    First of all, I apologise that it's a long clip, but I didn't want to cut too much since it might risk construing Miyabi's words incorrectly. If you watched till the end, thanks.
    I would also like to add that the community plays and important role in boosting Holostars. People who timestamps, Clippers, Live TL-ers, Artists, Meme creators, Basically any kind of fan content creator for Holostars.
    Everyone plays an important role and I hope the community continues to be proactive for Holostars!
    Although until today there's still some form of negativity toward Holostars, we just have to do our part as a community to focus on the boys, rather those keyboard warriors!

      Thank you for this. As a clipper you're doing far more than your part by translating the streams to begin with, going to lengths to make sure all of the context is there is more than many have done in the past, and it's the kind of content the holos want to see.
      We've been scolded many, many times for clickbait or poor context (notably recently by Flare for the problematic out of context quotes and suggestive thumbnails), so knowing that you willingly went for the entire subject instead of just a few ~30 second bits to get clicks, proves you're doing this for them, and not for your own gain. Keep it up!

    Hololive may have faced low numbers, bad revenue and mismanagement yabs, but outside of the CN incident they weren't faced with overwhelming majoritary hostility like Holostars were, and still are, let's not kid ourselves. Miyabi was a titan for managing to stand up against that haze of storm and dirt - the staff's support helped but the conviction to push forward was all on him.

    I respect the Holostars guys, they may have very low number of subs and viewers but it's a hard fought number. Many of the girls who debut are pretty much guaranteed a number of viewers and subs from their senpais. If this were an RPG, the Holostars guys all start off naked in a hostile forest already bruised and injured with a hated reputation from every faction around them, surrounded by elite mobs. The girls are basically gifted legendary weapons and a flying mount at level 1. It's commendable that they keep at it instead of abandoning Holostars to go to Nijisanji instead where they'd have an easier time.

    So what i got from this video: the early Holostars, with Miyabi especially since he is the first, are absolute troopers. People say they started from 0, but that is not true, they started with negative points. Starting from zero doesn't mean having 1/2-2/3 of the comments about you being negative without even doing something. Miyabi is one of the strongest and bravest people i've heard about. Despite being shy and anxious he pushed forth though all that and i can't express how much i respect him for that.
    And the other thing i learned from this video: Yagoo is truly best girl. As Miyabi said, it is amazing that he dedicated 1 on 1 time to talk with him, despite having multiple other members in the main branch. And the fact he was smiling the entire time, that actually makes me tear up. He tried to reassure him and calm him down. I also have a lot of respect for that man too.
    I am not following all the members from Holostars, i just don't have the time, but i surely will be happy for everyone's success and will root for everyone in the future.

  • @Vanilla_Donut
    @Vanilla_Donut 3 роки тому +873

    First of all, I do want to specifically thank you for clipping and translating this. These types of thoughts, emotions, looking back into the past, etc. generally occur in two forms. Those who don't want to talk about them which there is nothing wrong with that and those who do talk about them and are open and being frank about it. With that in mind, I do want to thank Miyabi for taking the time to talk about his beginning, his thoughts, emotions, concerns, and events that occurred. It gives the viewers, both new and old, a deeper perspective and appreciation or even respect of what has happened and as we look forward to the future to come with each member of Holostars and the group as a whole.
    For me personally, I only joined earlier this year through Hololive then later finding Holostars. I was shocked to see that they are quite smaller than Hololive. I thought, why can't they collab with Hololive or other Vtubers outside Hololive more as that could help them. Through watching clips and reading comments about such discussions there were many reasons for that. You had the girls who are introverts and need to be comfortable and gain the courage to collab with Holostars and then you have the toxic Japanese idol culture that put the girls in a position that some have said that they are indeed afraid of hurting Holostars. Those are only a couple that I can remember and of course these may not be all.
    What Miyabi said has connected the dots for me about how afraid some of the Hololive talents were of hurting Hololive given what had happened to Holostars and why we didn't see a lot of collabs between Holostars and other Vtubers. I am glad and happy to see many of Holostars are able to collab with others especially as HoloID came in. To be able to host these events together such as the Among Us chaos or Watchastars or all the other collabs.
    The other thing was Rikka was answering a question about potentially there could be new members to Holostars. To simply put it, he basically said it was hard to add new members to a boys group who have been together for a while. He thought the current atmosphere is good for Holostars and adding more members may disrupt that. Also, the potential that the new members may feel distanced with the existing members given the difficulty in a new member to adjust to a boy group in particular. What Miyabi has said had given me deeper understanding of how Holostars has grown together, had relied on each other for strength and support, and have continued to push forward together to make Holostars successful. It gave further perspective on how close the current group is and further understanding of Rikka's thoughts which I already was good with in the beginning.
    I know this was a long comment. Those are my thoughts and I look forward to seeing Holostars grow even more and have more fun together.

