Hey Mike, thanks for responding, I have the lowrance 9 Gen3 and it doesn't have the same software controls as Simrad. The Sidescan Scan and downscan are much clearer since the December 21, 2015.
I ordered the same unit, however the cable from the transducer to the 3D Structurescan Module was only 15 feet. It is replacing my Totalscan unit which has wayyy more cable length. Had to order an extension and the Simrad rep said if I do so there may be a reduction in the quality of the 3D video?!?! Not sure why they provide an extension cable if this is the case. Not to mention having to spend a lot more $$ for an extension cable.
I just rigged my boat with Nss evo2 units. I also bought this 3d box. My question is do I still a regular transducer for regular fish finder or will this 3d unit do it all
Joe Peverelle you still need a transducer for sonar. Down Scan is great but shows a huge amount of water at once so small marks can be hard to see, and it's a bit slower than sonar. The Airmar TM150 M is a great CHIRP transducer. It's perfect for the Evo2.
Hey Mike, I just ordered the 3D structure scan, and a new Airmar TM 185 transducer like you recommend for my evo 2. I’m going to switch out the old transducer that came with my factory install and put the airmar in. Any more suggestions. Thanks Dave!
hey guys, i have the same unit Simrad SS3D with the new type ducer, can you tell me what it should show up as on my simrad nss evo2 12 inch display? It shows SS3D I believe, but under installation in echo settings, it does not a "transducer type" is this normal or should i have to pick a transducer type? Like before on my old ducers, I had to make sure I picked the specific model like HST-WSBL etc... thanks in advance
Steven Johnson sorry. I just saw this. I'm sure you have it fixed by now but the 3D is a separate system so you don't punch in the transducer model in the echo installation page. That is only for transducers plugged directly to the display or from a BSM -1 2 or 3.
Mike thanks for the reply, i got it now, i have 2 airmar ducers, B60 for traditional high speed bottom lock and a B75 for chirp, however the chirp is nice but it was mounted wrong (behind a chine and strake) and I cannot get clarity at any speed. Biggest problem i have with the 3D ducer since the install of the B60 is that I cannot find bottom on the 3D SS ducer, it shows wild depths 150ft when i am in 10 ft of water... any tips?
Steven Johnson for your chirp transducer. Try punching in a custom frequency while on plane for clarity. Are you only having 3D issues when moving? Does it work fine when drifting?
As far as i can tell, when i start up my simrad nss evo 2's at the dock the 3d unit doesnt detect the correct depth so i guess its all the time. maybe its interference? my b60 and b75 are thru hull and the 3d ducer is mounted on the transom
Steven Johnson something isn't right. Interference shouldn't do that. Make sure you have the latest update on your 3D. If an update doesn't fix it definitely call Simrad tech support. They will take care of it for you. Do it soon so it's under warranty in case an update doesn't fix it.

David Bowers Sounds great. Your gonna love it!
Dear Mike , I have Simrad nss12 Evo 3. To use it 3d , do I need this module or not?
B.regards
Yes. You will need the 3D system. It’s a transducer and processor.
Will the 3D Transducer mount on the old bracket? Or will a new bracket need to be installed? Thanks.
It's a new bracket. Very similar, just a bit longer really.
I suck at this instal. Help for a dummy? Original hd...no source issue....
It doesn’t see the transducer?
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS yes sir. Says. No source.
Going to go back out today and do a factory default reset. Fimgers crossed
Unfortunately that’s all you can really do. Try a few things like that. Try a different transducer.
thanks mike......good video.
Does the transducer come with the 3D box? Or will the totalscan work with the 3D box?
onelik transducer and box come together with 3D kit. Total scan only does 2D structure scan.
Mike Smedley is it the one that cost $999 or $599?
onelik 999$ is the complete kit. You must have the complete kit to get 3D and enhanced side scan. Box and transducer.
Mike Smedley will it also do 2d and down view?
onelik yes sir. In fact the side and down scan have been greatly improved since the LSS2 version. The enhanced side scan in particular is amazing!
is that work with lowrance elite 4x chirp?
I don't THINK so, but I'm not up on all the Lowrance stuff as much.
