You do know that female bettas are just as aggressive as males and keeping them together is as bad as keeping males in one tank?? As a vet student who had seen the disaster of a sorority crashing, it’s sad to see people keep females together when they will fight just as badly.
I worked in a freshwater breeding room. Yes some females can be aggressive but when properly housed they do fine. Plenty of space, plants and hides. Never had any issues with my own sorority or any of the female groups I worked with.
@@Olivia-qj3wv they CAN be just as aggressive, but most of the time, they're not that bad after asserting dominance. if done properly, sororities can be an amazing experience. males are often labeled incorrectly as females, and most of the time people starting new sororities don't know what they're doing and firstly, can't tell a plakat male from female, and just don't do it correctly. if you know what you're doing, its not that hard. the only females i've had problems with turned out to be male, any others that were remotely aggressive in the beginning stopped once the pecking order was in place and they asserted their dominance. most people who fail choose too small of a tank and the wrong number of females and don't provide nearly enough hides. in my experience, the bigger the tank, the more fish ( community fish as well not just bettas ) and the more hides the more successful you'll be. :)
Hey Mike, on the 125, have you considered removing all of the black trim on top, and then adding some glass bracing on top that you could silicone in? That would give you a rimless aesthetic while still being structurally sound. Just an idea.
Ya totally, its just more work and more potential problems. Im just a little nervouse cause i havent done my normal de rimming proccess on such a large tank :/
My husband and I love the desert tank! I'd work on the rack of 3. And Go with a yellow halfmoon and what ever else you drawn too! Whatever tickles your fancy. I love anything you do!
I find that picking a beta is a personal choice. I have 4 and each one I was attracted to for different reasons. You are a great tank scraper and think you would know which one fits better with your vision. Make one of them a giant cause it sounds like you really want one. 😆 btw, my latest beta looks just like Richard, guess we both have great taste 😆. Please finish the 3 40 gallon tanks then move on to the big one. Can’t wait for your idea of the 4 12x12 tanks to be up cause I’m sure you will scrap them great and I can’t wait to see which betas you pick. Keep doing what you do. Love the videos. 👍🏻😎
I'm HYPE about giant bettas and I've been looking for the perfect one for my 15 gallon tall. It really depends on what type of tank you're getting, if it's a taller tank I would go a short finned betta, but if it's not too tall you could get something with longer fins. I love bettas with high contrast to their colors that are eye catching. Koi halfmoon plakats are gorgeous and I LOVE Galaxy koi bettas- the females and the males are gorgeous. That shrimp tank would make a cute betta tank and I would just make sure that there's not too much space on the lid area! Bettas are jumpers and I would just make sure there's not too much space on the lid, even if you "plugged" it with some driftwood poking out the top or something. A sorority is also a really good idea! 5 females in a 30-40 gallon sorority with some harlequin Rasboras and some nerite snails would be really cool!
I don't know about a betta sorority. I remember Cory saying that he's not a fan of them, or they don't work well. It was something like that in one of his recent livestreams. But I'm sure you could figure out what would work. :) As for the other tanks, are there any scales that you're bringing back from the old place? I grew attached to a lot of them and I re-watch those videos almost every day! Keep up the cool scapes bro! You've really inspired me to try some new things with my fish tanks.
I have a koi betta. When I bought her she was almost all white with a few color patches here and there, now she has no white left, she’s mostly red tones with a lot of shiny blue scales mixed throughout her top half. She’s one of my favorites.
I'd finish scaping the 2/3 40g tanks and get the 125g readied for scaping for after the holidays. Go at the rim a little at a time so you can anticipate any issues. I almost, allmossst got that same shrimp king set up for my betta. It's perfect. I'm all over the design of the light that comes with it, haha. I wound up scoring a deal for a display case instead; it's still pretty nice. Also, nice plan on the 12x12s! I love cube tanks. I'm finally getting around to setting up a community tank in a 20x20 acrylic. I have mine on a wheeled cart so I can move the side of the scape whenever I get bored.
The Yellow Dragon Halfmoon is the fish i would pick . I always love the laid back personalitys of the halfmoons compared to the higher energy of the other tail types. In mt experience they also love living with other fish species that wont harm them so always better than being alone x
Rather than asking us what to do, look at your fish and decide which ones need a new home 1st. I'm sure they're fine in the holding tanks but would be much happier in new scapes.
