I think this would end up taking a boat load of rares and myths and might end up being an atraxa reanimator with a secondary win condition.
For anyone interested in this card: Perfect world scenario. Turn one flying Merfolk blue Turn two Throne. Turn three black enchant and pirate token does not die. Turn 4: 4 cards milled (I don't think it untaps if we have to tap for 6) hit galta ether Galta both are 12/12 trample dinosaurs and at least 1 changeling/vampire- use the throne for an 8/7 trample and a 12/12 trample pair of attackers. If is is the full green only Galta you can also dump your creatures in hand hand on the board. 20 damage and still slower than mono red type rush decks. There is a very good green white Vampire Dinosaur Legendary. He's 12/12 trample. Attacking effects will not apply to the first attack so the huge body is enough. He only counts as one of the Four but he can fit in two slots. There is a 12/12 trample legendary green dinosaur. There are two changeling artifacts in bloomburrow. They are hot garbage, but they are whatever you need them to be for the combo. There is a black enchant that creates a pirate token, it gives haste to skeletons (captain is a skeleton) and +1/0. The token should be able to be used but will not be playable again. There is also a red enchant that give haste to a creatures. There is a plotable red coyote for 2 that give haste to another creature when played. The old jace self mill to put a bunch of cards in your grave yard would probably be an easy way to do this whatever cards you use.
I really enjoy these sillier decks, it’s a nice break away from trying to just play meta decks, there’s so many “fun” cards to try out because they never get to see play. I’d rather see more losses than wins if the decks are interesting, kinda like Against the Odds on the MTG goldfish channel, like, many of those games are losses, but they’re really cool and unique decks
CGB I would LOVE to see how you would improve these decks is you see fit especially this one. It was interesting but mana base needs works and some other swap outs adding a possible plan B. Would love to see a follow up to this one
ok. this is great. this is a test of 2 things: CGB's patience, and our solidarity. The only way that deck-submission content could work is if CGB is graceful and diplomatic in his criticisms, and we are supportive of one another's creativity and originality. we really cant afford negative energy or these kind of videos will cannibalize themselves and create bad vibes.
A great concept ! I think with a bit more polish it would be amazing ! Like maybe chose a deck between 5 of them and changing 5/10 cards ? Have a nice day, from France
I loved this intro. Actually dropped a what and you're crazy for saying you would play viewer decks. The biggest think I enjoyed was immediately calling out what was wrong with the deck by saying 3x means you don't know what good, and using every land means you're still guessing. Would love to see that commentary on more.
The priceless reactions had me laughing so hard 😂 Also the editing really adds to the humor. Do this with Brawl too if Standard sucks too much of your soul!
I love this idea, maybe do a "how you would tweak the deck" to make it better, like CGB gets to change 10% and lands to try to keep the theme buy make the deck better.
Well god damn, I made an extremely similar list months back. I was trying to make Grim Captain work for a while and weirdly, I feel that it was Desperate Bloodseeker out of Outlaws that finally made it consistent enough. Mine has Tranquil Frillback instead of Hammerskull, and Jadelight Spelunker instead of Cenote Scout, and I guess Urborg Repossession (underrated card tbh) instead of Seed of Hope. Also a few 2-ofs instead of 3-ofs (5 of each creature type instead of 6) so I can fit in 2-each of Terror Tide and Virtue of Persistence. It did fine a few months back and now it probably doesn't given how the vast majority of B01 is too fast or too grindy (idk, I play paper now instead, not much standard)
I'm tempted to send in a list of 15 Forests, 15 Plains, 15 Islands and 15 Swamps. (15 Mountains in the sideboard because you're not playing them, of course!)
I really liked this format, but I think it would be at least twice as good if half way through you made adjustments and/or gave advice on how to improve the deck. Don't totally change the win con or anything, but I'd be beneficial to learn how you'd improve a deck and what the thought process is.
It really is absolutely mind baffling you can do this shit with a mono red deck with like 3 lands and a bajillion prowess/haste creatures and 1 mana buff cards.
This would probably help the game itself see a variety of different decks. I don’t even like to play standard anymore because 9 times out of 10 I’ll know what I’m up against by the first 2 lands played.
I actually don't like the pain, but I do like when you get put outside of the norm and puzzle your way out. Maybe do 'attack' the deck part way through and update it or something or maybe that could be a follow on video. Two for the price of one at that point.
it isn't impossible to hit Mythic with anything because you're paired by hidden MMR. Eventually, you get the soft Diamond path to Mythic. LOVE their system. soooo gooood.
i had people play the terrible grim captain decks, just removing all the copies or flashing in a tishana to stop the craft trigger is so chefs kiss, since it ends up in the graveyard .
I recently started playing MTG Arena again and it took me around two weeks to reach Diamond 4 with my blue white control deck with Teferi and Tolarian Terror. I've had some fun games with a discard deck in limited bloomburrow and i remembered that i faced some insane monoblack discard openings so i gave it a try in normals. Deck was insane. So i went to ladder with it. 47 wins and 24 lose later and i reached mythic from Dia4 0wins. People on mythic are not too faced by it tho. It's at 14 wins and 12 lose there. I'm also by no means a good magic player. I have no place in mythic.
