialga or Palkia's powers or both (Diamond, Pearl or Platinum) he wanted to create a whole world for him and become the only ruler and god. As you can see Lusamine and Cyrus are made for each other. I don't know about you.
You know this is a man with zero moral compass, nor does he even care for the very message his team stood for. He's just a narcissistic sociopath. This is proven between Black/White and Black 2 and White 2. In the original Black/White Ghetsis was made out as a religious prophet, a sage to serve the king, the liberator. The only reason he played this part is because it gave him influence in team plasma, and allowed him to get close to N. The only reason he followed the idea of liberation was to reduce the amount of trainers willing to oppose Team Plasma. Near the end of the main adventure, he abandoned his role as sage and assumed a God like stance, believing himself to be above all else, even the legendary pokemon whom he sought to control. You see in Black and White 2 that Ghetsis makes a complete 180 and turns his attention solely to science, to harness the destructive power of the legendary kyurem by means of man made technology. In this team he hadn't the need to serve, only to rule, since there was no religious or ceremonial guidelines binding him to servitude Yet when his revamped team crumbles around him. When his power over kyurem is relinquished. He reverts back to that same Aggressive, self proclaimed 'God' seen in the original. *He has no morals.* *He has no faith* *He has no empathy* *He has no shame* *Ghetsis is a monster among humans and pokemon alike.*
@@lo11163 Ghetsis wants you dead. Dead dead. He said in the Japanese version of B2W2 he literally wanted to Impale you. Lysander just wants everyone dead because stupid and shit. Ghetsis got the closest to ever killing you, (If N did not show up you would have ice in your heart and sticking out the other side of your body) while most others would kill the person no matter who it was, but they didn’t get the chance. Ghetsis wants you dead just because you remind him of a trainer 2 years ago. That’s called insanity.
This man is crazy. He toys with a child's mind(N). He buries Black in the manga by pushing him to reshiram and then Black was sucked into the light stone. He tried to kill the player in BW2 by using Kyurem. He slapped Lillie. He even thretenened to murder Lusamine. He froze northern Unova. He is a true criminal with an evil mind. . . . . I respect that evilness as no one else is that evil. (In the pokemon francise at least) Edit: I also forgot to mention that he tried to kill Ash using both reshiram and pikachu. It would have been great I don't like Ash. I don't know but its my opinion.
Forgot to mention that Frustration is an attack that gets powerful the more your Pokémon hates you. Ghetsis' Hydreigon in B2W2 has this move. At FULL POWER. Even Ghetsis' Pokémon hate him, since he probably treat them like shit
Yesn't. I think his character deserved to be fleshed out more, at least in the games, not sure about what he's like in the anime. I feel like the games don't do it justice giving him more character than "super bad guy who actually wants to murder you for real".
Yeah, this guy had the nerve to view *Giovanni* as a pawn in USUM, not to mention that his Hydreigon absolutely hates him. He was manipulative of N from the start, then when N turned he just full-on abused him. This guy was the most threatening of all the villains in the series.
@@ZoofyZoof I entirely disagree and think that Ghetsis as a character is amazingly written as a villain. Ghetsis is more than just a guy who wants you dead, he's a master manipulator. Of the public, N, and even fooling his own grunts that think they're fighting for a good reason. He's a control freak, especially over N, and overall a heartless monster. A lot of what makes Ghetsis good is the subtext, much like the Hydreigon that's often brought up having max hatred for its trainer and running a physical move centered around that, implying abuse. More than that he's terrifyingly wrathful, not afraid to hurt N or you the moment you get in his way. I think there's a lot to talk about when it comes to him and honestly stays the top tier villain for me.
@@moonlitwyvern6840 I think what he meant is that Ghetsis isn't very deep, per se. I agree that Ghetsis is one of the most evil and threatening villains in the entire franchise, but his character doesn't really extend beyond that. His motivation isn't really compelling (just to gain power if I'm not mistaken), which _would_ be fine if we knew more about his past or why he is like he is, but from what I remember we don't really get anything like that outside of a few tidbits from the triad and maybe the sages.
@@QuokkaWaka I in all honesty just do not agree. No other Villain has nearly as much substance as him. There isn’t anything compelling to be found in someone being greedy for power; thats not something most people can relate to. But his actions show he’s more than just Greedy, but insidious and smart. He was so dedicated to his goal that he socially manipulated N as a child into a teenager as a father figure, molding him exactly how he wanted him to be. He’s evil, but he’s not stupid. Like, Plasma had enough influence and power to make a castle rise up around the league. All the power he gained from being a master manipulator of peoples hearts. I just don’t think any other Villain is as well written as he is.
I like how this version gets STRAIGHT to the point and skips the intro of the first version, reflecting how Ghetsis drops his facade in the sequel and shows his true motives.
Dunno why everyone is saying Lusamine is worse than Ghetsis. 1. Lusamine was being controlled by a toxin that amplified her desires, and to the point where wanting to see Nihilego again was an evil desire. Poor Lusamine. PLUS, he didn’t care about you being alive or whatever. She’s not even hurting anyone. She just wants to be with Nihilego, but ONLY because the toxin amplified it for her. She isn’t actually bad, but people fail to realize this. 2. Ghetsis is literally trying to kill you. He was cocky in the first game, but then he remembered how he was foiled. He went insane after his loss and is now trying to rule Unova 2 years later and freezing the entire region over. He cares if your alive, but not about you. He abuses his flipping Pokémon when other team leaders actually care about their Pokémon. He is pissed, and he will brutally murder anybody in cold blood if they get in the way. He want’s everyone in the world to suffer under his rule. That’s why I like him more than the world destroyers like Cyrus and Lysandere. They thought what they were doing is right. Cyrus never truly wanted to hurt anyone, he wanted to destroy the world, and since he doesn’t want emotions, that means pain and sadness will also be erased. He probably didn’t know what he did was wrong. Then there’s Ghetsis, who wants to rule the world, making everyone FEEL pain and sadness, the absolute sadist he is.
Ghetsis's ace, Hydreigon, has a fucking MAXED POWER FRUSTRATION. His ace absolutely HATES Ghetsis. This is all you need to know to realise how insane Ghetsis is
The one thing that makes ghetsis a better villain than Cyrus to me, is that Cyrus implies he uses Pokémon as tools and doesn’t care, meanwhile there is evidence ghetsis truly doesn’t care about his Pokémon. Ghetsis is manipulative, even manipulating his own son and the people willing to follow him. (Also can I mention Cyrus has a Crobat which evolved through friendship, while ghetsis has a Hydreigon with max frustration)
Harmony: the combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce chords and chord progressions having a pleasing effect. Cacophony: a harsh, discordant mixture of sounds.
The fact that GF tried building Giovanni up as the most evil of the bunch in USUM is absolutely laughable. Who are they trying to fool here, that man is a fluffy bunny next to Ghetsis "Tried to freeze a child" Harmonia.