Do yourself a favour and tweezer feed Richard some bloodworms. Some of mine grab the bloodworm off the tweezer like a bulldog, shake them into submission and then slurp it like spaghetti. It's hilarious
I have no experience with fish but as a viewer I would recommend getting the fish you already have in their permanent homes before bringing in new fish. I mean, they're probably fine in their holding tanks but I think they would be a lot happier in their own homes and it was on your to do before getting more betas.
the scales growing over the eye can happen in any betta but its more common with dragon scales (same with tumors). its called " Diamond eye " or " Dragon eye " I'd suggest a sorority, minimum 20 gallon long, 5+ females heavily planted. :) I definitely wouldn't put a betta in anything less than 2.5 - 3 gallons for a forever home. 5 gallons imo is the happy medium for one fish.
The 125 would be really cool. Like if you did an archer fish tank that would be awesome and then you could feed them crickets every now and then and you could have the scape come out of the tank. Maybe driftwood or something.
I really like the nemo koi HMPK that has some yellow in him. One day I will have a giant so I was excited to hear that Space City was going to start carrying them!
I would choose giant galaxy koi hmpk and fancy red dragong hmpk. I think you should make the shrimp king tank. Should have shrimp. Work on the 125 gallon tank. Leave desert tank alone.
Plakat bettas seem to have the strongest genetics, rosetails, doubletails, and feathertails (in my experience) are more prone to stuff like swim bladder and fin nipping. Crowntails seem to be kind of in the middle
Took a look at all this websites bettas and they look great! Kois are awesome but my heart will always belong to halfmoons. They just flow so nicely. But if you go for a koi try to find one with darker reds and blues because I find that once you get them in a tank with higher light their colors lighten up a little. So pick them with the understanding that they will change a shade or two lighter than what they currently are... or what you see in the picture I guess.
I would love to see you make a dark water tank (they deserve mire credit) with lots of tannins, a kind of river stream with rocks and twigs and leaves...
I love a scattered video. If your tanks were mine I would jump to the 125, because if you are still sitting on a lot of tissue cultures you can plant a lot of them in that tank before they die off.
Hi Mike, i am liking the 'Fancy Red Dragon HMPK' looks pretty good (on the last page), alternatively the 'Fancy Marble Dragon HMPK' on the first page, both would look awesome in any tank. Thanks
Get 2 Bettas a Giant and one of the Grizzles from the site. The blue and red Grizzle would be my top pick. Oh and 2.0 tank love the cactus look. It doesn't matter what order you do the tanks just go with whichever one your most excited about.
Have you considered a Betta Rescue mission? There are so many sad bettas in bad stores, it would be great to see one rescued from a bad fate, to track it's process and see it colour up and get healthy.
Heyo I’m kinda going on a aquapros binge watching phase. Just wondering if you can organize playlists for each aquarium you have made. The set up as the first video and then updates. Just a suggestion. It would make binge watching a lot easier. Keep the videos coming!
Finish what you started with first. Knockout the 3 tanks then move to the 125 is what I'd do but it's your tanks. No matter which route you choose I'm sure we'll all be okay with it and tune in.
Make a division on surface and keep the Salvinia in the front, and in the back nothing in the surface so you can grow your rotalas in the back, greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
I'm with everyone recommending a sorority! Just make sure you have backup tanks in case some of the females don't mix well. Also I'd recommend the bigger the better, just to reduce stress for them ^-^
Get a nemo koi! And I think you should finish the small tank(s) first and then tackle the 125 for a big finish! New subscriber btw, and your betta tank is absolutely stunning 😍
Sorority tank! That way you can have a bunch of different female colors. But, I also really like the HMPK fancies. I recently imported one and he is just gorgeous. My seller was wonderful, Anton from siger Betta fish. (not a brand deal or anything, just super happy with my results!)
Personally don't think any of the koi bettas they have on the site are still available are all that great looking, but my personal favorite are candy koi which are mostly orange/red and bumble bee koi which are black/yellow/white. I think the best looking bettas on their site are the orange marble dragon HMPK ($32) and/or the yellow dragon HMPK ($30).
The shrimp tank would be a great betta tank becuase it isnt very tall. I have a blind betta and she needs to be in short but long tank so its easier for her to get air. I love koi bettas so much I have 2 of them, 1 galaxy betta, 1 opal betta and 2 other bettas (they dont have a color specific name). A cool idea to try is making a community tank with betta and the main focal point. Only one of my bettas is nice enough to be in a 55 gallon community.
