This is what i hv been teaching to all my clients in the gym. Muscle imbalanced due to bad habits. Long hours of sitting infront of computers, looking down phone etc... Great sharing Sir 👍
@@1aboPLZI’m guessing you’re asking about leaning back? If so, your spine has a natural curve and you (likely, depends on your personal anatomy) will always have a slight arch. If you’re actually experiencing pain however it likely stems from your hips, pelvis, and lower back. Issues in that area could also be from poor ankle and knee mobility. Essentially, mobility and flexibility are bottom-up, meaning a lack in ankle mobility could be the root cause for low-back pain
Everyone does this stretch naturally lmao. It doesn’t fix anything. Just don’t stay in the same position for too long long throughout your day. That is good posture
@@vsauce4498i faced this there was severe pain, i woke up in the middle of the night multiple times because of it, been to the Dr he showed me movements and strech similar to this and holds Plus Calcium and Vitamin D3, and Multivitamin powder with Milk finally I'm relieved and i almost never slouch now. PAIN I WAS IN😖😖 GIVES ME CHILLS.
ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT ADVICE!!!!!! I have had spinal problems for over 35 years since I narrowly avoided being killed in a bomb blast. I've tried EVERY "solution" to reduce my pain, but THIS type of exercise, combined with many others, IS AN EXCELLENT TOOL to spread the chest, get your shoulders backwards and straighten your posture. I've extended my whole spine, the 4-6 INCHES difference is amazing!!! The long term effect can be louder changing. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS. 👍
I’ve come to realize the seats in my car force my shoulders into medial/forward rotation and spread my scapulas apart. I imagine this is the case for all modern vehicles. These “ergonomic” seats need to be revisited!!
@@Buddhamind11nice bait, I'll engage. I've been practicing what he demonstrated in the video and it has absolutely changed my posture. I sleep better, move better, and feel better. I would recommend this to anybody👍😁
I like these. I like lying flat on the floor 10 mins before bed too... also in the AM... it's amazing how bad our phones are for our posture! (And I work from mine a good bit )
Love it! Every night I lay on the for with a folded throw blanket under my back for about 15 minutes with meditation music. When my lower back is trying to come off the floor from arching I use a few pillows under my feet, on those days I lay there longer because it’s peaceful. I make sure it’s not wider than the length of my arm pits, basically you can’t see it while I’m laying on it. I relax with my arms straight out with palms up. The first time I did this my hands couldn’t touch the floor because my chest and the muscles right above my armpits were so tight. Don’t force it and try not to arch the back. Btw the blanket start at the nape of my neck, doesn’t matter how long it is but width is important to make sure you get full stretch in the chest. My PT wanted me to do this on a form roller, tried it and damn near died and let’s not talk about getting off of it.😫
Been doing this with a resistance band. Put the band behind your back and pull the arms back. Really opens the chest muscles. I just need to make sure I'm adding the neck. Thank you!
I learned that stretch when I injured my neck which 6yrs later caused arthritis..this stretch is everything I do it twice or more a day especially the one holding your arms out between the door wow!! Go into a lunged position 👌🏾
As a completely fresh leg Physiotherapeut (barely any experience at all), based on my experience most people I’ve seen with tight tense muscles with painful trigger points are due to being in contracted positions for a long time so basically the exact opposite to this. Example: protracted shoulderblades/forwards rounded shoulders=pain in pectoralis minor (small chest muscle) or for example painful traps from having raised shoulders (traps contracted, not stretched). What’s your take on this?
From my memory in school, studies comparing posture and pain were quite poor and largely disproven. Most studies found that weekly adherence to strength training was more productive when reducing chronic pain. Do you have any evidence supporting a sitting position to "reset posture"?
Dude I’ve been struggling with my posture for years sitting in an office job. One of the main reasons I started working out last year was to fix my posture, but it didn’t help. I just did this and my posture instantly corrected.
Been walking around like that for shoulder impingement I hope it works. If you exercise make sure your form is right and don't neglect muscles it can get pretty nasty 😢
S h i t is a nasty word that means human fecal matter I actually hate that word I'm a true born again Christian and we don't like any type of curse words your word offends me because you know human fecal matter or any fecal matter looks nasty smells nasty I don't even know why you'd want to say it sometimes I want to give the person what they're saying you're saying it means you want it I know you don't want that crap
All for themselves, some people who do this naturally like myself have other posture issues as slouching but the back is strong. Weird but no one is perfect
I just want to say, if you can sleep on a recliner, you can initiate and hold this posture while you sleep, shoulders back and tucked, back pinched, head and neck back nearly staring at the ceiling.
That bruger and stretching torso from pelvic bone to above clavacal will bring you back close to youth .Has anyone ever tore that main artery going thru abdominals on it's way south stretching torso ? My heart rate increases 30% and pulse gets deeper when in a 10min abdominal stretch eyesight is also affected and takes minutes to get back to normal maybe I've reached my limit . when you take a breath and hold at apex does your chest rise to it's limit( close) .supenate is the proper position for flys on the bench ( careful with the front deltoid) don't come past leval when doing flys and expanding chest keep shoulders back Don't lose the supanate position its agreat challenge to maintain , Peace
Michael j. Fox needs this. I’ve been doing it motivated by instinct but now I know why it works. Thanks Dr. Rob. Desks, sitting and laptops are posture destroyers
That’s crazy.. when I first started working out I couldn’t hold the barbell for squats so I tried doing this just so I could stretch my arms back without advice from anyone.
Sort of, except tight areas are a direct consequence of weakness in those untrained muscles, just sitting around doing a tiny bit of stretching your pecs and not actually fixing the issue of weak traps, weak chest and weak external rotators: teres minor/subscapularis/infraspinatus/supraspinas, won't do anything for long term improvements. In order for your body to get more flexible and prevent postural issues/pain, is by strength training with a bias in the stretched position in all muscle groups including chest/ shoulders / traps / external rotators listed earlier. -Fitness expert/Kinesiologist
Posture videos have the same effect as breathing and tongue videos: You don't acknowledge how you breathe or realize how uncomfortably your tongue sits in your mouth until it gets pointed out. Like right now, for instance.

A lot of people with narrow airways will push their heads forward like that so they can breathe. Forcing their head back closes their airway and is not sustainable. It’s not just lifestyle that causes poor posture. Anatomy adaptations do too.
I never understood how traps get tight because they're stretched for long but chest then gets tight because its not stretched? Are those two different tightness?
Finally a real video that helps posture
