- Very spur of the moment jam-through of my yet officially unrecorded and unreleased 8 minute sonic odyssey 'As Winter Draws Nigh'.
I was practicing through a few new songs, and happened to be recording on my very archaic Lenovo tablet with the intention to listen back after and check how things were flowing. I really like how this one in particular is coming along gradually, after years maturing like a fine wine in the composition vault. I feel the energy I put into this version quite strongly, so I decided I'd share it with the world. I'm starting to learn that if it feels right, just go for it.
I guess I'd better book some studio time in.
This piece of sound poetry is an homage to the years I've spent, and we as artists spend, locked away alone, transmuting sorrow, grief, pain and trauma. It's all about plunging the depths, choosing the path most people run in the opposite direction from.
And then we resurface, with the battle scars of a hero who's died a thousand deaths. We re-emerge from the abyss, carrying diamonds that could only ever be forged through unimaginable pressure.

Hey man!Glad you enjoyed this one. I'll be recording it properly in the studio soon. The best way to start is to listen to music you love, and let it inspire you to start the journey. Maybe start by learning a few riffs from your favourite songs, then play around with creating your own ideas when you get a feel for it. Just have fun with it, that's all that matters! The more you enjoy it, the easier it gets :)
