Try adding a splash of balsamic vinegar - that's what I always add in place of wine.

One of my favorites too, I made it two days ago and still have some in the fridge... sooo good. I use beef instead of veg. stock, balsamic vinegar instead of wine and add 2 tablespoons of tomato paste. I like to serve it over Rigatoni or mashed potatoes and its awesome.
