I love optimized characters AND good RP. It's hard to find a community that understands those two things can coexist. D4 is a breath of fresh air in that regard.

Everyone knows they *can*, the issue is that power gamers always claim they do both and then don't actually roleplay; they only "optimize" and participate in the combat. And not everyone who learns and masters the mechanics is a power gamer, but there is no way to tell a power gamer apart untill it's too late and a game is on its way to being ruined.

@insomnolant6043 Jerks will be jerks, whether they powergame or not. I've seen table ruining behavior from suboptimal builds who hide behind "It's what my character would do".
