- At the end of my Egypt trip I finally got to explore Cairo and see some of its historical sites, as well as Khan El Khalili market, try some local cuisine, like Koshary, and more. I'm really glad I had a guide for one day who showed me around Cairo, one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. Apart from Khan El Khalili, the Hanging Church, the Cairo Tower, there are many other places in Cairo worth visiting! Like the Egyptian Museum or the Mosque of Muhammad Ali. But I hope this video gives you some insights into my first impressions as a solo female traveller in Cairo, Egypt and some inspiration and tips for your trip to Cairo.

I am surprised Uber rides were so difficult to get in Cairo. In 2019 I had no issues. At that time Careem had been recently acquired by Uber. Only issue i had was trying to read Arabic license plate numbers to identify my ride.
Well maybe it depends on where you stay? :) I was in Giza and then later also not in the city center. Not sure ... the first 3-4 days were fine, but later it always took a while for a driver to come to my place. And they have troubles with their GPS in those areas. I had some really long rides bc they couldn't find my address. xD But YES ... the license plate was an issue as well!

Hi! Yes, actually, my host is a certified guide. Be careful, because some people want to show you around or say they are a guide, but are not and then want money. If you like, I give you her Whatsapp or facebook etc. :) She has hosted me and I would definitely trust her.
Cairo felt safer than other places in Africa. But in tourist places, there are lots of people who try to sell you stuff. I would be careful there.
It was definitely difficult by myself, yes. Africa is more difficult even when you go with other people (not alone).
Try to use Uber as much as possible and be careful with valuables. But also, have an open mind. Many people are very nice!

Did you feel safe travelling in Egypt, especially solo as a woman?
More or less. If you do some research you will be fine. It's the same everywhere 😊 Connect with some people maybe or get a guide when you go for the first time.
I'd also recommend to stay in the centre of Cairo to hopefully have better Wifi and get Uber. Both can be difficult
