  • We take a closer look at the new Elefant kit from Zvezda. Plastic is molded in 1/35 scale and should be interesting for those who would like to build big tank destroyer.

For those that don't want to spend a lot of money on Japanese plastic. 😊👍🏾
Zvezda is the ish yo. I just received this kit from Lithuania.
Equal and even better quality than Dragon, Tamiya, Meng..

I had some higher hope for this kit, the Ferdinand kit showed some modularity with its sprue design and on their Panzer IV they showed that they are able to do some nice molded Zimerit. Kind of disappointed with the decal solution for the Zimerit. My hope was a additional sprue to replace the uncoated parts. They didn't blow their competition out of the water this time. Nevertheless, it will be a easy to built kit with good fitting parts, like the Ferdinand was. Thank you very much for showing.

Why though? Additional sprue would add to price, while decals can be easily replaced with something different. We all know that Zvezda is not targeted on Professional modelers in full sense of that word. :)

There were not many kits out there for the Ferdinand/Elefant aside from the somewhat dated Dragon ones. Ok, Italeri having very old molds for the Elefant and Amusing Hobby lately released a Ferdi and a Training Tiger too, as far as I'm aware. Zvezda brining out their Ferdinand was like a small light in the dark back then, they have the original in reach and they nailed it. The Kit had all the modularity sparking the Idea in me: "They are going for the full series". And their Zimmerit on the Panzer IV H is great too - not complete but still great. Putting one and one together I was just hoping for some molded Zimmerit like Dragon did with their new series. Still no bad feelings from my side against Zvezda, just a little disappointment. I do not see why they are not targeting all types of scale modlers with their newer products. We always find what we are looking for, errors as well as good fun ; )

Well, at least they got the rear bolt pattern correct, even Dragon screwed that up heheh. And a one piece barrel. No treadplate pattern on the fenders. The mesh is installed on the rear. Good review, sorry for sounding like a Rivet counter but the fenders are a pretty obvious omission. I guess you could buy an Aber set of treadplate. thanks for posting!

Thank you! Well, I guess such kit begs for more aftermarket added, in a good sense :D
