A lot of their songs are pretty deep in my opinion. This song is definitely more *relatable* than a lot of their other songs, but there's definitely a reason they sound the way they do - at least for me, they're expressing concepts in their songs that are inherently hard to relate to. Take Exmilitary, their first album. Being a vet or someone who has seen combat is an alienating thing, and most people just cannot relate to that experience. If they try to express their story or their thoughts, most people won't be able to connect or understand the things they've seen or done. Or their album art for The Money Store. The BDSM lifestyle is one regarded as deviant or not normal by most people, and they don't understand why people enjoy that life. A lot of their music speaks to that - talking about things, saying things, exploring concepts that other people will not and can never relate to. But funnily enough, people do relate to the experience of not being understood, and we try to discover more, learn more, attempt to understand why the way things are in a Death Grips song. In a very dark way, suicide is very relatable for a lot of us, which I think is why people fuck with this song so heavy. I know I do. But I won't pretend to know what MC Ride's struggle is like cause I don't know him. That'd be vain of me to assume I do.
@@illfittinghelmet4072 great reply and I agree with what you said but I still think getting a grasp on mc ride as a character is important to truly understanding this song. Atleast something from fashion week or year of the snitch wasn't chosen because I don't want these guys to be turned off from this group and I hope they keep reacting to dg in the future
I'd actually argue the opposite. It's very straightforward, as opposed to their other songs, which require digging into to understand. Kinda falling into semantics but it has a much more profound emotional impact because nothing is that deep or obscured, it's somewhere we've all been
Death Grips are definitely one of the most influential and best musical act of the past decade. While there is more experimental stuff out there (even within the rap/hip hop genre), Death Grips stands out in every way possible, from their publishing methods, to their live concerts, to their music videos and, obviously, their music. Hope you get to see more from them. Great reaction.
My daughter is into this band. She went and saw them in concert. When I asked her how it was, she said that it was very loud. I agree, the lead singer is a very shouty man. I like the Death Grip mix that they did with Bjork's song Sacrifice on her Biophellia album.
This song is of great comfort to me when I'm feeling suicidal, death grips make the most beautiful music to me. In my mind, they are the greatest band there ever was.
This is one of my favorite songs by them as well. I relate to the lyrics a lot but they have tons a music and most of it is more crazy than this in terms of production and lyrics.. you should check it out.. they're great. This band can really take you to crazy places if you're willing to go down the anxiety driven spiral to hell that is their "rabbit hole" lol
This is definitely one of their more unique songs compared to their others. You should check out some of their other tracks, like 'Hustle Bones' or 'Whammy', for more of an idea of their sound. There's no other band quite like them.
This song is alot more deep than their other songs lol idk why this was a first suggestion but its an excellent song

I heard this is the song that they've NEVER performed live. Personally this is probably my favorite song of DG if not at least top 3.

Hahaha it was only a matter of time until someone would request Death Grips, they're bonkers but they also have a fascinating quality to them

The emotional weight this song holds is crazy. Rides first verse in particular always hits pretty hard. He’s got such a way with words

Rides ability to create such visceral and emotional songs are unlike any other.

I played your intro twice. Had me bouncin.

react to more Death Grips!!
This song is strange for me, it makes me want to cry but I never do to it. The ending just keeps me from crying, it's like a weird melancholic uplift.
Doesn't this outfit contain some members from Hella?
yeah, just the drummer though, Zach Hill. in fact, one of Hill's past collaborators, Tera Melos' Nick Reinhart, plays guitar on this track.
Wow! In my insignificant opinion. This made me think of Henry Rollins... post Black Flagg. But with zero talent.
Mal bait Miguel