I havent watched your vids in a while cause i took an overall break from magic content and the game itself. Im so glad i clicked this video! Will be following if you continue you suffering was entertaining 😋

There's only so much mono red a man can endure before he starts seeing the figures in the void
CGB I would LOVE to see how you would improve these decks is you see fit especially this one. It was interesting but mana base needs works and some other swap outs adding a possible plan B. Would love to see a follow up to this one
CGB has the energy of a football fan that channeled it all into a card game.
Time to build a changeling deck with the Grim Reaper.
ok. this is great. this is a test of 2 things: CGB's patience, and our solidarity. The only way that deck-submission content could work is if CGB is graceful and diplomatic in his criticisms, and we are supportive of one another's creativity and originality. we really cant afford negative energy or these kind of videos will cannibalize themselves and create bad vibes.
I love this challenge because it lets all those back-seat Andy's see their terrible deck in action piloted by THE ONE and still losing horribly
I love the pure joy of beating mono-red!
Oh, this is gonna be an interesting arc for the channel. Maybe not long, but definitely interesting
The red. The discards. The painnnnn
I think this is a great idea for content, and possibly a part on where and how to improve said decks would also be great.
How many deck pics do you receive per day?
enough
if you thought about sending him a decklist 14 people did.
I see what you did here
A great concept !
Next episode should be an optimized Throne of the Grim Captain deck!
The priceless reactions had me laughing so hard 😂 Also the editing really adds to the humor. Do this with Brawl too if Standard sucks too much of your soul!
I loved the video!!! I hope for a lot more (sorry). But one suggestion, I would like to see your tips in how to improve the deck used.
"if people like my pain"
If?
I love this idea, maybe do a "how you would tweak the deck" to make it better, like CGB gets to change 10% and lands to try to keep the theme buy make the deck better.
This was a lot of fun. I hope you do more of these.
I think that was the best sponsored segment ive ever watched. I didnt even think about skipping it.
Single greatest sponsor ad I’ve seen - well done. Also love the content, as always 😊
Great video sir. Also the way you say "We sell victory" gets me everytime
This CGB content is the reason I watch all your videos to completion!
Awesome idea; love this "campaign"
not running any changelings in a grim captain deck is certainly one of the ways to build a deck
When Duskmourn hits, there will be a T2 kill in Mono Red, so I don't know this problem gets any better
This was so much fun. Would love to see a more optimized version of the deck
No thrillseeker? In many situation that off the captain is just lethal.
Hammerskull is interesting though, I guess it helps a lot against monored.
You're having so much fun playing the fan deck , turn out others can make good decks too.
Pretty sure bitter reunion is here to discard the right piece, dig in and haste the Throne dude
it isn't impossible to hit Mythic with anything because you're paired by hidden MMR. Eventually, you get the soft Diamond path to Mythic. LOVE their system. soooo gooood.
Im laughing my ass out here... i really enjoyed this video!
Maybe CGB needs to play more magic outside of the mythic ranked queue. There is more diversity in the meta in events and the lower tiers.
New Series....Fix It Fridays.....Where CGB takes our decks and fixes them.
CGB's slide toward full-time commander content channel
You're doing great CGB , this meta is tough and I appreciate you playing it so I don't have too lol
Definitely would enjoy seeing more of these. Comedy gold
It was entertaining to watch you play the games we play lol. This is what MTG is like for me.
"You gave me a free treasure you might as well concede"
I love this, you're doing great man
This is the best content I've seen from CGB in years
I was thinking about throne last night. So many new changelings in bloomburrow
i had people play the terrible grim captain decks, just removing all the copies or flashing in a tishana to stop the craft trigger is so chefs kiss, since it ends up in the graveyard .
That was pretty fun. I'd like to see you sift a bit for anti-red decks.
You are a nice young man. Don't let anyone dim your sparkle.
I wonder if Changelings would be good in this deck. There are some in Standard, Love these deck ideas!
yeah that 2/1 common effigy thing from bloomburrow would also help with color issues
I was actually hoping that this deck worked well... I'm interested in the improvements of these viewer decks
Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.
wow what an adventure this video was, hats off to you CGB
Cracking up already, not even past the intro
I can hear cgb's inbox dinging with notifications for deck submissions as we speak. he is now deaf.
roots osteomancer...
Anointed with Grim Captain Timmy goodness
He could have been making alot of treasure with those pirates and milling from the throne
I think I played against something like this the other day, but with the 2 changeling artifacts from Bloomburrow
32:00 it's so over
35:00 we are so back
I havent watched your vids in a while cause i took an overall break from magic content and the game itself. Im so glad i clicked this video! Will be following if you continue you suffering was entertaining 😋
Man your emotional range is so wide:D
What a sincere expression when you win that mono red game haha
