Nadigar Thilagam never had time in his peak for physical fitness etc and strained every nerve to perform.. the other so called heroes had lot of time to do all such things and never really tried to perform fooling only public..

I don't know why people forgot this classic song of veteran actor Chevalier" Sivaji, who looks very young in this melodious song. I am unable to understand modern youth's taste, which is fleeting. Such songs always live. MSV has proven his mettle in this action packed film "SANGILI", where, for the first debut appearance, Prabhu fights his own dad in real life.
Had only Sivaji maintained a fit physique sans paunch he would have looked much more presentable. How Rajini , Kamal and even Sathyaraj look to day even at their old age. Of course Vijayakanth looks his age betrayed by his ever growing paunch.

He had no time for fitness and slept in his separate make up room during shift breaks and spend time with his kids, only in the weekend. When he went home, kids already slept. But, I also have another comment. Sivaji Ganesan with his heavy build in younger age, could do a variety of roles including as a senior citizen father in more than 15 films. Nobody did those roles better than Sivaji, Hence, it did help for versatility. When he was young, he was often overweight. When he was 45, looked fit. But after 55 age, he was both old and overweight where it became unable to watch his movies except a few such as paritchaiku neramachu, keezhvanam sivakkum, jallikattu, mudhal mariyadhai etc cheers