Ghetsis’s theme in BW is that of a supergiant star: immense, overpowering, awe-inspiring - but hinting at instability underneath. Ghetsis’s theme in BW2 is that of the supergiant while it’s going supernova: wildly losing control, spewing destruction at anything unlucky to be near it.
I imagine my Samurrot and Lucario dying to it. Lucky me, my Leavanny dodged a Fire Blast and done a good chunk of HP with X Scissor before falling... ...I think..
Game freak: We need a new theme for Ghetsis, any Ideas? Random employee: How about “Ghetsis. Ghetsis. GHETSIS. GHETSIS!!! AAAAAAHHHHH AAAAHHHHH AAAAHHHH!” Game freak: Genius!
Ghetsis' Theme is always amazing. The percussions and the choir in the background make you feel fighting a strong final boss. Also he's one of the best villains of the Pokémon franchise
i mean, yeah. team plasma is a confirmed metaphor for fascism. the whole holding one demographic (pokemon) over the other (people) while wanting to form an ultra authoritarian regime
Knowing the fact that he'd manipulate a child for his whole life and also turned a pokemon into machine just to get power i doubt he wouldn't try his hand in some sort of early evolution manipulation sciene
it's theorized that zweilous evolves when one head becomes clearly dominant, and that ghetsis literally fucking DECAPITATED his zweilous to make it evolve sooner
Probably the most intimidating song in the series. I fear every member of Ghetsis’s team in all the games he appears in especially his Bouffalant, Eelektross and Hydreigon. But the main reason I’m scared of Ghetsis and his Pokémon is because he doesn’t care about them, he only uses them as slaves. That’s pure evil! At least all the other evil team leaders care about their Pokémon and actually raise them properly.
there’s quite a lot of dark implications that come with Hydreigon’s maxed out Frustration, like Ghetsis’ eyepatch and discoloured right arm, or even the fact that the hydreigon is way underleveled. it’s not hard to imagine what that dragon (and very probably the rest of the team) has been through, which is just sad
Wow. That’s sad and messed up. Hydreigon is already a monster so think about how messed up it’s mind would be if it was abused and mistreated by it’s trainer. That’s why all my Pokémon have max friendship.
Pale 981 same, I think it’s really important to have your pokémon love you as much as you love them (that, and Return has 102 max base power and 20 PP, which is nice) if this is true, it’s really awful, and yeah it would severely affect Hydreigon, I feel bad for it

The dissonance in the choir, the intense guitar immediately followed by the piano runs, and the crazy percussion all make this theme so utterly chaotic. I love it. (I'm not good at music theory and stuff so I might be completely off base here lol)

Compare this theme to his original battle theme. This one is all over the place, which is indicative of how batshit insane Ghetsis is! He's completely lost all remnants of lucidity and sanity at this point; he's just a ball of pure, unbridled, psychotic rage.
Tedmeister, I 100% agree with that. He is pretty much a raging asshole in B2/W2.

