Obviously being serious is called for when necessary, but I am glad you keep things a little more lighthearted by doing impressions and making witty comebacks etc. It definitely helps keep people more engaged when it comes to topics as depressing as this stuff can be.

Jay, you should get together with Dr. Jay Smith from Pfanderfilms before your next debate with a Muslim. Dr. Jay Smith does historical criticism of Islam. And the things he shows have caused tens of thousands to leave Islam, and even cause Muhammad Hijab to have a crises of faith. A very worthwhile guest to have on your show. As he'll give you some arguments you can bring up when the Muslim inevitably goes to liberal criticism of the Bible, to show that Islam has the same problems.
p.s. I say "the same problems", let me rephrase that. The Bible actually doesn't have these problems, Muslims just claim it does. But actually the Bible survived critical examination. Most recently they found evidence that the Hittites actually existed, which critical scholarship claimed were made up. But Quranic history can actually be proven to be false, such as the fact that there are dozens of Qurans with tens of thousands of textual variants still in existence, which disproves the preservation claim. And the fact that Mecca couldn't possibly have been home to palm trees and elephants which the Quran claims it was.
@@crunchipan6593 It's only a bad argument if there is no empirical proof and the argument relies solely on the speculation of scholars as os the case with Biblical higher criticism. In the case of Islam there is definitive empirical proof that the Quranic claims are false. We can show them dozens of different Qurans in existence today with tens of thousands of textual differences. That's conclusive proof that the Quran is not perfectly preserved. If Biblical higher critics had any such proof regarding the Bible then it would be a legitimate area of research.
@@veritasaeterna It's only an appeal to authority when all you can shows is speculation and theories on the part of "scholars", as is the case for Biblical higher criticism. It's not an appeal to authority when you can point to objective evidence, such as the existence of dozens of Qurans with tens of thousands of textual differences. Just because we're not empiricists doesn't mean empirical evidence doesn't matter, and just because Biblical higher criticism is a fraud doesn't mean that Quranic higher criticism is also invalid.

@@Alex-ii8xb thank you Alex. I have deep respect for many Orthodox theologians and have begun reading more deeply in the tradition. The most significant hurdle has been the occasional ortho-bro who make unprovoked attacks. Ironically, I suspect most of the time they are ex-Protestants and still in the stage of differentiating from their old identity, hence the hostilities.

If you know the title and author, you'd be surprised what you can have published to order through Barnes & Noble, Amazon and Thriftbooks. I have quite a collection of three ring binder print outs and "historically preserved" with disclaimers like : This book has been considered by academicians and scholars of great significance and value to literature. This forms a part of the knowledge base for future generations. So that the book is never forgotten we have represented this book in a print format as the same form as it was originally first published.
PS - I'm probably on a list for ordering some of the books I have

Hey Jay, just wanted to comment on the Dittman/Musk debates and you hopefully jumping into them. Bermas did one with him but was way out of his league because DittzMan was spouting post modern philosophy. Jason is woefully uneducated on the philosophical arguements of what is consciousness and what is free will. What makes me think it is Musk, aside from his idiosynchratic stutters, are his same tired post modern philosophical understanding of consciousness. It matches to a t everything Musk has been saying for years. Hope to see you debate him on x or wherever! Few in the community have enough of an understanding of these philosophical arguements- and its on that battlefield where-in narratives will be won or lost. Bon chance mon ami!