Iridescent blue- yellow grizzle is super good lookin. As far as the four tanks go, I think you should do 4 different species of killifish instead of doing Bettas and shrimp.
Hi. I have a 54 liter aquarium heavily planted but the light isn.t so good. The plants are mealting from the roots .What light would you recomand? I have co2.
If I were you I would finish the 3 tank setup first and get the giant galaxy koi they have! I was actually looking at him myself but I'd love to see him in one of your amazing tanks even more!
would be awsome if you made a kind of changing aquascape in the 130 tank, maybe trancending from jungle to dessert, and make it real detailed, the more the better
I have 3 bettas, a half Moon plakat, a crown tail and a Paradise. Right now my favorites are koi. That will be my next acquisition. How big is the shrimp king tank?
Hey Mike!! Thanks for the fun video! For voting for a new Betta, on the first page, row 3, the guy in the middle (Red/White/Bue Fancy Dragon HMPK), and on row four, the guy also in the middle (Fancy Marble HMPK). I love the tail pattern and color combination on them! You inspired me to create a desert tank! I have sunset honey gouramis as "coyotes" and sumo loaches as "rattle snakes" XD, thanks for the inspiration!! My Betta (Cooper) lives in a 20 long with 6 albino cory cats and 15 emerald eye rasboras! I want to mention something I learned by chance, when I was re-aquascaping one of my other tanks I threw a clump of bacopa into the 20L for temporary storage. Cooper ended up swimming into it and creating a small resting place for himself! It was so cute and cool I left it and the bacopa forest clump has extended its roots down and sprouted above the waterline. Didn't expect that to happen! Cooper still enjoys his "bacopa nest" still today! Have a good one, thanks again!
I looked at the space city page and if you like koi Betta i think you should look at the nemo koi HMPK, Giant galaxy Koi HMPK and the fancy marble halfmoon, those are my top picks.
Personally I love half moons and the rosetails. I was not going to get a betta yet and then I found 2 beautiful veils at the store and brought them home. Good thing too the one apparently had a fungal issue and I've got him some meds he got bad fast. I don't know about that small tank. I've got a temporary 2 gallon and I'm constantly cleaning it.
FYI Dragon stone is too dangerous for long finned bettas. They will get their fins caught and ripped. You want smoothed, rounded, river rocks for bettas and no sharp sticks, but rather one or two pieces of sanded and smoothed driftwood.
Get a king/giant, I got one named Titan and hes about 3 and a half to 4 inches long and man is he one pissy fishy. He attacked the two snails I had in the tank the second he saw them so they got removed and anytime me or my girlfriend is near his tank he just snaps at the glass. Leave him alone though and just chill across the room and hes totally fine, only time hes nice is around feeding time haha.
This guy looks the most, to me, like the giant koi Prism Bettas had at AE. spacecityfishandcoral.com/collections/male-bettas-wysiwyg/products/nemo-koi-hmpk He has a whole lot of growing to do, and as a youtuber I think he would be really great for updates. His colors are going to come in and you really don't see a whole lot of yellow and red together. I also really like this guy spacecityfishandcoral.com/collections/male-bettas-wysiwyg/products/nemo-koi-hmpk-1 for the same reasons, but I think he'll get more red than yellow. Good luck picking your fish!!

Get a betta sorority tank and put five females in it you only need a 20 gallon to do it
Bi-color blue/white marble halfmoon betta
Wild bettas are awesome
I think Richard rly enjoys the low light. Less glare and more relaxation!
I'm with everyone saying to do a sorority tank! Female bettas are so underrated. Loved my sorority tank!
Shannon Mann I love female betas I used to have 5 in a tank
@@eL1TaL8iVaN I had about that many in a community tank. They were great!

The silver shiny rainbow beta look beautiful. Maybe you’ll be interested in that. They all look great though.
I love the yellow/blue and red/blue bettas. The desert tank is awesome so if you must; redo the scape.
The Fancy Marble HMPK. White with blue on the body and green on the tail. Seahawks colors :)
I would love to see you make a dark water tank (they deserve mire credit) with lots of tannins, a kind of river stream with rocks and twigs and leaves...
Do a cichlid tank and please can you do a video about your top 10 best fish for a 20 gallon it would be awesome 👏
I love a scattered video. If your tanks were mine I would jump to the 125, because if you are still sitting on a lot of tissue cultures you can plant a lot of them in that tank before they die off.

