The video is delightful, and I've returned to it repeatedly over the years to raise my spirits. But it is simply NOT "the best" rendition of the classic work. ua-cam.com/video/jG1CL38e27o/v-deo.html&start_radio=1&rv=VvZkozpQ-Lw
Naprosto perfektní zpěv. Úplně na mně dýchla atmosféra divokého západu. Jen tak dáááállllll !!! Posílám Vám pozdrav z druhé bluegrassové velmoci na světě z České republiky. 🤠🎻🔥🪕🇨🇿
no doubt the best angeline the baker song ive ever heard by any group excellent cant say enough the whole group are wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!A plus
This is the best Angeline the Baker I have ever heard. Im just a closet picker and wish i had this version tabbed for mandolin. I have liked this singer and the version of Cotton Mill Girls. Probably gettin close to wearing that CD out lol.
I have spent the last week working up a 5 minute mandolin version of this tune and just finished it, now I am adding the ornaments, hammer ons, pull-offs and double stops. Please tell ur singer I think she is 1st rate for this kind of haunting music. i will look up ur new CD. All the Best.
Hello Greg. First of all, thanks for watching. As far as the title goes, i tried to harken back to what seems to be the most original title, though it is known by both.
This is a slave song about Angeline the Baker being sold to another owner and leaving without chance of saying goodbye. Her sweetheart is missing her. I wonder how it evolved to be sung so happily.
The tune was written by Stephen Foster. He named it "Angelina Baker". Not "Angeline the Baker". This reminds me of "Cumberland Gap" being called "Tumblin' Gap". There are many who do this.
AtB is basically a tragically sad song, here done brilliantly happily, for which many are grateful, as am I, [Go Shelly!] but we should remember the slave singer's misery that his love was taken from him without warning or explanation. Slavery which in many forms continues to this day. Just saying, think if this had happened to you...................
Audio and music are great. Video, though was pretty bad - not content, but just way too dark. Many scenes are impossible to see both color and B&W. But thanks for the music!
That is an interesting mix of neither song. Angelina Baker was written by Stephen Foster and those are the lyrics but not the melody. Angeline the Baker is an old time version, which they are playing only the B part. An then there were those picks on the banjoists fingers...... hmmmmm. Identity crises but great music.
This is the best version of Angeline the Baker on You tube. The fiddles and Miss Shelley's voice are amazing. Kudos to the producer of the video.
The video is delightful, and I've returned to it repeatedly over the years to raise my spirits. But it is simply NOT "the best" rendition of the classic work.

Indeed
I've lived a life of hard work, hard times and hard drinking. This tune brings joy to my life.
Why do I love this video so much. Simply delightful.
Beautiful voice, beautiful band. God bless you
Love it !. You don't often hear anyone sing this nowadays. Actually a very sad song for a happy song.
The lady's voice is marvellous, rich and fascinating. The band is her equal.
I like this version best.

I'd refer you to Dry Branch Fire Squad's version, too.
Beautiful horse, beautiful song, beautiful music.
Great sound, great playing, and above all; great singing!
🤩
What a Fantastic video. This tune is well worn, but this video and version breathes great life into it!!
Thanks. It was filmed with a very OLD camera. That's why the lighting is funky now and then.
Never heard these people pretty good stuff!

2016 is a dark time in America, but this video makes me grin uncontrollably! Every listen, 30 times in a row!
Thank you.
2017 is even darker...

Yep bad times still.
But music has been my salvation and this rendition will serve me well!
2022 ain’t no better. Let’s go Branden

Better than most of the American stringbands I hear. Very sweet! Great vocalists!
The Oldtime Stringband is from the Netherlands. They have just released the 3rd cd:

need I say more?

Did quite a bit of research on this. From what I could find "the" is in the oldest records.
Cool idea, mixing the instrumental bluegrass version with the Stephen Foster vocal
Thanks. We decided to mix it up instead of getting into fisticuffs.

where is this bands home base at what country?
Netherlands
It's Angelina Baker.
Angelina Baker is the part that is being sung. Angeline the Baker is the instrumental part. Two different songs made into an interesting medley.
日本でもこういう曲のブームがこないかなー
Dutch bands are the best.....
Audio and music are great. Video, though was pretty bad - not content, but just way too dark. Many scenes are impossible to see both color and B&W. But thanks for the music!
Fabulous should base themselves in England
UK is not so far from The Netherlands. We did 3 short UK tours.
The BW scenes look like recorded in the Netherlands. Bicycles, clogs... Just the windmills and tulips lack.
The sound is totally indiscernible from folk music played by Americans, so I would say you're doing well.

Of course- a Stephen Foster song..
Finally an oldtime band that knows the lyrics of this song!
Hey - we’re trying to figure out those lyrics - do you have them?
@@idahardy4052 Google Stephen Foster Angelina Baker-wiki has a version and there are others
