Years later E40 says Detroit & the Bay are cousins. You can see here how far the influence went back. Even Too Short said he thought MC Breed was from the Bay. Detroiters came up on all coasts, all genres of Music. Thank you Boss for being apart of Detroiit Music & Culture & being a pioneer for the many Female MC's to come such as Kash Doll. RIP Boss.
I always thought it was Kansas City he said that about and tons of other's from there say that as well. Unfortunately its also where Mac Dre was murdered.
Yeah Bo$$ was born in Detroit, but relocated to Cali. Kinda like Big Meech being from the D and relocated to places like Atl and Cali. She moved there and adopted the Cali G culture.
She may have been pretending to be a gangsta or whatever, but, this was one of the best albums to come from HipHop. Hated that her career went south, cuz she was one of the best lyricists in the game. This song goes so hard! Man, she was such a good rapper. Even today, very few rappers, male or female, is coming anywhere close to this. And, this came out in '93! Just goes to show how good she was!!!
My uncle used to be a big Dj back in the 80’s. This is one of the records I took from his stash years ago. I was born in 96 - now messing around w chopping samples on an mpc. Unc didn’t even realize he put me on like 20 some years later. Love from Detroit.
@@devenchefrett3815 if rappers were real 99% would've been indicted on murder & conspiracy charges. UA-cam comment section is tge place where low IQs are put on display to be exposed.
We're dealing with a new breed. Real doesn't even matter. Today's mainstream rap fan doesn't care anything about history, skill, representing or anything having to do with what made Hip Hop the revolutionary voice of our generation. They're far removed from that. Rap was always here for them; they didn't see it emerge from nothing. They all get cell phones when they're 10 years old, and there's no struggle. Nothing matters.
As there have been many outstanding ladies of rap, WITHOUT A DOUBT, Boss is number one. Boss's lyrics and even the beats can be played today and knock every female rapper operating today out the box because her lyrics where real and not gimmicky....where the beat is carrying the lyrics, but her lyrics could stand alone and demand the beat to follow her lyrics. It would be interesting to see her step back into the rap community.
she didn#t write some of her shit. Dunno how much tho... Also her persona was 95% fake. She truly was the definition of a studio gangsta. But i agree her flow and delivery puts her up there as one of my favourite personal female emcees of all time, even though she really didn't put out much work
Please do your research on who wrote the rhymes before you make false claims. She did not use a ghost writer on any of the songs. She either wrote or was a co-writer. In the 90's, it was beyond difficult to be a highly educated hood chick, let alone get respect as a gangsta rapper... She achieved both and it took so many years before she was even given credit of being an female rapper. (Go back to the BET Rap Awards when all the old female rappers were given homage to.)
She was only treated like this because she was female. You know how many fake male rappers are selling millions... ALL OF THEM. The funny thing is, if you actually listen to this album, she never hides the fact she came from a good background. In "Deeper" she states "trying to get to Watts but I'm stuck in Baldwin Hills". There's also a voice message played on the album where her mother is stating basically, you came from a good background, why do you want to do this. Boss, is one of the MOST Unsung female rappers ever and chick could rhyme her ass off. It's a shame.
+rainmaker690 you cant put Rick Ross in the same genre as NWA completely different times and music genre, rick ross is 100% fake but in NWA's era rappers had to have credibility nowadays people dont care and the industry holds back and blocks the street guys!
