    Lovely nostalgic vid.
My mother and Grandparents came from Langford St, which is sadly gone now.
I have fond memories of the fish and chip shop which used to be on the corner. 🙂

I am absolutely gobsmacked! The photo captioned Shankill 1977 has as the prominent figure, my own stepfather (a better "Dad" never lived). It was often said that he had been the smartest man in the British Army, as in or out of uniform he always had polished shoes, starched shirt and neatly-pressed trousers; but this would be the first time I've ever seen him walkng with hands in pockets!! He had distant relations in the Agnes Street area, so walking the Shankill was familiar to him. It broke my heart when he died back in 1985, so this photo - totally unexpected and right out of the blue - could not have been a better Birthday Present. At the time of this photo he would have been on a visit, as he was then living In Co. Armagh

I spent half my school years in that Library. I often thought they should have let the old people stay in their homes and demolished them when they passed away. My mother and father were put into a place just above Peters hill, and it broke her heart. She said, she loved looking out and seeing the children playing when we lived in Northland Street, and now all she saw was ambulances and undertakers taking people away. Too sad.

So sad to see the children in their bare feet, but a great video. 💕