      @danielhakim9485 3 роки тому +60

      Their growth currently are in good pace and quite stable (although their local target audience is still lower than expected). But sooner or later, there will always be new members incoming. Rather than straightly reject the idea, they think that the decision should not taken immediately (instead give them more time to prepare for upcoming challenges and strongly grow their own fan community).

    • @kiabpaj
      @kiabpaj 3 роки тому +86

      I like to add to your comment as well since Shien addressed something similar saying that he hopes people can refrain from asking about new members and give love on the current members that make up Holostars. Like someone already said, they're not rejecting new members (in which I have seen a few cases where people blow this out of proportion) but by asking about new members and bugging them about it every time, it's going to show them that you are not interested in them. Look people, even if they know or do not know the answers about new members, why does it matter? Why do you need to hound them for answers?? It doesn't make it any better if you go and hound the company about it next. Do you not appreciate the current members that made Holostars possible to continue to thrive where it is? Hell, I'm not saying every member needs to be a person's favorite but since they are a group, give them the respect as a group and individual. The current members of Holostars have such a strong familial bond that even I don't think future gens will be able to fill in. It's just means that all 3 gens have gone through a lot together but of course, it doesn't mean they won't open their arms to fellow new members.

    Thank you so much for clipping this so fans who don't know Japanese can see this and get an understanding of what he was talking about. I broke down during this stream. He has talked about this in the past but I'm glad he brought it up again with more details. Early debut gen went through a lot and I could understand Miyabi for feeling the way that he did. By being the first debuted member of Holostars, he had to endure a lot. Just imagine where you haven't even debuted yet, only "introduced as a male branch of Hololive" and in return you got mostly negative comments about you for just existing. Yet, despite after debuting, people didn't even give you a chance.
    Miyabi continuously walks so that the others can run but yet they don't leave each other behind and I think this is why Holostars has such a strong familial bond among all the three gens. I recall Miyabi saying that Holostars back then would've possibly disbanded had it not been for the members supporting each other behind the scene.
    Plus, Yagoo and Shinove didn't leave them to hang dry, they listened and talked things out to try and help them the best they could at the time. Yagoo has shown multiple times just how much he cares for his boys and while he's busy now with the huge surge in popularity HoloPro has gotten, he still retweets just as much when he can. The boys always express their love for both their manager Shinove and company president Yagoo, so it shows a lot that these two really cared, didn't give up on them and will always continue to support them. Even at the 2020 off Christmas collab where all the 9 members met up for the pre-recording, Miyabi shared that Yagoo even told him that, "Miyabi looks much happier now."
    EDIT: Just a note here, please understand that a good amount of time has passed since Miyabi experienced what he had experienced. Their fanbase both locally and overseas have continued to grow since then. It's not an anomaly speed of growth but a steadily pace that the boys have proven they are able to stand on their own without being an anomaly.

      I got into watching Vtubers when HoloMyth debuted, but I only seriously started enjoying them when Tempus came out. I love Altare, Magni, Vesper, Axel, Bettel, Shinri, Hakka, and Flayon. I unfortunately don't know japanese, but I do love seeing the collabs they do with the JP holostars.
      I was led to this clip by a reddit holostar post about a recent Altare & Kobo collab. I didn't realize people were so against collabing with the Holostars just because apparently the Hololive girls have obsessive, toxic, insane fanbases. I'm a bit of a weeb, which is why I like vtubers, and I never thought someone would cling to one as their 'virtual waifu'. The whole mentality is just creepy and weird, and I hate there are some girls in hololive who refuse to collab still - but i can't even blame them cause we all know they'd get hate for it. Like Kiara and Gura.
      My favorite duo in vtubing is Altare and Kobo, I love their sibling dynamic. And my favorite big group is Calli, Kronii, Magni, and Vesper. I think those 4 are absurdly hilarious together. They make me feel like i'll pass out from laughter with how funny they are as a group.
      It just sucks how poorly the holostars were received and how poorly they're still received to this day.