And his BW2 theme is so much more intense, coz this time Ghetsis is literally trying to kill you instead of just beat you

@@semajniomet981 I believe you are correct, if I remember correctly Rosa and Nate(the player characters of BW2) are 15 as opposed to the standard 10 or 11. I never actually realized how evil Ghetsis was! All those little hints that were right out in the open when I was younger completely went over my head! How Frustration was at max power, his Hydreigon hating his guts, how he went complete crazy and haywire, not caring about anything that comes after possibly killing a child! This really was the BOSS of all other bosses in the entire series, there's no arguing with that
I also heard that he also lost his arm cause of his hydreigon
I'm kind of surprised his Pokémon still obeyed him. Like... What did Ghetsis have that they needed to fear? Oh, a Poké Ball? The little capsule that Pokémon can refuse to enter if they don't want to? Idk, these things bother me sometimes
Ghetsis was really the most unhinged evil team leader. Although all the other ones had more ambitious goals, like Cyrus wanting to destroy the universe, at the end of the day he was just a nihilistic manchild that never grew out of his edgy phase.

Thought I'd lay down some facts on the chanting in the song:
The Japanese vocals in this don't line up with the localization of the name.

In this team he hadn't the need to serve, only to rule, since there was no religious or ceremonial guidelines binding him to servitude
Yet when his revamped team crumbles around him. When his power over kyurem is relinquished. He reverts back to that same Aggressive, self proclaimed 'God' seen in the original.

@@moonlitwyvern6840
I think what he meant is that Ghetsis isn't very deep, per se.

Yes

Ghetsis:
Now that’s a good theme guys
Well, the guy's off his rocker insane, is the leader of a cult, basically. I'd say it fits.
Ghetsis' Theme is always amazing. The percussions and the choir in the background make you feel fighting a strong final boss. Also he's one of the best villains of the Pokémon franchise
VS Pokemon Hitler.
The Hitler Pokemon trainer is Lysandre
Yeah thats America now doom camp
i mean, yeah. team plasma is a confirmed metaphor for fascism. the whole holding one demographic (pokemon) over the other (people) while wanting to form an ultra authoritarian regime
Ghetsis is Palpatine

(If you get this joke, you deserve a veteran discount)
ghetsis' hydreigon is level 52 yet hydreigon's supposed to evolve at 64
good lord what sort of torture did this man do to his pokemon
Doesn't his Hydreigon know frustration too? It literally hates him. What kind of stuff is he doing geez

@@Gabs-bags frustration for not giving it "special" attention
Knowing the fact that he'd manipulate a child for his whole life and also turned a pokemon into machine just to get power i doubt he wouldn't try his hand in some sort of early evolution manipulation sciene

Pokemon Black/White 2: a game where a child uses his pets to stop isis and become the leader of the state of New York.
Pokemon bw: a game where a kid watches a champion area get destoryed by stairs and catch some dragons and dogs
So jojo part 7 but you are Diego.
And also working as a movie star
Actually, we should get an Oscar for those movies
Pale 981 same, I think it’s really important to have your pokémon love you as much as you love them (that, and Return has 102 max base power and 20 PP, which is nice)
if this is true, it’s really awful, and yeah it would severely affect Hydreigon, I feel bad for it
Nope, it's def next to Champion Cynthia's theme *shudders*
@pale9819 the only reason that hydreigon obeys Ghetsis is because it's genuinely SCARED of him

honestly the coolest bit of lore in the pokemon series for me is the fact that ghetsis' hydreigon has minimum happiness and how that may correlate to it's held life orb and ghetsis' missing eye
This is the only human pokemon villain that I think is just pure evil. He has no respect for pokemon, all he wants is power and he will do anything for it

I love how much more discordant and off-balanced this sounds. It truly emphasizes how far off the deep end Ghetsis has gone. It goes from sounding angry in BW to sound maniacal and insane in BW2

Ghetis is the only Villiant in pokemon that make me feel angry. He's not only try decive N to think him special, hypcrise about release pokemon to then later capture them. He even go that far to going to kill a kid.
Not just my pokemon feel angry, I am too.
Something interesting about Ghetsis is his right arm looks frost bitten in the cutscene where N is crowned, meaning he probably tried to capture Kyurem before even black and white.
