I'm a self taught skater for over 6 years now and I'm happy to learn more technical skills. I've always known how to "sit", crossover (only on my left turns lol) and just skate. But in the last 2 years I'm trying to undo my bad habits and learn more tricks🤗
Very nice Video! I think for beginners it's a really good learning source. Also the tipps with learning both sides/directions and watching over both shoulders is really important and helpful!
Excellent tutorial 👍👍 It's major encouraging to hear a skater of your amazing ability struggles with backwards crossovers in one direction! Makes me feel waaaayyyy better 😉😝
Thanks Brandon. I was trying to explain how to do this to my son over the phone the other day. I'm sending him some skates and he has the starter basics down. I'll make sure to link him some of your videos when his new skates arrive. Also quad skaters were doing crossovers before inline skaters. I learnt crossovers on quads before I knew rollerblades existed... probably before they actually existed, I'm getting old :P
Thanks very much for explaining the motion and how to start on it barefoot n in grass..u got a great way of making everything clear. I was searching for vids on crossover but none seems to pin down the logic..
….. I should have watched this before trying it. I can do great crossovers now but I still can’t get them backwards and when I tried the forwards crossovers, I just…. Did it. I didn’t watch tutorials and just did it. I fell…. A lot. But survival mode helped- I also got a new scar! 😓
man your tutorials fckn rock. I go through even the basic stuff I've learned years ago and I always have a feeling that doing this with your advice really perfects technique! thanks dood xoxo
Hi Brandon Im finding my crossovers are very messy. I feel like I cross over to fast and my wheels when they do begin to cross over kind of touch the surface and than I loose my balance and wobble . At this point im going at a regular jogging pace. Other ttimes my speed is quite good but I purposly make the crossover slow eventhough my speed is quite fast and that happens but than I loose balance. Confused any tips would be appreciated
The best way to learn that is just to practice. It'd be the same steps that are in my how to rollerblade backwards video. Just focusing on the opposite shoulder. It just takes practice, I don't think there's any easy way sadly. I'll make a video if I discover any easier ways.
I have exactly the same problem. Couldn't figure out why crossing over to the right was so uncomfortable until I went back to the rink after a decade long break.
I agree that it’s scary! I learned how to do it yesterday because I was feeling risky enough, luckily I was able to learn without falling over! 😁 Happy skating!

I can only cross to my left as well !
@@skateforleisure i think it's bc it's easier to do left crosses lol
i think i have found my new rollerblading teacher
Great teachings, Brandon! Crossovers are a crucial skills for all those looking to become a rampaging city skater. Skate safe!
I always watch these even if I think I've mastered the skill, because you always remind me that there are holes in my repertoire.
Thank you so much for the support!
Glad someone told you you have holes and not good yet lol

I wondered if it was a Quad Skates thing too. Thanks for watching and linking! hopefully these help him in some way.
@@BrandonDrummond Thanks for creating awesome blading videos mate. You keep making them and I'll keep watching and sharing them!

Thank u for sharing your skills bro. im a intermediate skaters it helps a lot..,
I think this will help me a lot since im getting roller blades for my bday
Muito obrigado! Excelente vídeo!
I was told that this was a beginner friendly turning method. This seems a lot more challenging than simply leaning
Another great tutorial! Subbed!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the support!
I'll hopefully have another tutorial up in a few weeks
_Looking forward to my blader news mug and skeleton tee arriving in the not too distant future, so I can represent!_ ✌️
They shouldn't be far off now. Thanks so much for the support man! Love the badge too 😉
Im so bad at this doing this to the left its driving me nuts. Guess i just gotta suck it up and try untill i can do it :D
I am exactly the same. Especially going backwards 😅
That's the best way to learn! Eventually it'll be easy. Thanks for watching!

This is by far the hardest for me to get.
I have on break on the bac of one skate. So one skate is longer than the other. Feels like I can only do it one direction cause of that
Same hopefully that's not the case cause I would probably die without that brake lmao
Can you do one about looking over both shoulders fakie
The best way to learn that is just to practice. It'd be the same steps that are in my how to rollerblade backwards video. Just focusing on the opposite shoulder. It just takes practice, I don't think there's any easy way sadly. I'll make a video if I discover any easier ways.
Hey Brandon, hope you’re doing well. What are good in lines for a beginner who wants to do rink and outdoor skating? Thanks :)
I did it on my 5th try l am a faster learner btw
The thing is since i mostly skate at the skating rink I can do crossovers to the left but I struggle doing them to the right 😂🤭
It feels so unco to do them opposite😆. With practice that should change though.
I have exactly the same problem. Couldn't figure out why crossing over to the right was so uncomfortable until I went back to the rink after a decade long break.
Me: goes to dollar store to get some street chalk 😏
Also me; liked & subscribed!
Have fun & thank you so much 🙏
@@BrandonDrummond thank ub for your videos! Very inspiring! Plus u kick sssss sk8n!!!
can you do this if you're using a break on one of your skates?
Yep, you'll just only be able to do it with your break foot in the back.
Yes you can do cross overs with a brake. Slightly "harder" as your foot is "longer" so you have to step a little higher.
What type of blades do you have?🥸
I have some freeskates. They Micro MT Plus skates. I highly recommend them !
Crossovers are big in hockey
What skates are they?
Micro Mt Plus. My favorite skates to ride.
It’s funny that I watch your video and it looks so easy. But once I put my skates and try.....it is the scariest thing ever😂
😆 It'll be easy in no time. Keep at it. Good luck man!
@@BrandonDrummond Thank you. I’m looking forward to watching your videos and thanks again for sharing your tutorials and keep up the awesome vids.

If it helps any one, pay attention to your shoulders too.
Brandon!!!!They have crossovers on ice skates!!!!!! They are called cross cuts.Man!!!
I believe crossovers come from ice hockey.
.
I’m a fat guy so I imagine it’s impossible for me to do a crossover
