I would build a small cabin that includes the cave opening as it's back wall. This way you can put a proper door on it, and probably use the cave for storage.

Would it have been easier or more practical to start the flooring in the back and move towards the front of the cave? I'm no builder, for sure, but it just seems that way to me.
The floor will rot so fast being right on top of dirt.

I would have made a fire inside the cave to smoke out those bugs..I know your doing your best to get this shelter built but I thought you would have dug more out from the floor to give you extra space.... laying rocks on the floor might be better..
Um obviously haven't had to clean out a cave before. Smoke drives insects into HIDING AND DISORIENTS THEM which is part of the reason beekeepers use smoke to pacify a hive, heat makes insects LEAVE, so he made the correct choice here as for the depth 🤷