      @@Alino- I like to think that Cover is at least trying to make the different branches of Holopro more connected (they include everyone in their expo art if that counts for something), thing is, it IS an uphill battle that won't fade overnight.
      However, I think it's safe to reiterate that things aren't AS bad as they used to be (from what I've picked up on), obviously it's still a pain but improvements most certainly aren't impossible.

    Firstly, Reigan, I'm a non-Japanese speaking person from the U.S. that as a U.S. "Army Brat" and well after that, has resided all over the States and other parts of the world since I was a toddler. I'm thankful for that. I was raised by parents and much older siblings to have a deep compassion and respect for all people & cultures of the world and consider myself a citizen of the world.
    I thank you for translating Hanasaki Miyabi's stream segment. As I have hopes of becoming a indie comfy, asmr vtuber/streamer, I seek out words of wisdom and lessons from Vtubers & streamers, corporate and Indies, that shed a light on being in their field (the good, the bad, the ugly, the uncertain, the indifferent) and that it's not always sunshine, lollipops, hundreds of superchats a day with 150K subscribers within 2-3 months; especially if you're either the first of a brand to do it or are a complete unknown and streaming faithfully daily with only 0 -5 views.
    That's painful. No doubt that's heartbreaking and you're giving your all. I shed some tears listening to Miyabi while hanging on every translated word as he shared his truth. His experiences. It's educational, motivational, teaching to still be true to who and what makes you unique and enjoyable, but to learn that good days and not so good/ scuffed days or nights online are lessons learned. Stepping stones. And to develop a "thick skin" because ppl can be cruelly blunt, rude & snarky in their criticisms with a monitor as their shield. But one still has to try and do their best and not allow anyone to break your stride and pursue your positive, engaging goals -- to entertain and for it not to be in vain.
    Hanasaki is a wonderful influence to me (despite the fact that I'm not a gamer. lol) in my quest for knowledge of this industry and the "masterclass" of being patient, having fortitude, being humble, gracious and sincere. Maintain a strong work and content building ethic. But take breaks. Never burn a candle from both ends.
    Arigato, @Reiganstars & #HanasakiMiyabi and all past, present and future vtubers/streamers and the creatives behind the scenes that make and rig their models to have life and talent breathed into them.

    I remember people talked about how Sora only got less than 200 people watching her debut and she had a rough time back then. To be honest, I was in that group as well. But at least female vtubers had easier time to attract viewers. Now (as of April 2022) she's close to 1 million subscribers.
    But Miyabi, Izuru, and Kira? As the former mentioned, they only got double digits viewers. And I'm pretty sure most of them were just there to take a quick peek and leave. Now, Miyabi only had 120K subscribers, the lowest in holostars, not counting UPROAR!! because they still relatively new. He really deserves more than that.
    That's why sometimes it annoyed me when newer generations (especially hololive) disrespected their senpai during their collabs. Not really a big deal as they tend to joke around. It just how I feel.
    Thanks for the clip. I had this one in my playlist for a long time but it got buried under hundreds of other holostars newer clips.

    Y'know, I never knew about the Holostars branch until Coco Kaichou's meme review, which in return, after Kaichou's graduation, Astel recognized her achievements and, indirectly, thanked her as he was crying. Oga also gave her his thanks. But yeah, through her meme review, I was intrigued and so I checked them out through clips and yeah, they're like a bunch of bros, doing shenanigans together and whatnot. It was relatable to me. But I didnt know about the hate they received. Like I get it, we love our waifus but come on, nothing wrong with some guys having a place in Hololive but as Holostars. Hell you can possibly relate to one of them in some way especially as a male. I'm glad they're around and managed to stick around after all that BS they faced. I'm glad they got to do collabs with the Hololive JP and ID gals.
    YAGOO is indeed best girl, non shall slander this gentleman. Also, wished Kaichou sticked around just a bit longer. I really wanted to see a collab between her and Shien; a Yakuza dragon and Mafia beast man Jackal. Boss's 3D reveal was so similar to Kaichou's 3D moments from looking grandeur while sitting on a chair, doing a cartwheel(s), wielding a blade of their own to a gun. It was a collab that I really wanted to see. Maybe in 500 years it may happen.