Get a blue/red grizel halfmoon mike, it's my favourite beta
Have you considered a Betta Rescue mission? There are so many sad bettas in bad stores, it would be great to see one rescued from a bad fate, to track it's process and see it colour up and get healthy.

Great update Mike!
A Borneo scape/biotope would be rad, showing off some nice species of buce 👍🏼
Go with what you want. There is a pair of giant galaxy koi hmpk. That is my vote. Finish the three tanks, then go for the big one.
I like the pastel or the blue/yellow grizzle HM and the bi-colour butterfly HM. I would def love to see them in some vids
that dennerle tank is the one i have my betta in. he's very happy in it, so can recommend
Sorority tank! That way you can have a bunch of different female colors.
But, I also really like the HMPK fancies. I recently imported one and he is just gorgeous. My seller was wonderful, Anton from siger Betta fish. (not a brand deal or anything, just super happy with my results!)
I vote Nemo Koi - too cute for words, and he’d look amazing in a planted tank. Richard looks great btw :)
Will you be setting up your sand fall tank again? That looked awesome.
Get the iridescent blue/yellow grizzle Halfmoon or the black dragon butterfly rosetail. I like the black orchid betta my self.
GIANT Galaxy Koi HMPK (Male/Female/Pair) these are stunning on pg 3 the last one in the listing
good luck
You need the iridescent yellow Dragon half moon And it's a shame that the black Dragon butterfly rosetail is sold out because he's stunning. :)
Lately I’ve been seeing opal bettas they’re all white and look like a pearl I love them
The shrimp tank would be a great betta tank becuase it isnt very tall. I have a blind betta and she needs to be in short but long tank so its easier for her to get air. I have a great black orchid. It is so pretty, being blue with a white tail. A really great Betta.
Try making a ring of airline for the surface of the tank and clear the plants on the inside of the ring.
I have co2.

I have 3 bettas, a half Moon plakat, a crown tail and a Paradise. Right now my favorites are koi. That will be my next acquisition. How big is the shrimp king tank?
For the bettas you should do more colorful common bettas and for the tanks do the big 125 and the small tanks do some shrimp tanks
I'd say go with a few peaceful bettas or females. Both are underrated IMO and can be kept with others
I just went today to get a betta fish couldn't decide !
So I got five lol
eva b that’s the only way to buy betta! 😂😂
Weird flex but ok

Hey Mike, get a galaxy looking dude! They just beautiful!
Koi Betta are beautiful, try getting one of the dumbo fin variety.
you should have a betta community tank it will be awesome!
I like 3 on page 2. Fancy marble dragon hmpk, yellow dragon half-moon, and the nemo koi one that's more yellow.
This guy looks the most, to me, like the giant koi Prism Bettas had at AE. spacecityfishandcoral.com/collections/male-bettas-wysiwyg/products/nemo-koi-hmpk
He has a whole lot of growing to do, and as a youtuber I think he would be really great for updates. His colors are going to come in and you really don't see a whole lot of yellow and red together.
I also really like this guy spacecityfishandcoral.com/collections/male-bettas-wysiwyg/products/nemo-koi-hmpk-1
for the same reasons, but I think he'll get more red than yellow. Good luck picking your fish!!
Blood fin teartas and glass cats would be sooo awesome.
Can you make a huge network of tanks connected with water bridges and play with some weird water physics like suspended water towers or something?
Whats up Mike the GIANT GALAXY KOI Bettas look Awesome !
I didn't go on their website cuz I'm super lazy but I really like those deep red koi bettas
You should definitely get a koi betta I have one and she has so much personality and jumps for my food she's great
I would first do the 2 40 gallons and then the 125 and I would prefer wild bettas forms like the betta smaragdina
Didn't you already get the giant koi beta? I thought I saw it on Instagram...
You should totally get the blue
ed Grizzle half moon or a giant galaxy Koi betta!!!! 😉
Get a wild betta such as betta imbellis and betta hendra. They are beautiful!
You should do a koi betta and a dumbo ear betta their both really beautiful
"Unnecessary amount of rim" 🤣
I need a better filter for my 20 gallon community tank for my betta any suggestions?
i think Red Galaxy Koi HMPK or Bi-Color Fancy Halfmoon is nice.
Do a Christmas themed tank with white sand as snow and a java moss Christmas tree and stuff
Fancy Marble Dragon HMPK orBi-Color Blue/White Marble Halfmoon
