@BobbieGWhiz Thanks for the suggestion, the video is pretty long 😂. And yes, we've tried it on just a couple of hearing impaired patients. The results were mixed: hearing was improved, but not as much as with prescription hearing aids. And people were hesitant to wear them in public as they felt like others perceived them to be listening to music or podcasts and avoided talking to them.

Actually I believe the Apple software will accept the results of a calibrated "professional" hearing test and it will adjust the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) software to the "professional" hearing test diagrame.
@@alexgray1905 Yes, this is correct. You can load a professional audiogram into your phone and use it to program the Air Pods Pro 2s for a more accurate fit
The AirPods Pro 2 first generation (lightning port) work as hearing aids as well. The 2nd generation has better sound, but both versions allow the hearing aid function.
I have the AirpodsPro1 and when the software updated on my old iPhone10 we got the hearing aid functionality too! So it’s not true to say it’s ONLY the Pro2. However, I don’t know if the functionality is quite as good. I am curious to know if there is a considerable difference. I did the hearing test (and the results of my more recent test at Costco were about the same) and then set up my AirpodsPro1 with the adaptive enhanced sound and the hearing aid mode on. It really works! For the first time in a long time I could hear birds sing in the trees on my walk. And I really enjoy the ability to trigger the noise canceling ear protection in loud environments. The tech at Costco really wanted to sell me the Phillips 9050, but I think for now the AirpodsPros are doing a pretty good job. I do want to know if moving to the Pro2 would be worth it. At only $189, it might be worth exploring? I will say that sound quality is AWESOME with the AirPods, maybe not so much with hearing aids.
I wear Jabra hearing aids that I got at Costco, but I'm still challenged in noisy restaurants. Would it help if I used the AirPods Pro 2 at the same time I have my hearing aids in? Currently, when I want to listen to music I use an older model of AirPods and it sounds fine. It also fits fine because the AirPods hang on the ear rather than pushing into the ear canal. The AirPods you reviewed look like maybe they go into the ear canal so I'm not sure if one could simultaneously wear over-the-ear hearing aids and the new AirPods Pro 2 simultaneously. Is it possible and useful to wear both the iPod pro 2's plus my hearing aids as I do now with the earlier version of AirPods? Both for listening to music and also for using the hearing aid functions of the new AirPods Pro 2? Thank you!
@Andy.Moore.AndysTreasureTrove Great question! The AirPods Pro2 are not designed to be worn simultaneously with hearing aids. However, if your hearing aids sit behind your ear and are an "open fit" the new Air Pods will probably fit about the same as your old Air Pods. Thinking about it, why would any prescription hearing aid be able to do a better job of it than Apple with custom designed processor chips?
@plummpj Over the counter hearing aids are mandated to have limited gain output. By law, they cannot produce enough gain to amplify a hearing loss that is greater than moderate in nature. This is actually to protect the consumer: the last thing you'd want in an over the counter device is to cause damage to the existing hearing by over amplifying. That being said, I have no doubt you still receive benefit from your Air Pods. It's just not ideal for the severity of your loss. Hope that makes sense!