      It's not your fault that you haven't found out about them until recently, so don't be so hard on yourself. It was heartbreaking to hear miyabi's story on how hard it was for them in their early days as members of holostars, but it's in the past now. Right now they have all these viewers who love them for them, with no sexist hate just because they're males. So don't beat yourself up like that because you didn't know then, because the fact that you regret to not know them before means that you really care about them now. What's important is to support the creators you love in this moment, so you're good my guy

    • @cherryia

      Don't worry about that, please. It's not your fault. I also got to know them late. It's mostly because of the UA-cam algorithm or because they don't have a lot of subs, and because of that many people can think that they're not interesting and not worth their time. I also thought like that, but I was wrong. It doesn't matter when you got to know them, it matters that you got to know them. (Sorry if I made any typos!)

    Hearing that senkougumi only have 10/20 viewers really hits my heart so bad since i started to know holostar june last year. Even though their live viewers are not many as the jp girls, at least the viewers are now decent being around hundreds and thounsand live viewers. I still remember how back then around 1st year anniversary holostar, reaching 100k sub is hard and the most subscribed member back then was rikka with around 40/50k subs.
    And now they have been gotten strong with 7 of them have reached 100k and over, now miyabi and temma is left to get them 100k.there are lots of things that i want to mention how different their growth was back then but for now let's keep moving foward and support holostars so they able to get more recognition same level as the girls

    Thank you so much for translating this. Before watching this, I already imagined that their situation must have been tough due to the various circumstances. But NOTHING could prepare me for what Miyabi-san shared. Sleepless nights, loss of appetite and almost 2/3 of reactions received from his social media actions being negative. It takes a really strong person to pull through such a situation that dragged on for so long and I am extremely glad and absolutely respect Miyabi-san and the rest for putting up with it and being where they are today. Even though they are doing much better now, I believe that, like everyone else here who clicked this video, they deserve even better recognition. So I hope this video gets shared more be it through Facebook, Twitter, anywhere.
    His sharing also changed my perception of Yagoo-san. Instead of someone who is simply the president of the company and now a meme template, he actually took great care of the talents who consulted and seek help from him. So, huge thanks to Yagoo-san and Shinove-san for having the backs of these guys. Most importantly, thank you Miyabi-san and the whole group for not giving up and being there for one another. There's nothing I could say that hasn't already been said by other commenters but I just want to give a shout out to Yagoo! He really is a dedicated boss and he has so much compassion for his talents. I remember that he would show up to the holostars members stream and comment back when they were still very small. I genuinely think that his support is the largest factor of holostars' survival and growth, especially in the early days. I mean, yes, of course the viewers are very important and the passion the individual streamer has are super important as well, but if yagoo hadn't been there to support the boys and personally encourage them, they would not even have the opportunity to grow. Of course we don't know how he really is 100% behind the scene but by the way literally all of holopro has a good relationship with him, I think we can safely assume that he's a good person. I hope that holostars and hololive will continue to grow even more in the upcoming year!!!

    I feel like this could be Miyabi's Akiroze moment.
    This was definitely worth watching/listening to as someone who crossed over into Holostars two months ago, thanks to a certain Ultimate Chicken Horse collab clip with Iofi and Oga. It was already going to be tough since a super majority of Vtubers go with female avatars and are women behind them, but they were the first ones in the all-male offshoot group within Cover. I'm just glad that all the OG dudes hung in there to make the path easier for the next two generations, and that Yagoo has been there to help them. I was already subbed, but I think I'll hang out in the chat some as well.

    I wanna protect all these boys... They are so hard working, they deserve so much. I truly hope holostars will continue to grow and grow and grow!!!! Also, thank you so much for translating this! I think this is necessary so we understand them more!

    I'm so crying the whole time while watching this. I actually expected them to suffer such hardships since they just started at that time but hearing it from Miyabi really broke me into tears. As I was listening to him, I can't stop the urge of hugging like I badly wanna hug him right now. He had done his best, and I'm sure he'll keep getting bigger and bigger in the future! And we will be always here supporting him!

    I'm surprised they started Holostars without a manager.
    And yeah, I didn't know that they existed until Robel's WINNING SON happened.

      Actually it's also the same for the 1st & 2nd generation of hololive girls. They started w/o any manager & most of them don't have PC for streaming, they just use their phones & laptops. I hope holostars will get the recognition they deserve, their streams are really fun & they are really funny.

    It's crazy how Miyabi managed to finesse through all of that. Will definitely come to his streams more often
