i can remember walking past bushes glowing with hundeds of glow worms.....oh my heart is so sad at the eco collapse.....so sad........my world destroyed by pointless consumer/materialism......too many people with no care........no love....
All of our insects are low in numbers here in Staffordshire, I'm putting it down to the very wet and windy Winter and Spring, the oak woodland down my garden was under water for a long time, the stream was like a river, the fields drenched, the bridleways liquid mud. Anyway Trevor great video thank you.
Yes we do Glenda. My late wife and I monitored our local colony and others in Nottinghamshire from 2008. I don't go up so often nowadays, but I like to keep my eye in and still run the Nottinghamshire Glow Worm Survey. They're brilliant things.
Ive hardly managed to get out at all this season. The few nights I have been out theres hardly been any glow worms. I just assumed lots of males were around. The one female I got close to had 2 males on her. Im going to have to wait till next year now to check properly. Fingers crossed I can get a few videos for UA-cam this year before it gets too late.
I hope so Jenny. Shame you haven't been able to get out on the Orme much this year. Main thing though, is that you are alright, which I truly hope you are x
@@theramblingentomologist Sorry I didn't reply! Only just seen this. I'm just about getting by! Those bloody seals take up a lot of my life now. People assume they're my passion, and I'm not even that intersted in seals. There's just nobody else out there helping them so I felt like I had no choice! At least they make me bits of money here and there from the videos. Either I picked the worst nights to go out looking for glow worms, or there's not many around this year. I'll never know. Hopefully I can do a lot more with the glow worms next year. Your channel is doing so well. I told you yours was a good one and would be popular. There's only a small percentage of UA-camrs who actually get monetized. With the volume of content you have you could even make extra channels. Viral hog is worth looking into aswell. I signed seal videos over to them and had payments coming from one video alone that added up to over £500. I had to wait 90 days for the first payment, and the total has to be over $75 to pay out. I think any bad reviews they have are from people who have one off videos that haven't done well and they can't do much with. Luckily I have endless seal videos. Also people complain about the 50/50 money split. That £500 I got was much better than the pennies I was earning for the video on UA-cam. It's definitely worth doing if you need a bit of extra cash now and then. I could do more with the seal videos and be earning a lot more money, but there's not enough hours in the day. I hope you're enjoying your retirement!
Hi Jenny and lovely to hear from you. Thanks for the Viral Hog advice. Sounds like it could be potentially useful, so I'll have a look into it. And I can promise you that I am indeed, enjoying my retirement 😀 It's not much different to what I've done the past few years, but it's nice to have so much free time, free from a lot of worries. You take care.
All I've got is a jelly baby and it's not having it 😄
And it didn't get it 😂😂

Very true Andy.

Agree with what you say Steve. It's largely down to the very wet weather/conditions from last Autumn, through the Winter and this Spring.
Wow,spectacular Video- did not know we had gloworms in the uk 😮🙌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Well captured. A true thrill !
